All right, so I'm not great at photography, but I adore taking pictures. I want to get myself a nice camera and take better pictures, but I never seem to be able to save up the money. I took a photography class in high school, where we had to develop our own film and print the pictures in a darkroom. It was really interesting, and I actually learned about what I like taking pictures of.

My favourite subjects are trees, flowers, and my violin. I've taken a lot of pictures of my violin. At the end of our photography class, we had to put together a portfolio of pictures that were all on a similar subject. I took pictures of my violin in various places.

What do you like taking pictures of?

And furthermore... what kind of pictures inspire you to take pictures of your own like that one you saw? ^^

I am just curious as to what other photographers get inspired by.

I love taking photos, or plants, animals, the sky. My most frequent subject is the cat, because I can't get the humans in my family to sit still for me. ^^

haha. I've never been good at taking pictures of real people. I love taking pictures of statues that look like people, though. ^^ I'm just bad at capturing real people the way I see them.

Hah. I love hand photography... but I fail at taking pictures of people. I can never get the lighting or the positioning right. I have a good eye for inanimate objects... and cats. lol. Other than that I'm just another amateur photographer.

I'd love to have a professional camera... but I'd rather have a whole mess of other stuff, too. So I'm probably not going to get one any time soon : ( Unless my family decides to be really awesome.

I'd love to have a professional camera to take with me to Japan this winter because Japan in winter is almost as amazing as the Appalachian Mountains are in the winter.

As for me though, the biggest inspiration I have is whatever i think is beautiful or amazing because its everywhere. And thank goodness for the camera on my iPhone 4, I have some amazing pictures of the fall leaves in my neighborhood and in the surrounding mountains (Bridge Day 2010 anyone?). At one point I had taken shots of food because i just liked the way it was plated and presented. *shrug* Other times I try to catch pictures of insects, flowers, leaves, and clouds.

I love a good photo myself. Especially when I take it. Just getting the angle right, the lighting perfect and the moment precious. It's hard work, lol.

My favorite subjects have to be people, animals and landscapes. It's always amazing getting that GREAT photo of a person that just compliments them in every way. People are the hardest to get good photos of, so it's also one of the most rewarding. Plus, the emotion and action that you can fit into all those pixels. It's the most enthralling thing ever.

I love taking pictures of animals mostly because they can be completely symbolic. A spider on its web in a picture could be symbolizing a tangled web of lies or even how tiny little threads make something beautiful.

And then landscapes I love taking pictures of is because it captures a moment. If you are in the mountains and get a picture of them, one that is well taken, later on you will look back and remember so much more from that one little picture.

And that, m'dears, is my view on photography.

    I throughly agree with this.

People are individualistic by nature. I think they're probably one of the most interesting things to look at when it comes to pictures. While there can be a hundred of pictures of one building, there'd only be one of that one person. So that's my view on it :)

I enjoy taking pictures of various things.

I love taking pictures of the sky. Plants can be interesting too. But the sky mainly steals my attention. I enjoy taking pictures of people with an extreme passion. But it has to be a candid. Spur of the moment. While they're eating, or saying something. It's like a game for me to challenge myself and see how to make an average moment, look beautiful. And it's so much fun. I never get bored of it. I enjoy making textures. Taking pictures of dirty windows, chipped paint, dirt, metal, art, fabric, so forth, so forth. But my favorite thing to take pictures of, would have to be the sky.

And for your other question, there are many things that inspire me. I can't really pen point when the moment was where my heart said "YES! I want to do that! Photography is calling me!" I just remember when I was about 12 or 13 when I got my first camera. And it didn't take long for it to become a passion. I still crave it. I want a canon so badly. My grandfather has one and when I hold it, inspiration just sweeps over me like a disease. I feel like I could take a picture of the dirt and it would be beautiful. The coloring and quality of the pictures really encourage me. And I just love the fact that I have the control over the focus. (and the zoom too of course) So, I guess the canon series cameras inspire me.
I also love to see other peoples creations. To see through their eyes and to observe what they have brought to life. So, other peoples imaginations inspire mine. And encourage me to branch out. I love seeing pictures that have used my favorite styles in them. That always inspires me as well. Like, I love when people stand in front of bright lights. The light out lines their body and creates a beautiful effect. I love when a ray of light breaks past the side of their cheek, or ear. Another style I love is dirty. Or messy. When you take a girl and place her in an old, elegant dress, and make it look like she's worn it for 5 years and hasn't had a bath in 2 months. With the faded colors and dark corners of the photograph to really bring it all to completion. I enjoy seeing leaves on the ground as well. Especially when there is no reason for their to be leaves. (like perhaps if you're inside)

Well, I think I've ranted enough. o.O lol

I've always loved taking pictures, but it wasn't until my father gave me his old Canon this past summer that I could really get into it.

I love running around with my camera and I find inspiration everywhere. Flowers, trees, statues, fountains, bridges, benches, animals, fallen leaves... anything. I'd really love to work with a model some time, but I have no idea how to find one.

I think the single most interesting thing to capture on film is clouds though. I love how clouds instantly add something more to the picture.

After that, I'd have to say that I love playing with light.

If you wanna see some of my pictures, go here!

Oh my gosh, your gallery is great! I'm quite surprised you haven't had more favs or comments! I've added you to my dA Watch (I'm WildWolfLover) because your photos are awe-inspiring for me!

