    the official rules and guidelines

The rules listed below apply to all aspects of RPG-Directory, including but not limited to the forums, directory, chatbox, skindex, blog posts, status updates, and facebook page, unless additional rules are noted in those specific sections.
    • RPG-Directory members must be at least age 13, and all content posted must be appropriate for a "PG-13" audience. In line with this rule, we ask that no images include nudity or vulgar language and that the word filters are respected.
      • In line with this rule, all images must follow COPPA guidelines. Images depicting children may be used as long as they are not pornographic in nature. Pornographic images featuring children may be deleted within a reasonable time frame by RPG-Directory.
    • Drama in any form will not be tolerated. This includes flaming or attacking other members or staff, public complaints about punishments on RPG-D or other resource boards, bringing issues from other sites onto RPG-D, “rant” posts made without the intent of discussion, and any other behavior the staff believes detracts from the positive atmosphere of the community.
    • Linking to active role playing games and blatant advertising are not permitted outside of signatures and those sections that explicitly allow it.Sections that do allow posting links - such as the Directory, Character Search, and RPG Request - will say so in that forum's particular rules. Most discussion areas such as RP Talk or Managing Your Board do NOT allow this.
      • Members may link to active RPG's in their signatures. Signatures may be up to 750px wide and 500px high.
      • Unsolicited advertising via PM is strictly forbidden. If you have received a PM advertising a board, add a staff member to the conversation and do not reply to it.
    • No transactions involving real money may occur on the site, and the RPG-Directory staff is not responsible for any issues that may arise from transactions arranged through RPG-D members. This means that you may not post threads, status updates, or blog posts that offer or request hosting, graphics or art commissions, or any other thing in exchange for currency in "real life." Any hosting arrangements or other transactions made with RPG-D members that take place off-site are the sole responsibility of the persons involved - if your arrangement goes awry, the RPG-D staff will be unable to assist.
      • No direct soliciting of money or other goods for a charity or cause. However, describing the cause and linking to an official source where people can give money or services is fine. For example, a member may link to the homepage of a charity but a member may not ask for donations to be placed in their own Paypal account.
    • Basic courtesy and appropriate behavior is expected of all members, at all times.Posts made with the sole intent to “troll” other members or derail a conversation are not acceptable, and we ask that members make their best effort to use a readable font and proper language (no chat speak, please) to make it easier for others to understand you.
      • The use of multiple accounts is forbidden. The use of multiple accounts with the intent to deceive other members, or the staff of RPG-D is prohibited and will result in their deletion and ban. Repeated and continual violation of this rule will result in a ban for the creator and controller(s) of those accounts.
    • Plagiarism and image theft will be treated with a zero-tolerance policy and are not permitted. We expect all members of RPG-Directory to post only their own original content or to give credit where credit is due in regards to writing, graphics, site skins or designs, etc. Any member found to be plagiarising will be issued an immediate ban once the plagerism has been confirmed.
    • Posting twice in a row with the intent of "bumping" a thread is only permitted if 7 days have passed since the original post, unless stated otherwise. Some sections - such as the directory - will have different bumping rules listed, so please check the rules of each individual section before you choose to bump. Early bumps will be deleted without warning.
