Dear forum designers....

PLEASE, ALL OF YOU, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, STOP USING FIXED/STATIONARY EVERYTHING. Not everyone has the same screen size or resolution as you, and chances are if one of those fixed sidebars or chats that everyone loves to use now looks good on your resolution, it looks like crap on everyone else's. I hate to be THAT PERSON, but there is a reason why you don't see fixed elements on professionally designed sites--they're made to be accessible to everyone, not just everyone that happens to have the same screen size as you.

Let's pretend that RPGD had these same elements, so I can convey why this is so irritating to me.

IN SHORT, I want to see your sites! Stop hiding them from me! I can't read anything when I zoom to 60% to see around your fixed elements. STOP IT.

    I prefer fluid layouts that fit to my screen, even when I change it. Of course, I've only seen mostly WordPress websites do that. xD Is it bad that I can't keep playing with my WP because it does that? Oh well.

    This is seriously the reason I DON'T join a lot of RPGs, even though the theme/plot/etc. is really, really good. I'm a blogger, and I'm picky, though. The layout's the first thing I notice, and I can't fight the urge to view the CSS and whatnot when it's a new site.

    The cboxes that move have to be some of THE worst. Oooooh, and don't forget the nonstop CAPS IN EVERYTHING.

    Thank you! Size 2 italic font is a turn off. Not being able to zoom in on it is when I just say "screw it" and click the X button.

    YES, and its so sad, because sometimes they're really beautiful sites, but it's like, 'I just cannot navigate around this'. I want to find whoever first started using those elements and just shake them a lot and shout in their face like a crazy person like, 'THIS IS A BAD TREND, PETEY, YOU STARTED A BAD TREND.'

    I have a lot of feelings on this. XD

    This so much times a million. I even have a normal screen resulution but i generally only use 2/3 of the width for the browser, the rest is for chatwindows or a tv show or winamp etc. I HATE elements that overlayer the forum. Instant x.

    -Coughs- After reading this....I made my fixed sidebar into a peekaboo side bar so it can be closed >.> Since I've had a few comments from players that have had trouble with it. Hoping that helps :D

    I didn't know what those were called but I hate them, too and they fit my screen :p It's just so distracting.
