Genre: Harry Potter
Difficulty: any is fine
Type(s) of Creature(s): typical Harry Potter world creatures (wizards, werewolves, ect.)
Preferred Rating: any
Preferred Number of Members/Activity: um...small but active, I'm not crazy about huge sites because it is usually hard for new members to get anyone to rp with
Preferred Time where RPG is set in: Present or Future (sorry not a Maurader era fan.)

Other Notes:What I am really looking for is something that centers more on the adults of the Wizard World. So if your site is a 'School' focused rp I'm probably not interested.

-Runs around in circles- -knocks you out, rolls you in a sack and drags you off with me-

Oh--what? I can't just do that? Really??

'Adult Harry Potter' is music to mine ears. Sooo many people want 'school'. I mean, so many people want school it's not even funny.

We at ASMM got so sick of school, we destroyed it. Mwahaha!

I did a pretty thorough breakdown of what ASMM offers, so there are no surprises, in another thread a moment ago, so I will make some suitable edits so it better answers your questions/what you're looking for in a game, and cross post it.

We are a little community (a handful of players, but a good selection of characters to interact with) that enjoys good writing in conjunction with creative endeavour, the ability to plot, think on one's feet and generally have fun while playing. We are highly sociable--it is not uncommon for a new player to get a slew of adds to their instant messengers once accepted, and open threads never stay hanging for long.

We are interested in our players. Not just as writers or as their characters, but as people. This is one of the fundamental parts of AS:MM.

We do do a few things differently, however. We are a hosted board with our own URL, we operate on a 'username per player' basis, not per character, and we are largely 'bring your own plot'. ASMM also contains mature themes--this isn't a game for kids (in fact, all of our characters are 25-45), this is life or death. This is change at its ugliest.

We also don't use Hogwarts as a base of operations. In fact, we're not school-oriented at all.

AS:MM is set in 2010, so technically speaking it is post the downfall of Voldemort, but for our purposes, this happened in a very different way. This considered, given the present setting, Voldemort, and indeed, Harry Potter are merely household names.

In order to gain ground on Voldemort, the Ministry of Magic broke a vow as old as the magical society itself. They let Muggles into their world. It wasn't a public affair. Military units were inducted to patrol the streets and aid aurors, and they were given wands that were pre-loaded with certain spells (courtesy of WWW's). They were sworn to secrecy; the magical world depending on their ability to disappear again, once this war was over.

Only, things don't always go as planned.

Voldemort was vanquished, Death Eaters were tossed into prison and Harry Potter slipped into a coma and remained that way for almost a decade.

In that time, the world has changed. Muggle Britain has changed hands--covertly, a fascist political party has taken over and developed a magic-proof institution called, The Rabbit Hole, where Wizards are taken--kidnapped from the streets. Some come out with no memory and no magic. Others never come back at all.

The world is falling apart, still paying the price for the Ministry's decision, and everything is on a knife's edge. Muggles aren't stupid, they won't stay clueless forever.

More and more Wizards are vanishing and all manner of creatures are crawling from the woodwork.

Where do you stand in a society that is crumbling? Will you jump, or will you be pushed?

Be Muggle. Be Wizard. Choose your side. Join the revolution.

This is not the only plot in operation on the board--there are others, and all of them, including this one, are not admin run. The players decide what happens, how it happens, and who to. If you want your character snatched off the street, thrown screaming into the back of a van, you don't ask permission. You do a write up on the planning forum, and you do it.

You can, if you wish, introduce your own plots--maybe there was something you always wanted to do but never got played out. Post a summary, or notes on your ideas in a public planning area and have the players help you out.

And so far, so good.

So, after that long winded post, if you're looking for something completely different--something powerful and lucrative, then we're your cup of tea.

ooooh have i got a place for you! :] We are definitely a larger site though, but worry not, we are very very easy to get involved with. We've got some threads that will help you start threading with older members and we're super, super friendly. We have both students and adults to RP, but its definitely not school focused. More of what happens, happens in the adult portion of it.

Exodus 10:21
“Then the Lord said to Moses, 'Stretch out
your hand toward heaven so that there may
be darkness over the land of Egypt, a darkness
that can be felt.'”

