Short forum description: HUBRIS is a modern-day, realistic crime-based RPG community, working within the frames of a corrupt society where the government has been replaced by clan-rule. These clans, or families, bear strong resemblance to the urban mafia factions and crime organisations of our own world. Our story unfolds in London, and the events centered around three families who reluctantly share the rule in the city, as well as their common enemy, a resistance group known as The Legion, who seeks to destroy the family rule and reinstate true democracies in their stead. Character Search: CHEVALIER FAMILY OPHELIA CHEVALIER: Forty-eight years old, play-by: Emma Thompson. Cousin and legal advisor to Lysander Chevalier, who is the head of the Chevalier Family. Ophelia has only recently returned to London after being abroad for years. She has actually spent the past few years in the company of the Italian/Sicilian de Luca Family, who are an overseas rivalling Family, and is now secretly spying on the Chevaliers for them. Ophelia had an affair with the current Head of Chevalier Public Relations (Daniel Bancroft) back in their youth, and now that she has returned to London, she is realising that her old feelings for the man are very much still alive. There's just one hitch - Daniel now only has eyes for Coralina Windsor, who just so happens to be Ophelia's other cousin. In an upcoming plotline, people from the de Luca Family will be paying the London Families a more or less diplomatic visit. Ophelia, as their spy, will have a vital part to play in this particular setting. _____ ROBARDS: Twenty-nine years old, play-by: Hans Matheson. Robards is the personal bodyguard of Helena and Bianca Chevalier. He reports to Rossmore, who is head of compound security. He used to be a sniper, and is an expert on firearms. He has a temper, and comes off as unpredictable and eccentric to many people. He is completely loyal to the Family however, with one exception: Helena Chevalier. The two have a past, and Robards has been harbouring a grudge against the Chevalier heiress because she did not reciprocate his feelings, and turned him down (harshly) when he voiced them to her. There is no open animosity between them (not in public - privately is another matter), but if the opportunity arose, Robards would love to 'teach the girl a lesson'. Unbeknownst to Robards, he is actually the fraternal twin brother of Alex Romanov, the heir to the Romanov Family. The two were seperated at birth, when Alex was adopted by the Romanovs. Alex has recently discovered the identity and whereabouts of his long-lost brother, and there is grounds for plenty of interesting drama to be had between the pair of them. SANTIAGO FAMILY AIDAN GILMORE: Forty-six years old, play-by: Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Gilmore is Second-in-command to Gabriel Santiago, head of the Santiago family. Gilmore is therefore a very powerful and influential character. He's the childhood friend of the recently murdered Arran Santiago who was Gabriel's cousin, and who recommend Gilmore to be Gabe's SIC. Gilmore's younger brother disappeared twenty years ago, and he has no idea what happened to him. In fact, the brother joined the Legion (an underground network whose mission is to bring down the Family regime and instate true democracies in their stead), and currently resides in London right under Gilmore's nose. Perhaps the two might one day be reunited ... Though how Gilmore would react to finding out his brother is alive, and that he's joined what to the Families is known as a "terrorist cell", that is up to the player to decide. ROMANOV FAMILY ERIC KESSON: Fifty years old, play-by: Ralph Fiennes. Husband of the Romanov Family Head, Cathleen Romanov. Eric has for many years felt quite emasculated, though he still loves his wife and is completely unaware of the fact that she has been having an affair - with another woman. He disagrees with his wife's decision of picking their daughter as her successor, so he is secretly training their son to be a capable leader.
