So most of you with any access to the internet, MIGHT have seen this campaign about Christian Bale being asked to visit the victims of the shooting. Personally I think it is a great suggestion, and probably one that came from a good heart. HOWEVER... I think that maybe these victims would be still traumatized after the events not to mention still recovering. Alot of hurt came from going to the movies, and personally I think Christian Bale is probably a busy guy. The President was visiting them I read that somewhere, and I think he also is busy but this is his country and we are the citizens in it. Good to know he cares. Anyway what does anyone think? Good idea or not?

Mr. Bale is known to be very anti-social. I SERIOUSLY doubt he would do it in the first place. Better bet would be one of the other batmans, esp Clooney who has been known to do charity work.

Also, I saw an article that since a lot of people who commit these crimes do it to become famous we, as a nation, should try to turn our attention to the victims rather than the shooter and deny him what he wanted.

I think the intentions are in the right place and heartfelt, but that that's nonetheless a seriously horrible idea. O__o

These people just survived an all-out massacre and are most likely utterly traumatized with a good helping of PTSD. The last thing anyone really wants is to be reminded of the event that traumatized them. It's too soon. The murderer pretended to be the Joker (even if he got the hair color wrong) and I dunno, I think if I'd just survived a massacre in a showing of a movie and the murderer had called himself a character from that movie, I'd be pretty damned terrified if someone showed up to the hospital I was recovering at dressed up as another character from that movie. D8

It's way too soon and way triggering. So good intentions, baaaaad idea. I don't think people really thought this through.

I'm actually on the fence post about this. While it is a good idea, Bale is VERY anti social, and it's really soon after the shooting for something like this it be effective. There are ten times the better celebrities out there to reach out and touch these people. Brad Pitt, for example. Look at what he did for New Orleans after Katrina? It should be about them, not about publicity.

Not a good idea at all. PTSD is a very strong thing and can last for a long time - years even. Having an actor from the movie where these people were injured come visit them is almost guaranteed to be triggering. I really hope that this doesn't happen, for the victims' sake.

All things aside, it's sweet to think of the victims but, truthfully, donating money to their medical care is a far better way to show we're thinking of them than pushing for an unrelated actor to visit their hospital.

I certainly don't think he should be 'forced' to go, which is the way the internet is reporting it, that he'd be going because of a campaign. It should certainly be of his own volition. And I also think he shouldn't go dressed as Batman.

As people have mentioned above, these victims suffered a terrible attack while watching that movie, it'll not only stir up bad memories, but looking at the batman costume... it could just be a dude in a fancy dress outfit. If Bale were to decide to visit, I believe he should do it as himself.

If he's forced to go as batman, it looks like a tacky attempt by the producers to make sure the victims don't blame the franchise, which, let's face it, they'll probably never watch another batman film again. If Bale went of his own volition, it's one human being to another saying "I'm really sorry this happened to you."

Even if he goes dressed in normal clothes, it still has a very strong likelihood to be triggering. It's not like they're not going to know who he is because he's not dressed up as Batman. In my opinion he should stay as far away from the victims as possible.

Like kisstheground and Felix said, help with medical costs would be a much better route.

Bale is at last doing something I guess to repair his image of being "anti-social" so good for him. At least he isn't bashing at people like more and more male celebreties are doing recently. But still, not sure if his intentions are just publicity stunts or like genuine care.