In conclusion to what had been the most gruesome series of events the citizens of Volderian Society in 2100 had ever seen, the world was drowned in darkness, a tangible, and altogether terrifying darkness. For three days the people could not function properly. For three days most were confined to their homes in the blackness, with only minimal amounts of wand light to illuminate their shrinking worlds. It was during those three days without light that the greatest and most stealthy coup in the history of mankind occurred. For when the light once again shone down upon society, their leader was dead.

The ninth and final plague to be unleashed upon Volderian Society claimed its last victim during the first day of darkness; The Dark Lord Voldemort was finally destroyed by the one thing he could neither control nor understand; nature. Nature’s desire for self correction sent the world reeling in a series of plagues meant to cleanse the land, and cleanse it they did. When all was said and done, and the lights came back on, a new society had been born.

In this new society, equally new rulers have taken charge. Recognizing their inabilities to run the empire on their own, three predominant leaders have claimed power in this post-Volderian world: Bellatrix Lestrange, Cain Greyback and Everett Michaels -- Working together, though begrudgingly, this triumvirate of power has stabilized a society equally as tyrannous and prejudiced as the last. It seems that nature’s attempts to correct itself have been thwarted by years upon years of hatred and oppression that bred a new tier of citizens ready to progress the Cause at all costs and prevent their precious society from crumbling.

This takeover in power, however, has not arrived without loss. The Italian Resistance, recognizing a time to act, managed to overtake all of Italy and reclaim the land in the name of ‘good.’ Italy has now become a hub of Anti-Cause activity: ‘rehabilitating’ Death Eaters, executing supporters at the newly reestablished Maltalvia Academy for Free Magic and Equal Learning, and propaganda campaigns to gain support throughout the area. It is now less clear than ever as to which side of this epic and everlasting fight is truly fighting for peace.

Mother Nature initiated this revolution, Human Nature has taken charge. Will this society on the verge of destruction prosper as the result of natural intervention? Or will the nature of mankind once again compel him to succumb to Infamy & Entropy?

H:TGD is set in present day with no canons. Though reasonably school-centered, our London and Elsewhere forums host various adults, muggles, squibs, half-breeds, and animagi. We have about 90 registered accounts (though nowhere near that many actual players XD) and are a fairly easygoing bunch who will always welcome a newcomer and are only mildly insane ^^;;

Hogwarts: The Great Divide

(Posted Image)

Modern day London.

The trio (Ron, Harry, and Hermione) have long since graduated, though what has become of them is not widely known nor does anyone know what has become of Lord Voldemort, which is altogether a good thing. But today the mention of such names will only get you an odd stare as many wizards and witches have come to think of the Boy-Who-Lived and He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named as mere legends and folk tales, especially since there is no one from that era still around. At least not in Hogwarts. The Hogwarts of the past is long gone and a new era of young witches and witches are ready to make their name. The geography and houses are still same, but new professors, staff, and rules make this a Hogwarts like you’ve never seen.

But London is bigger than just Hogwarts and there wouldn’t be a divide without the other side...

Muggles. Adult/child wizards. And squibs. There’s a thin line between the wizarding world and the muggle world, and no where is the line thinner than in London. Even outside of Hogwarts in Northern London lies Teddington where the rich and famous muggles reside, often unknowingly befriending magical neighbors. Nearby is Hammersmith where wizards and muggles co-exist peacefully, while the muggles in Westminster are barely even aware of magic. For the most part, the muggle world is blissfully unaware of the comings and goings of witches and wizards alike, but there are those who know and choose to keep their secrets, often mingling and immersing themselves in the magical world. But there are also muggles who are very aware of magic and, either out of jealousy or fear, want nothing more than to expose it and keep it under control. By any means necessary.

Welcome to Hogwarts: The Great Divide where magic, muggles, and these modern times combine (and clash) to create a world like you’ve never seen before!

    _breaking news! -- july 13, 2007

Lights flashed up at the tall, graying man standing behind the large oak podium. Colored puffs of smoke erupted from the large cameras, clouding the faces of the photographers and reporters who had gathered for the press meeting. Adjusting the papers strewn across the podium, the Head of the Department for Magical Law Enforcement looked up, adopting a grave face as he addressed the scene in front of him. "There has been a great misdeed done to all those in the Wizarding World. Our Minister of Magic, Preston Ramsey, was found dead in his home yesterday evening." He paused as the audience gasped in union, "Cause of death is undetermined at this point in time, but the Department of Magical Law Enforcement is investigating the occurrence and we are confident that we will bring the culprit to justice. Please, if you have any information that may be relevant to our investigation, please owl the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, Level 2, The Ministry. Thank you."

