Title: How Do You Dress?
Jay Serge - September 14, 2007 12:03 PM (GMT)
Myself i use to dress to impress now a days I just wear anythiny really, not really to bothered about what people think of me due to how I look. If their shallow enough to judge me by the way i dress, no need to waist my energy talking to them :D

I dress to impress in the sense that I am concious of what I wear, want to conform to the idea of my aesthetic and inspire the use of certain adjectives when I pass people by. "Dress to impress" isn't really such a bad thing to call it.

I wear what I like or what catches my eye.
I used to wear lots of dark, rich lace and velvet and leather (and it was gorgous!) but now I tend to wear anything that makes me squeal when I see it inthe shop - like bright pink 80's skirts, or zebra print tops, or just about anything! I also get excited when I see shiny things like glittery trousers or shiny shoes! :p
*Is very easily amused*

I dress to look nice, but really it's more for myself over anyone else. I love looking pulled-together, it gives me such an empowered feeling even though I know looks are only visual and attitude is important and whatever.
Mainly, I'll try anything once so long as it's fairly comfortable. I love me my nice jeans because they're the only kind that fit right (curses, being tall!) and feel amazing. I own far too many t-shirts, but at least they're cute and stuff so that's good. Lately, however, I've really started liking those trazpeeze shirts and other dressy shirts that aren't too girly.
Shoes wise, though, I had closed toes. I love flip flops way too much and wear them as often as physically possible.

I wear what I want and dont care what others think.
A lot of people seem to think that, because I have that view, I roll out of bed in the morning and throw on the first thing that comes to my hand.
Not true.
I take pride in my appearance and I like to dress nice, in what I feel are comfortable and nice clothes.
But I'm not doing it for anyone else; Im doing it for myself.

I'm very conscious about what I wear. When I'm with close friends or family I don't care, even to class I have been known to show up in my pajamas, but when I go out I dress diligently. Dressing well makes me feel good, more confident, and I want my clothing to reflect a bit about who I am. I really love business / business casual, which is good because I have to wear it a lot for presentations and interviews.

This is actually a hard question for me to answer. I definitely do not care about what other people think, and just go with what I want to wear - but, it seems to impress people. Like Lothlómendil mentioned, I definitely feel better when I dress well. It just boosts up one's confidence, and it feels great.

I couldn't agree more with that --
although I feel comfortable wearing just about anything,
whether it be trackies or pajamas,
I feel even better when I'm dressed somewhat nice.
It is a definite confidence boost.
- nods head -
So in a way, I suppose you could say
I dress to impress.
lemondrops - December 22, 2007 03:25 AM (GMT)
I dress for me, nobody else. As long as I'm happy and comfortable in it, then I don't care what everyone else thinks. However, I truly believe the stuff I'm happiest in could be taken as dressing for success, as well. *shrugs*

I I don't like the fact people might be calling me a slob so I'm always wearing somthing nice

I definitely dress to impress, even if I have a terrible style and look like I didn't
make an effort. Actually, half the time, I dress to look like it's a casual attire.
Most of the time, I don't really care. But dressing up makes me feel more
confident. I mean, I'm not perfect - I admit that. So I try to look pretty to
cover that up. And it definitely cheers me up a whole lot.

i dress to impress most of the time. i don't really care what people think of me, but it's just easier to wear something that people won't absolutely hate, and as a answer to that treat you like you're below them (i hate those people anyway.)

At this point in my life I can honestly say that I dress how I want and in a way that I feel most suits my body frame. I rarely take on a new trend because most new looks really don’t flatter my 5’0 frame.
As for the dressing to impress part, I can’t say I do that but I do dress for the occasion. I wear formal gowns to the balls I attend. I wear nice clothes to church and work. But when I go to the gym I don’t worry if I am wearing the newest Juicy track suit. Or worry that my jeans have a rip in the knee while I am at the grocery store.
I really enjoy individual style. So in the end I think people shouldn’t be too judgment on another person about clothes. Mind you I don’t want to see someone’s thong. (Yuck) But that is a whole other survey.

