Name of Board: The Once and Future King Link to Board: LINK Short description of Board: An arthurian legend RPG, taking original and mythic canon and blending it together to create a forum where myth and legend come alive in a pseudo historical setting. Analysis Notes: Well really it's a case of being too close to the forum, it was open and died and I am now revamping it. At the moment we are not closed but not in a state of active play so I guess Limbo, but at this stage Im so close to the board I can't see what else needs doing, or what is glaringly bad and needs fixed. Link to profile on the Board: Dante
First Glance: First looking at the board, I loved the color scheme, graphics, and layout. EXCEPT the background. To me it's more Victorian looking and doesn't really fit with the rest of the site, the Arthurian feel to it or its color scheme. Things of Note: -I love how you have all the links in the Beginners Guide. It will make it easy for new members to find their way around the site to all the important info. It's a one stop shop to finding everything they need. -For some reason when I click on the staff and it takes me to the profile it stretches the board - a lot. Something maybe to look into. -I love the positioning and banner of the cbox. -Going through some of the forums it's not just the profiles that stretches the board. It'll widen pretty much every time I open a topic, and your banner at the top has an empty black space to the right of it. -Every time I click on a link in the starters guide it opens in a new tab. Personally I hate that. If I want it in a new tab, I'll click open in a new tab. -The plot looks well thought out. Overall: Over all I think with some tweaking it's going to look great. I'd change the background to give it more of an Arthurian feel or to at least match the color scheme, check into the stretching issues, but other than that, I think this is a very nice, well thought out board. I hope that helps!
I do like the color scheme, but I think the background needs to be changed. My first thought was "woah. oww my eyes." I also don't think it fits the rest of the board design very well. The links under 'Navigation' on the side bar are broken. Personally, I really dislike the 'hover menu' thing you have for the links section, they annoy me profoundly, but I'm likely in the minority. If you're going to keep it though you should up the text size, as I really had to squint to read it. The "submit a character" on the sidebar links to a Harry Potter site. I was confused. There is a typo in the advertising sub-forum description. Personally, I would up the font size in topics. I read the 'Beginner's Guide' and while I love the format of it, the font is too small for me to read comfortably. It is readable, but I have to strain just a bit. I can't read the text in the subplotting posts at all. "Concerns and Complaints" subforum exists twice. I think in the app templates the text is hard to read too. It appears really fuzzy, I don't know if that is deliberate or not. Over all I really like the site. The information topics were easy to find (though maybe you might want to have a few with a general over view of Arthurian legends for those not as familiar? Just as a good place for them to start getting their feet wet, so to speak). I like the color scheme you have going, it is really appropriate for the subject matter. I hope this helps!
