    How y'all finding it?

I am hugely conflicted. I think that the gameplay and presentation are superb and everything I could have wanted after 12 year wait since Diablo 2. The combat is hugely satisfying and the level of skill customisation is so high that it will take me forever to try it out. As somebody avidly interested in game design, it is a pleasure to experience a game so smooth as this one.

However, there are two major issues with this game. The first is the same thing that everyone is complaining about, and that's the always online requirement. I don't always have faith in my own connection, but it's a bigger problem when battle net goes down and I can't play the single player game that I payed for. (I currently have no plans to play multiplayer). I am sure Blizzard will sort it out but the bigger problem here is that this approach sets a precedent. Other game developers will do the same thing, other developers that don't have the resources to build a long lasting and stable infrastructure. In other words a game experience that will eventually end because the login servers are down.

The second issue is the item economy. I'd say that 75% of the feeling of progression comes through improving your items. It is addictive to hunt down new items, and it's a tactical balancing game trying to stack Magic Find on your items without losing too much offense or defense. However the auction hall throws the item finding game out of the window. There are so many items to pick up and so cheaply that I could double the power of any of my characters by spending a minor amount of gold on the auction hall. My character will smash through the monsters as if they are nothing, and it will be quite some time before I find anything naturally that can outmatch my newly bought items. And by that time I will have collected enough gold to splash out on some new items. It makes the in-game crafting system, which is otherwise very well designed, totally worthless.

I am still looking forward to experiencing all 5 classes up to a high level and playing around with the skills to find great combinations. I've already done a lot of cool stuff with my Barbarian and now I am starting a Wizard. It will be plenty of time before I am finished with the game. Hopefully Blizzard will find a way to fix the economy, so that like Diablo 2 I will NEVER be finished with the game.

I'm still waiting for the game to download on my own computer, but I saw my friend playing it this weekend and loved the skill customization and the overall design of the game. It looks like a lot of fun and I can't wait to start playing it!

Mmmm...clicking on things wildly has never been such an insane amount of fun. I feel semi-embarrassed by how compulsive I find Diablo but Blizzard are very good at making products I hate myself for liking.

I heard that they finally made it able to play them on consoles?

Is this true are they actually going to get Diablo to consoles? In that case I will be a very very happy bunny!!

I was going to buy the game and start playing it but then decided against it, I hear that a lot of it is a grind and that it's not really that great for people who aren't a fan of the original games.

As much as I like fantasy settings, I'm very very specific about my lore and the whole demon obsessed lore doesn't really appeal to me. Give me Dragon Age any day.

The real money Auction House (if that's still there) was also a massive turn off for me.

Am I wrong? Is the gameplay good enough despite my concerns?