And as an answer to this thread, I love to photograph anything! Well, anything I can lay my eyes on. And most of the time I'm really kicking myself because I see something that I instantly think 'Wow, that'd make a great picture!', and I haven't got a camera on me ):

Well, I'm hopefully getting the Nikon Coolpix P100 for Christmas, so I guess more fun will be coming my way C:

I love photography. I've been doing it for years now. I even get paid for it sometimes (I got one of them professional-lookin' websites).

Though, ever since I've gotten to China, its been really hard to get myself to update everything - mostly because of the speed of the internet is so terrible. I do manage to get stuff on Facebook though, and actually works pretty good (proxies for the win).

If you want to follow me, I also have a DA. I'd be more than happy to follow anyone here, probably.

Most of the time, I use a Nikon D80.

And someone asked about how to find models. The best way to do it, is to just ask pretty girls that you know (they will jump at the chance. Or, at the very least, be super flattered). Guys are a bit more difficult, but if you find a good concept (I did a Fight Club shoot once) that is deemed manly, a lot of them will jump on it.

I will say that until you've worked with a lot of models, or at least established yourself as a very good photographer, to never ask someone to take off their clothes for a shoot (even if you have a really good idea/image and the best of intentions). Especially if you don't have a semi-professional looking camera. It screams of creepy, and a lot of the times, you probably aren't ready to take artistic nudes yet. I've been doing this for years, and I still haven't done anything like that. There is a lot of pressure on you, because if the shoot ends up not being very good, than you've taken pictures of someone at their most vulnerable and failed at making them look beautiful. That is on you, and it makes them feel super bad. That is my nude photography rant.

As an amateur photographer (with my dinky lil' Canon Rebel T1i), I get inspired to take pictures of almost everything. My cat makes a good subject, especially since she's the more hyper and playful (and stupid ... lol) type. I also used to be a pack rat so I have plenty of odd ball knick knacks around my room that I may set up somewhere and get some cool close-ups of. Really my intrigue in photography revolves around mood lighting, lots of line elements, and showing the world through different angles that people aren't used to seeing every day. So that when someone looks at a picture, they say, "Oh I never looked at it like that before."

As a professional photographer, my calling is definitely to live concert photography. I worship Neil Zlozower (photographer for Motley Crue, Van Halen, etc), and would kill to be anywhere near the level he was on. Nothing gets me more inspiration than being thrust into a crowd of half drunk, screaming rock/metal fans and working my way through the crowd to get just the perfect shot of the guitarist or the singer, etc. Just as a performing musician gets energy off of the audience, I get the same, so it's a beautiful little exchange :) I especially love close-ups of the instruments, and I climb all over the stage and extremeties to get shots I want. XD I swear, I get into everything. (You gotta!) But it's rewarding work, especially when the band starts using your photos for flyers, promos, etc.

While we're exchanging Deviant Art pages ... Mine hasn't been updated in forever since I've "relocated" to Facebook.

Man... I take pictures of anything and everything, in all honesty.
I mean, I sincerely like doing self-portraits, because I'm in control of both the camera and myself [or, at least, getting the camera ready on a tripod and then posing quite a bit].

But I like nature as well. Nature shoots are just... peaceful to me. It doesn't matter if I'm photographing a storm of a pretty flower in the sun. I just love them.

I have a Nikon D5000, and it's my baby. <3 Most of my stuff can be found here :]

Oh my Lord, as a photographer, I think it's your job to take a picture of what ever moves you in the movement, so anything. I've taken pictures from everything to lovely made-up models to dead cats at the sides of roads (so that shouldn't be plural, it was only once and I'm not proud, but it was interesting) so I really think here variety is the spice of...Photography.

When I can get my hands on my camera and it works (it's rather crappy and it likes to eat the juice out of the batteries) I often enjoy taking pictures of things you don't normally see all the time. If it my pets or people doing something that they normally don't do, or if they are having a blast in the snow or something of that nature. The sight of pure bliss or surprise expressions on one's face really lights up a picture.

There is also the fact of how the sun sits on different objects that just makes something as simple as a building, water, or even how the moon light hits the snow. I suppose my favorite is nature and life in general. The simplest things like someone looking out of a window taking a picture of below and the reflection is seen with the person in the reflection and the world below you is inspiring.

When I feel like drawing I often take several different types of pictures of animals, people, land, and even buildings sort of like 'a day in the life off...' when I do that I tend to get inspired easily. So I guess those are some of the few that are my favorites. :rice:

I love taking pictures of nature and plants and landscapes, but since I can never get a chance to actually go to pretty places I usually just take pictures of my cat since he is the only living thing that is kinda willing to have their picture taken. I can't seem to get humans to want their picture taken. >_< One of these days I'd like to try and get someone to 'model' for me. My best friend said she is willing so.. I may attack her with my camera in the near future. I also want to travel and take pictures of other countries and such.

Since I love photography so much I was even going to take an Applied Photography course... but the only school in my area that had it decided that it would be a great idea to get rid of it. And since I don't have the kind of money or the courage to move to a different province I can't take the course. *sadface* But there is an online course I may take.

I really like this. Anything that speaks to me is usually what I take pictures of. I like taking ugly things and making them into interesting photographs.

I also really like macro photography... because I love the different textures you can capture with up-close photography. xD
