Players: Open, but lets limit this to 3-4 total characters.
    Genre: Hunger Games
    Rating: PG-13
Is this RP open or closed?: Open, but see notes.
    Notes:
    • Check out the #33 Hunger Games RP for updates, such as who has been injured or killed off. This rp is set in District Seven as the games are being played. As described in the books, everyone has to watch the games as they happen so this a HG roleplay from the other side.

Heather didn't want to watch the games this year but knew she had to. Her cousin, all of twelve years old, had taken her spot as Tribute in the games because Heather had just found out she was pregnant.

The games were about to begin and Heather, along with many others of her district were gathered in front of one of the huge screens that were put up to watch the games unfold. The countdown had started and Heather shivered. Everyone knew that the young girl who had taken Heather's place was going to die; the only question remaining was what kind of death was the child going to have.

    The clock read: 53...52...51...

    Another year, another Hunger Games.

Rissa clutched her baby to her chest, dreading the day that Zeke would be old enough to be in the Games. Losing a sister to them had been bad enough. Beside her, Marta muttered under her breath, seething with anger but not yet reckless enough to display it in front of the Peacekeepers. But Marta was always angry, had been since Lina had died.

Rissa, though... Rissa didn't have the energy to spare to be angry, not even as the clock counted down to yet another bloody Hunger Games: 50...49...48...

Angie stood next to Heather. Heather, whose name had been plucked from the bowl, only to have willow stand up and take her place. Angie would have wanted to take her brother's place, but she wasn't allowed to. Angie was only ten. And she couldn't volunteer for a boy anyway. And she would have been scared and Rowan wouldn't have let her go anyway. Angie had cried all day when he'd left. And she had hardly eaten. She didn't want to Rowan to die. She didn't want Rowan to leave her. She couldn't imagine a life without Rowan.

The screen flashed to the different tributes and then she saw Rowan's face and she burst into tears again.

Heather instinctively wrapped her arms around Angie. The younger girl seemed tall for her age, or maybe it was just that Heather's 5'3" meant most young folk were about her height. "Don't cry Angie." She knew the words weren't comforting, but these were the games and comforting wasn't the proper currency right now. "If you cry, they win. Rowan would want you to be strong. Rowan would want you to be brave for him." The truth, was she didn't know what Rowan would have wanted other than to see his sister smile one last time.

The baby kicked. She hadn't even realized she was this far along until about a week before the reaping. Heather sighed, trying to push her pregnancy out of her mind. As much as she loved the child inside of her, she knew that the child was the only reason why Willow was in the games. Her foolish cousin had volunteered before Heather had even had a chance to react to her name being reaped. The child that had always had a smile on her face was now standing on a circle, waiting to die.

Angie nodded and reached up to wipe the tears from her cheeks. They still welled in her eyes, but she tried her to best not to make a sound, not to let the peacekeepers see her pain. Rowan might want her to be strong, but how could she be when he was out there and might not live the next ten minutes. Someone would be dead. Angie knew that much. She'd watched these games every year she could remember and every year someone from district seven died.

She hugged Heather back and felt the baby and then the screen flashed to Willow's face. It was all angie could do not start crying again.

Scipio looked out amongst the crowd gathered, his face impassive above his pure white uniform. this was his favourite part of the year, the annual Hunger Games. There was something so amazingly primal about it, the intensity, the way it got your blood rushing hot in your veins. It was almost intoxicating.

Still. He couldn't show such weakness in front of the district. He was a Peacekeeper, it was his duty to uphold the laws and dignity of the Capitol. He had been hand selected from District 2 for this, it was his calling. He would not fail.

Tightening his grip on his weapon, Scipio scanned the crowd as the count down rang in his ears. 29...28...27...

Less than 30 seconds left, and Rissa suddenly couldn't bear to watch. She wouldn't be able to avoid it forever, but for now, she turned her attention on the crowds rather than the screens.

As her eyes fell on young Angie and Heather, however, she wished she hadn't looked away from the Games. It brought back far too many memories of when she had been in their place, terrified for Lina but being able to do nothing about it. But then, this meant she knew, at least somewhat, how they must feel. Perhaps she could do something to help them and their families. She didn't know what to do, or how to fit more responsibilities in with everything else she already had to do, but it would give her something else to do. She'd learned long ago that staying busy was one way to take her mind off of grief... and anger, she thought, looking back at Marta.

"I'll be back," she murmured vaguely to her sister, before starting to slowly weave her way towards the two she'd been watching earlier.

    And the clock continued: ...20...19....18...17