He stepped down from the podium, wiping the perspiration that had formed on his brow as he had given his speech. The Minister's death was indeed a problem, especially with the new school year just around the corner. Who they would get to replace him was an even bigger problem and that was something on the lips of all of the reporters still at the scene. Shouting questions up at the Department Head as he made his way off of the stage. Closing remarks of the newscasters could still be heard as he clambered into the Ministry provided car and drove away.

"Well this is indeed a sad day for all those in the Wizarding World. The question on everyone's mind now is though, who's going to replace him? This is Paige Carver, reporting for the Wizarding Wireless Network live at the Ministry -" The broadcast cut off there and tears glistened on the face of the cross legged figure perched in front of the antique radio. The Minister? Dead? Grave times indeed.

    __daily prophet

    july 15, 2007

...and the Department Head of Magical Law Enforcement refused to comment today on the status of the Minister's mysterious death. In other news however, something seems to be stirring over at the Ministry. Could the Wizengamot be deciding on who will replace the Minister?

    july 20, 2007

And it has happened. Today the Wizengamot held a vote and in a 12-16 decision, Ian Dapper has been appointed to Minister of Magic to finish out Preston Ramsey's term in office. Dapper has worked for the British Ministry for four years now in the [department...?] and before that he worked in [country] for their Minister of Magic. When asked how he felt about taking over the position of Minister of Magic, Dapper had this to say. "It is very sad times for all of us here, but coming into this I have confidence that I will be able to fill the very large shoes that our last Minister has left vacant all too early." Well we shall see, wont we Minister?

    july 30, 2007

...During this evening's press conference, our new Minister of Magic, Ian Dapper, was sworn into office by the Wizengamot. Following the inauguration, the Minister gave a short speech in which he outlined his first actions of duty as Minster. "In light of recent events, I will be turning most of my attention to Magical Law enforcement. It is the start of a long crackdown on all crime, both Magical and Non that has been long since due..."

    august 10, 2007

Heightened security has been placed around all cells in Azkaban. Not only has Dapper increased the number of Dementors guarding each cell, there is a bill on the table to finally have wizard guards stationed on the island. If this bill passes, there will be a daily shift of ten wizard guards surrounding the prison to make sure that nothing gets out of hand. Many witches and wizards are in favor of this change and have been for years. Many do not trust the Dementors, so we will probably see this bill pass in the coming days.

    august 17, 2007

A new bill has passed within the Ministry to require all witches and wizards to carry an Identification Card with them at all times. Anyone stopped who does not have their card on them will be brought to the Ministry for an identification confirmation before accompanied to their place of residence. All cards cannot be faked or reproduced, and must be applied for, in person, before September the first at the Ministry's Department of Magical Law Enforcement Office. There, you will present your wand and will be asked to fill out an individualized questioner to be used for identification confirmation. Giving out information about your questioner is punishable to up to four months in Azkaban, as is giving out your ID card.

    september 1, 2007

The scarlet steam engine left at exactly 11 am. this morning on it's way to Hogwarts. Platform 9 and 3/4 saw it's share of the new security measures, with Aurors stationed at the entrance of the platform, checking ID's and a checkoff list of all those who are supposed to be boarding the train. Trunks were magically scanned for any illicit material and the appearance of Probity Probes ensured that no one attempted to gain access to the platform or train in disguise. One middle aged wizard was stopped for not remembering his ID card and was accompanied off of the platform, presumably on their way to the Ministry. Only time will tell what is in store for this new term at Hogwarts. All we know is that Magic is Might?!

Take a look at Divine Glass. We have adult and professor canons if you're interested, and are introducing a few new classes as well :]

Divine Glass

(Written by an anonymous member of the old Order)

Death is but crossing the world, as friends do the seas; they live in each other still. Friends will always reside in our hearts, even after they have passed. For, their spirits need to be present; memories fill the void that their passing leaves within us. We all love and live in that which is omnipresent.