Dear god, the first time I read the topic title, I read 'How OFTEN do you dress?'.
Completely different story.
Nine times out of ten I'm in a uniform of some sort, I don't get changed immediately after getting home from work - so I tend to lounge about Cashier Style for a bit. I wear a lot of jeans and t-shirts, though I'll dress up for my own delight when I'm going out. I like to look good when I'm clubbing, most of the time I couldn't care less though.

Yesterday I wore the following outfit to the movies.
Glow in the dark red + white tophat (it's really noticeable at the movies. I was being obnoxious. I'm sorry :( My friends madce it for me for my fifteenth birthday. They covered it in glow stick stuff or something, I can't even remember. Now it's just covered in glow in the dark stickers. Long story.)
Yellow contact lenses (I found a shop selling them for like $30 or something. Don't know why I bought them. Don't ask)
Spiderman Gloves (That was a dare. Got $10 for wearing them all day heh heh)
A fluro Pink Shirt (Hmmm... I'd never buy one of these but I got it for my birthday from the person I was going to the movies with. I didn't want to look rude)
Black Jeans (Yawn.)
Needless to say, I really just pick anything that catches my eye. However, I did take the hat off after the ads were over. I was like a beacon once the lights completely dimmed.
I didn't want to look too obnoxious. I was watching Atonement which isn't really the movie you wear a glow in the dark hat to.

Hummm. What sort of movie DO you wear a glow in the dark hat to, and not be obnoxious?
Hilarious all the same. Wouldn't miss you on the street at all... cookies for bravery, though. :D

I tend to look like a skater crossed with someone from Final Fantasy. Which the, of course.
Radsos - February 28, 2008 08:49 AM (GMT)
Haha. I am rarely fully dressed when at home. Typically, outside of home, I am dressed in what I like - which is normally whatever feels comfortable (firstly... something that looks good on me comes second). Unless of course I am forced to dress to impress, which happens all of once every six months for something or other.
What I look like when I am fully dressed? Well, several people have said that I could be a character (as in my own character) on Naruto. I am always unsure of whether I should be flattered or offended - not because I haven't seen it (to the contrary, I watch the Japanese subtitled versions all the time) - but because a lot of people either love it or they hate it... So depending on the person it could be an insult or a compliment.

I'm basically a lazy person, really. Every morning, I wake up about forty-five minutes before my first class so I really don't have time to be putting together something impressive. I'm usually just in jeans, a shirt, and a hoodie. It's comfortable and, well, I couldn't care less about what people think of my clothes. I've got no one I want to impress. Plus, most people at my school do tend to stick to just the shirt & jeans, anyway.
December, Esq - February 28, 2008 07:41 PM (GMT)
I wear what I want even if it's a band t-shirt and a spikey bracelet. Which makes people raise their eyebrows at me and my mom hide her face in shame, but hey, it's what I like.
However, I'm not a lazy dresser. I never ever ever ever go outside in pajamas. As a matter of fact, I can only wear pajamas when it is dark outside. When I'm ill and I have to stay home, I wake up and change into normal clothes even if I'm going to be sleeping all day.

I am a dog trainer by profession so I don't even 'dress to impress' at work. I dress nicely but I assume what I wear will have dog fur, paw prints on it. And I have to move freely to train the dogs so it's usually jeans and a decent shirt. I work in a prison so it can't be t-shirts and such. But, definitely no dry cleaning.
At home, well, still more dogs and birds and such. So, yeah, no fancy for me.
Eiger - March 26, 2008 04:19 AM (GMT)
I just wear what I want. I mean, you can't really leave an impressing impression nowadays unless you dress like you're a colorblind schizophrenic who happens to put their underwear outside their tights.
Why should you have to think about what you wear? I've just stocked my closet with my own chrome-colored dress code; coats from the R.E.I. and north face pullovers. If it's reliable, efficient, comfortable, and won't get you shot during a walk down the street it's just fine. It's cold and rainy up here, and the "in" thing to do is wear shorts and t-shirts outside. I've got no part in that.
But if I'm going to a funeral or event or something I guess I can dress to impress. Maybe I'll even comb my hair.
