Other notes: So basically I want to plop a 70-year-old-something psychiatrist on your forum to stir up a bunch of comedy. I am craving writing comedy right now and so my goal is to find a forum that could facilitate to that. I don't know, are there any comedy-centric forums out there? I plan to join and write every thread I participate in as hilarious and make a sort of eccentric, perhaps "how is my luck even POSSIBLY this bad?" type thing. I'd really like a forum that has been around for longer than a year, and I'd love a forum that's been around for 3+ years. Uhmm....yeah. Throw me what you got.
So here's the thing: I think Bordertown would fit you really well because it allows for lots of whimsy, quirkiness and WTF-moments. However, there are several parts about us that don't fit your requirements. We are under a year, the fantasy is "out" and we're following our host's TOS which means PG-13 and no explicit sex scenes. If you're really set on those points, completely understand and best of luck on your search. If you want more info on Bordertown, let me know and I'll come back with a more detailed post ^_^
Ahh thanks for the luck. Yes, I'd really prefer "secret" supernatural society as well as the ability to kind of do violence/sex without really worrying about TOS. But thanks for posting!
Of Elements has lots of different threads going on right now, one of which is a slapstick/ridiculous type of thread about a rag-tag party of pirate dwarves. There's comedy in it, and we're open to all styles of writing. I'd personally like to write comedy myself, something along the lines of the Princess Bride, as we're a medieval/high fantasy site. I know that might not fit exactly what theme you're looking for, but I figured that I'd give it a shot. We're just restarting up again, having only been up for a few months, BUT we are a reincarnation of a site that ran for over ten years. Mmm nope not looking for that but thank you, @Atma! I find it kinda funny that the comedies are high fantasy lol Maybe the only funny roleplays are fantasy-type roleplays. Hopefully that's not the case since it's not a genre I really dabble in, but I'm glad to know of your guys' existence!

We are a mature-rated, literature personified Dr. Seuss site, where many of Seuss' beloved characters are living "average" lives within the small Maryland town of Diddville. We are currently accepting both Canon & Original Characters. We have a word count of at least 300, and are a very laid back community. Hi @slant! This might not be exactly what you're asking for, but I thought I'd give it a try. Which is Silence isn't a comedy site, we're an apocalyptic zombie site, BUT we've had several quirky/comedy-esque characters that have done pretty well on the board and I love those characters. They provide a very satisfying contrast to the setting, lol. We've had an Elvis impersonator who when the zombies showed up sort of cracked and started to believe he really was Elvis and that the undead were very enthusiastic fans, and we had an old inventor that had a tendency to carry on happy conversations with his dead wife. There is also an old bluesman that believes the zombies are the devil's children and that they're out to get them because he tricked the devil into giving him his musical talent...So we have plenty of room for quirky characters and they generally are beloved on the site. Also the last shrink on the board was murdered by a pack of ravenous feral children...so there's room for a new one I'll drop the ad for you to peruse and if you have any questions don't hesitate to PM me here or contact me on WiS. If there's a government any more it's deep in hiding and not coming out any time soon. There is no police force, no organized military, the television channels and radio stations are mostly broadcasting static. But there is some small hope. A band of survivors that traveled across the United States to their own promised land. They made it, and though it hasn't been easy they are still strong in their resolve to rebuild civilization as best they can. Which is Silence is a member-paced horror RPG set in the days immediately after the end of the world. Board is 18+ for horror, violence, mature themes and general bloody-mindedness. Threads move quickly, plots come fast and (especially) furious, and the world changes according to player's actions. Writing standards are high but value is placed on quality over quantity--we'd rather see a pithy, well-phrased post a few lines long than 400 words of nothing-much. You know what, I actually really like your website, @Deadmouse. I don't know if I'll be joining quite yet but I've bookmarked it and your remarks kind of led to a bit of a 'realization' to me that comedy...well, doesn't really have to be written on a comedy website. It helps if other members are receptive to the comedic approach but I suppose comedy can be tried anywhere. So I'm closing this thread.