The portrait of Professor Dumbledore still hangs in the room in which, in life, he once resided and worked at Hogwarts’ school of witchcraft and wizardry. The dusty frame sits alongside the other likenesses of the previous headmasters and headmistresses of the prestigious school. Dumbledore seems content and happy most days, a fond reminder of how wonderful he was to the ones who knew him well in life. He is not as he was depicted in a certain book, which was written by a once famous reporter, gaining popularity in the first year of its released and then practically shunned by the bulk of the wizarding world after You-Know-Who was vanquished. We of the preceding Order remember him warmheartedly. But, perhaps, the only one who knew the true Dumbledore is the boy who live.

That boy is no longer a boy. All children grow up, eventually. Harry Potter is now happily married with children - two of which are attending Hogwarts this year. The youngest boy was named after Dumbledore and Professor Snape. We suspect that the name was a comfort to Harry, who had both affectionate and jumbled memories about the two men of whom he significantly admired. It was said that when Harry’s wife was pregnant with her first child, Mr. Potter did often visit Hogwarts to ask the advice of Dumbledore’s portrait. But, alas - his visits were always short and discontented. The portrait was only the memory of the distinguished professor, after all. It wasn’t really him…

In this divine glass, they see face to face; and their converse is free as well as pure.
This is the comfort of friends, that though they may be said to die, yet their friendship and society are, in the best sense, ever present. That is because friendship is immortal.

However, the professor did tell Harry something strange upon one of his final visits to the room where Dumbledore’s portrait was located (as the visits ceased after Harry’s first son was born). The portrait spoke of an age-old legend in Hogwarts that was practically forgotten among the newer generation of wizards. There was a rhyme accompanying it.

Oh, the torment in the race,
the grinding scream of death
and the stroke that hits the vein,
the hemorrhage none can staunch,
the grief, the curse no man can bear.

But there is cure in the house,
and not outside, no
not from others but from them, their bloody strife.
We sing to you, dark gods beneath the earth.

Now hear, you blissful powers underground -- answer the call, send help.
Bless the children, give them triumph now.

Confused by the meaning of this, Harry did ponder over the words, writing them out and showing his friends. But, as time went on, the pressures of family life pushed the recollection of what Dumbledore’s memory had told him from his thoughts. That is, until his two sons came home from Christmas break. And, Harry found the parchment upon which he’d first written the words ten years ago.

He, naturally, showed it to his sons. Being curious, James and Albus decided that, when they returned to Hogwarts, they’d unravel the mystery of the passage themselves. But, what deep secret could Hogwarts hide that has not yet been discovered. That, my friends, is for you to ascertain in your own time…

Unravel the Mystery…before the legend becomes reality and all is lost to chaos…

What's funny about our RPG is that we're school-based, but most of our current chars are all adults. LOL. And what's even funnier is that some of the most dramatic stuff happens between all of them.

But anyway, we're two years old today, and just coming back from a five-month break. So far there's seven members, six of which are veterans who are SUPER excited that Cauldwell is finally coming back. ^^ We've always had PG threads, although we allow anything up to R, as long as it's tagged. Anyway since we're just reopening we're not quite active yet, but we should be soon, considering how crazy excited we all are...

QUOTE

» the death of blissful ignorance.

Homo sapien has walked Earth for thousands of years. He has walked, starved, survived, and reproduced; he has fought battles, fought wars, and upon those wars, civilizations rose. He was unlike any other animal in that he had free will. Free thinking. And for so many years, he has fought, discovered, fought, adventured, and... fought. But he also had a knack for being unaware of the most obvious things around him. For as long as he walked earth, his brother was just out of sight, and seemed to stay that way for all time. Until now.

The modern age has brought worlds of new life, new thinking. It is the year 2007, and once more, we are at war -- but this is a war unlike any other on a scale never before seen. The extremists, the revolutionaries of the wizarding world have banded together, led by a man known only as Constantine, and have turned the world on its side by exposing the other side of civilization that man never knew about: the magical population. The entire globe is wrought with war, man against man. Muggle against magic.

And amidst the horrific, war-torn times, there are the people who only wish to live like they had since the dawn of civilization. Schools across the world have been forced to close, and in America, several schools were forced to gather into one of the only open establishments left, a world-renowned wizarding school called Cauldwell Academy.

The war is on. Which side will you choose?

» the catalyst of a rude awakening.

It's been nearly ten years since Lord Voldemort's defeat, and the world is already in shambles.

