A West...er...Elfside Story

My retelling and casting of Westside Story for Bordertown. By the way, if anyone wants to RP some of this plot or characters, hit me up. I am so freaking on this.

The Jets Bloods
An elf gang (with a few half-elves that can pass for full) with a special hatred of humans and half-elves that can't pass for pure. Elves in the Bordertown-verse are tall, thin with pointed ears, silver eyes, hair and pale skin with a silvery sheen. Male and female members.

Tony Torin: One of the original members of the Bloods, Torin outgrew the group and has been spending his days working at the Dancing Ferret pub. Close friends with Riff.

Riff: Lowborn elf, Bordertown native and second-in-command of the Bloods and put in charge of the upcoming rumble. Riff is intelligent, charismatic and bit of a joker.

Ice Thorn Leaf-and-Tree: Lowborn elf, Bordertown native and Leader of the Bloods. He has allowed his second to take charge of the upcoming rumble with the Pack over turf. Cool-headed and cruel.

Anybodys: Scrappy short-haired female youngster of the gang. Anybodys desperately wants to fit in with the rest of the gang and be respected by them. She is often mocked and teased because she is part human, even though she was raised in an elfin home.

Baby John Baby Prince: A Highborn elf from across the border from Elfland. The youngest of many children, Baby Prince didn't have much in the way of prospects in his own family and so went to Bordertown and fell in with the Bloods. It quickly became apparent that the young timid elf is in over his head.

Action: Hot-headed highborn elf from Bordertown. He and his family were disgraced a generation back and is often looked down on by the well-to-do elves, giving Action a major chip in his shoulder.

The Sharks Pack
An all-human gang of mixed backgrounds with a special hatred of elves, half-elves and magical beings. Male and female members.

Bernardo: Originally from Puerto Rico, Bernardo ran away to Bordertown with his baby sister Maria. Bernardo fell in with the Pack who protected him and his sister from Bloods. He quickly rose to a prominent place in the gang and recently took over the gang when founder and former leader, Sammy Tucker, stepped down.

Chino: Bernardo's best friend, the pair met in Bordertown and hit it off. A middle member of the Pack, Chino helped get Bernardo and Maria into Pack protection.

Anita: Not an official Pack member, she lives with the rest of the gang and is married to Bernardo. Anita is Bordertown native and grew up in El Barrio, Bordertown's predominantly Hispanic district.

Maria: Bernardo's baby sister, who resides with him in the Pack headquarters. She and her brother ran away to Bordertown from Puerto Rico to seek new opportunities. Maria is enamored of the magical aspects of Bordertown.

Sammy Tucker: Pack founder and former leader. He officially stepped down to let Bernardo take the reigns, but he still plays a large role in the running of the gang.

Others

Velma & Graziella Vervain & Getalia: Wealthy highborn elves from the richest distrct, Dragon's Tooth Hill. The girls are part of the Dragon's Fire gang (largely considered a poser gang by other groups) and come down to the Blood's district to slum it for the weekends and freak the hell out of their uptight parents.

Doc Farrel Din: Owner of The Dancing Ferret the pub where Torin works. A highborn elf, he has a low tolerance for gang violence and racism and is endlessly frustrated with the antics of the Bloods and the Pack

Lt. Schrank & Officer Krupke Lt. Saille & Officer Kit-Kat: Members of the Bordertown police force, the Silver Suits. Saille is a lowborn elf, bigoted towards humans and dreams of climbing the social ladder of Bordertown. Kit-Kat is a halfie officer.

Glad Hand: Member of the Diggers, a peace-promoting group that offers safe houses for those in need.

The Story
In the Soho District of Bordertown, two gangs, the elfin Bloods and the human Pack vie for dominance of the streets. It's trouble as usual until the day of a Digger-hosted party at one of Soho's popular clubs (Danceland).

Riff comes up with the idea to challenge Bernardo to a gang rumble at the party and persuades old Blood member Torin (now a bartender at the Dancing Ferret) to come along to the dance as backup. Blood leader Thorn agrees to the plan.

At the party, Torin meets Maria and the pair begin to dance, falling head over heels in love. When the pair kiss, a fight nearly breaks out at the club and Riff formally invites Bernardo for a rumble meeting at the Dancing Ferret.

After the party, Torin sneaks off to the Packer headquarters, Crystoble Lightworks Building, hiding his hair and ears under a hoodie. He meets Maria on the second floor fire escape and the two confess their love.

At the Dancing Ferret, the Bloods meet to wait for the Pack, under disgruntled protest by owner Farrel Din. When the Pack and Torin arrive, the rumble terms are decided-- no weapons, no magic. Just fists vs fists and one Blood and one Pack champion. The Silver Suits arrive shortly after and attempt to get rumble information while Lt. Saille shows his bigotry towards humans.

The next day, Torin meets Maria at the clothing shop where she and Anita work. Anita agrees to keep their meeting a secret. When Maria finds out about the rumble, she begs Torin to put a stop to it.

At the rumble, Bernardo and Riff, each gang's second in command and champions begin their fight while the rest of the gang, including leaders Sammy Tucker and Thorn Leaf-and-Tree look on. Each member secretly packed weapons just in case the other side went back on the deal. Torin arrives to put a stop to the fight. In the chaos, Bernardo stabs Riff and Torin inadvertently stabs and kills Bernardo. Both gangs flee as the sounds of the Silver Suits draw nearer. In shock, Torin doesn't move from the spot until shaken and pushed by Anybodys to flee.

Maria waits for Torin on the roof of the Lightworks building when Chino delivers news of her brother's death at Torin's hands. Enraged, Maria confronts Torin, before collapsing in his arms and the two spend the night together.

Meanwhile, the Pack are desperately looking for Torin. Thorn sternly instructs the rest of the gang to keep cool and level-headed as the suits start asking around. Anybody appears and tells the gang that Chino has gotten himself a gun to kill Torin. Normally, guns don't work in the city (magic and technology clash badly), but word on the street is that this is a tricked out piece guaranteed to fire everytime. Thorn thanks Anybody and refers to her as a Blood, which is the most acceptance in the gang the girl has ever gotten.

The next morning, Torin sneaks out of the Pack building, but Anita overhears him and Maria talking. After a long talk, Anita agrees to help Maria and Torin flee Soho. When the Silver Suits come calling, Anita goes in Maria's place to the Ferret, where Torin and Maria agreed to meet.

At the Ferret, the Bloods have gathered in full. Farrel Din is out, getting supplies and trading goods for the couple. The Bloods torment and abuse Anita and are stopped by Farrel Din walking in the door. Hurt and scared, Anita screams that Chino found out about Maria and Torin and used the gun to kill Maria.

When Torin hears the news, he is heartbroken. He flees the safety of the Ferret and runs towards Pack territory, yelling for Chino to kill him. There he sees Maria, alive and well and looking for him.

It is too late. Chino heard Torin's cries and fires the gun into Torin's back. He dies in Maria's arms. As both sides gather, Maria takes the gun and threatens to kill them all, asking Chino how many she can kill and have one bullet for herself. She can kill to, she says, because it takes hate to kill and she has hate. In grief, she drops the gun as the Silver Suits arrive and Torin's body is carried away.

Yes, clearly I have too much time on my hand. Will probably do this again. Future Bordertown "adaptations" will be: Rent, Peter Pan, The Labyrinth and the Outsiders. And yes, I will make posters. Too much free time
