I really love historical RPs. Always have, always will. However, I frequently come across a dilemma when it comes to them. I have character ideas for historical RP sites that don't exist. For example, I would say love to play a character from Qing Dynasty China or maybe a character from 17th Century Bohemia, but there just aren't really rp spaces available for all these really specific time periods/places.

About a week ago I just happened to stumble onto the SyFy Channel's Riverworld miniseries, which is based on a series of novels with the same name. The gist of it is that Riverworld is a planet upon which humans from all different time periods up until the 21st century awaken on the banks of a river and have to adapt to this new place and interact with each other. There are many other facets to the show and the novels, but the primary thing I would be interested in making an RP out of would be bringing together characters from all these different historical backgrounds and mushing them together to make something awesome.

So, I guess I'm looking to see if there's any interest in something that, for lack of a better term, might be a panhistorical RP (kind of like a panfandom RP)! Or if it's only me who finds this appealing.

To be clear, I don't think I'd actually make an RP based on the canon of Riverworld, just focusing on the idea of people from all different time periods being put together because, as Loki would say:

I love this idea, but we already established that.

Lol, sounds a little like the Land of the Lost (the 90's and 70's series...not the crappy movie with Will Farrell ><).

Well, I'm glad so far that all responses have been positive and I'm not the only one who finds the idea appealing!

@geminiguy: I did look up Land of the Lost on wiki, and I have to say, it kind of makes me wish that I was a kid during the 70s, because I think I would have totally loved that show xD. Philip José Farmer wrote the first Riverworld books in the early 70s also, so maybe they influenced each other a bit (or maybe it was just a recurring theme in the 70s or something). In any case, it's made me start thinking about what kind of geography along with what kinds of flora and fauna I might want to put into the world.

In any case, I'll keep thinking on the idea and I'll post here with any updates and thoughts. =]

    Yes!

I played on a few sites like this and admin'd one for a brief period before school handed my butt to me (shakefist) and I absolutely love this concept and almost never hesitate to throw myself wildly into one when I see it happening. Consider this interest checked.

Well, the idea is definitely going ahead now! I have pretty much all my information and documents written up, and I'm just working on graphics now (or rather I've conscripted someone to do them for me *cough*). Once that's done then it will be all ready to go! =D

This looks really interesting and it's good that it'll be such a wide arrange of character types to chose from :)

For the love of all that is holy, yes. I was involved in one time travel RP a long time ago and there was soooo much potential there but it died before I could have any fun with it. If this goes up, I'll be all over it like jam on toast.
