Do Topsites Help?

Figured I'd give this a try (heck, I'd do skywriting if I could find a way to do it free). Went to topsites.com and did a search on my fandom. Got a bunch of sponsored completely unrelated sites. Tried 'rpg.' Got a bunch of video game sites. Not really seeing how this would help me.

They work! On all sites I've been an admin on, we ask members to answer "where they found us" when they submit their character add. I've had a handful list Topsites - and like someone has already said, getting even one member from there, or any other place you put your effort into listing your forum on, is a success.

Plus, I believe it helps strengthen the community of your own site. Your members will get competitive and work together to bring your votes up.

Really? Can top-sites really be that dead? I always supposed at least every site on the first page got a good amount of members voting everyday. Guess I'll start registering my forum on some of them.