Cauldwell Academy is set amidst a full-scale world war, one that has been named Muggles vs. Magic by the wizarding press. Revolutionary attacks, revolts, public protests, and other acts of violence have been considered common since Christmas, 2005, the day that the revolution truly began. It was on this day that an unknown group of witches and wizards made their very first attack within the house of the most powerful man in the world: the President of the United States. Normally, such an event could be covered up with the simple wave of a wand, but this extremist group, these revolutionaries, had chosen to reveal the entire Wizarding world during one of the most televised events in the nation: the President's annual Christmas speech. The amount of Muggles that witnessed the attack, televised or not, had been thousands, perhaps even more, and it was this one fact that prevented the Wizarding Council from attempting to modify so many memories.

The Muggles, of course, had only witnessed the violent nature of the revolutionaries, and therefore assumed that every witch and wizard in the world was like them. Even after all the peace talks and the demonstrations, the non-magical population could not accept the fact that not all witches and wizards were evil. Most witches and wizards all want the same thing, for the world to go back to the way it was. Unfortunately, this can never happen; with such a large-scale war at hand, change is inevitable.

Cauldwell Academy has been literally thrown into this worldwide dilemma, forced to host over twice its regular amount of students since March, 2006. Both students and staff alike are on the edge, afraid for what else the revolution will cost them. Already there have been attacks near school grounds. For the students of Cauldwell, it was a rude awakening; as for the others, it was a cruel reminder of what had caused them to move from the comfort of their homes.

The entire world is falling apart, and unfortunately, there isn't much anyone can do about it. The only thing left to do is pick a side and fight.

We've just moved to our new home. The adults are very important on the site and personally, I prefer their stories, so you can be sure they get a lot of attention.

There are many things going on at Dementis Furiosus. Here is just a sample of the fun and games:

(Posted Image)
The intellectuals. That’s how they’re known. They work hard to achieve the best possible grades and often sacrifice the chance of a social life to do so. Not these guys - they work hard and they play hard. Anything they can get their hands on is fair game and the parties tend to get a little out of hand. However, they’re also trying to learn to become animagi. It’s only a matter of time before something goes wrong. Alcohol and a transformation attempt could meet far too easily…

(Posted Image)
A Slytherin dating a Gryffindor has thrown the whole rivalry off-balance and no one quite knows what to think any more. Suddenly, people are experimenting with people they would never previously have looked twice at. And it’s great. Only problem is, it’s also against school rules. As long as it is kept quiet, things should be ok. But everyone knows that’s not going to happen…

(Posted Image)
A lot has been happening outside of Hogwarts, too. There is a lot of political speculation in terms of the Ministry’s intentions. A star Quidditch player is in a coma and the cause has been covered up to prevent suspicion. Several people who were destined to be Death Eaters have deserted the cause and gone into hiding. And on top of all of that, the Death Eaters are preparing for their master’s return. The adults of the Wizarding World are preparing for a war. And they’re scared.

There’s room for everyone at Dementis Furious - students, professors, adult wizards, death eaters… if you can think of it, we can accommodate it! Just because the books said something happened, doesn't mean it has to happen here... care to take on the challenge of re-writing history?

Mine is a wonderful mix so far!! We have many canons open, I hope you will check it out!!

Through the years many odd things had happened in this world. This would be no different. The year is 2001 and things are not as they would seem. The school is running smoothly and the Ministry is going along with many things that would never have been thought of doing.

The Dumbledores have a lot to celebrate for there daughter Ariana has been a pointed as headmistress of Hogwarts. Albus has been a pointed as Minister of magic. No one would have seen this coming seeing as the Dark Lord had been planning the death of Albus.

These things seemed to come about when a large time shift happened and someone went back in time and changed a few things to make it to were the "greater good" would happen. This made sure that Ariana was saved from her troubles and Albus was saved from being killed.

Issues would follow with the changes in the time loop and one thing would be that Harry Potter would not be the one that lived. His family was never killed by Voldermort and they took great care of there son. On the new time loop the Longbottoms lost there lives trying to save there son and he was then blessed or cursed in his eyes with the powers of Voldemort.

Harry would be placed in Slytherin house and would soon become close friends with Draco Malfoy. Neville was the one to be placed with his Gran, but he is missing the love that he really needs. So he falls in with her muggle born friends Hermione and the pure-blood friend Ron.

Can this time loops last or will it break and go back to normal?
