Title: Apple Vs. Microsoft
Description: The Ultimate Poll

WELL. I'm just about to get a MacBook in the mail. It will be my first ever Mac computer. I was reared on Windows, but with all of the problems I've been having/have had, I figured it may be time to switch. That's my story, what's yours?
Does the OS really matter? Do Windows and Mac both have their pros and cons while still being superior OS's? What is your opinion, Mac or Windows?

I have a 2 month old Intel Mac mini, running OS X Tiger. I love it, and yes I think the OS matters. =] Need any mac help? PM Me.

Mac hands down.
Is this even a legit question? I mean, we all know Apple is superior. ;)
Seriously, though, Mac is very user friendly and very reliable. It's worth the money---and when you start adding all the accessories and processors and memory to the PC, the price ....basically comes out to the same anyhow since the Mac comes standard with all that.

While I am well aware Mac is better, I still prefer Microsoft >.<

I've grown up with Microsoft, so when I use Apple at school, it's confusing. Though I do like Apple's look a lot and I'm sure that it would be Apple hands down if it wasn't for what I grew up with.

I can go with either. I'm a little more experienced with Microsoft operating systems, so I might be prone to go that way, but I like how well Apple's systems work for multimedia software.

In middle school we were all given laptops because of some huge grant to the school system (when what we really needed were textbooks that weren't falling apart at the seams...) Unforutunately, the laptops were macs, and they NEVER worked and were always breaking down. It drove people crazy. Now anyone who had to go through fighting with their laptop for two years is not so much a true Windows lover but a fervent Mac hater.

Oh god Mac all the way. It is faster, better and doesn't have all the freaking pop up crap and useless things. I could go on and on but that would bore people.

Well...Microsoft vs Apple...mmph. I don't run either, anymore. I run a Linux OS, but that's a whole other story.
Apple has always been very good with its product quality (except for the Ipod, of course, which is just a dire, dire product). It's OS system is very nice--excellent if you're using it for media related work.

I haven't used Apple before, but I'm content with Microsoft, not had any problems so far (happy)

I just ordered my MacBook about an hour ago... and I've very excited to finally be getting rid of this buggy Windows machine I currently use. I've had many problems over this machine's life, and don't feel like wasting my time putting up with it's crap anymore.
I'm hoping that my Mac experience will live up to my high expectations. It'll definitely be nice not to have to worry about wasting all those precious minutes of my life to run some spyware/anti-virus program all the time, and having to reboot every friggin' day when something just... stops working randomly. >_>

I'm goin the way of bill gates.

I will quote what my optics and holography professor once said, "Mac is too accommodating. I need a machine I can beat into submission."

Well, it really depends. I was raised using both but for me it doesn't really matter. I usually prefer using Mac for Laptops and Microsoft for a Desktop. (even though I have an Microsoft laptop. ><) It mostly depends on what you're doing. It doesn't matter for me really. Though, I'd rather have a Mac as long as Adobe Photoshop Seven is on it.

I prefer Linux. However, most of my software and hardware ends up working better in Windows. I'd pick Mac over Windows, though, if they were the only choices.

I'm a Windows girl through and through.
That said, I am looking at getting a Macbook Pro as soon as I can afford one. I have a super-smexy Windows desktop with dual core and a buttload of ram, so when I upgrade the laptop, why bother getting the same but smaller?
So I'm going Mac there.
In my experience (school and uni computers - there's something truly evil about anything that belongs to a government organisation, regardless of OS, I believe) Macs are the devil. They have the spinny-wheel of doom, and I can't handle not having a right mouse button...
The lack of taskbar also bothers me. I like to see all my windows. And I like to have them all maximised so my screen doesn't look cluttered, and Mac OS just won't do that for me.
It's so all about a Mac, with Mac OSX and Windows Vista dual boot for when I get too frustrated and want to throw it out the window..

Both have their uses. PCs are great for networking and for running all of the stats programs I needed for school. And if you're into gaming (not my thing), it's the only way to go. I've used PCs at school and work all the time, and they're great.
But my home computer is a mac. I've never had a computer virus. I had a hard drive die on me once in the 15+ years I've used macs - I was able to salvage all of the data off of it, send it in, and get it back in less than a week FREE from the best customer service care on the planet (eat my shorts, Microsoft!) in perfect condition. My mac is great for browsing the 'net, editing graphics, playing Myst, and just doing all of the home computer things I like to do. I'm very happy with my mac :)

Macs can use standard mice. Just plug it in and you've got your right-click. ^_^
As for the taskbar, I missed it too for a while... then got accustomed to the new way of doing things, and don't even notice. I cmnd+tab my way through windows, often. And there's the dock, of course, which works as the task bar in a sense, though it doesn't scroll through individual windows.
As far as maximizing your windows, you should only have to set your preferred window size once, and it will stay like that each time you launch the application in the future.

I voted other as well. Mac trumps Microsoft, but I adore Linux.
I'm using WinVista on this computer though. meh.

You know... I don't like the look of the Mac's OS, but I hate Microsoft with a fiery passion (in fact, was about ready to kill the creators of Vista for making the WORST OS I have ever had to use yesterday afternoon). If you couldn't tell, I do use Microsoft, but that's because I'd rather have a Dell over a Mac >>; It's all very complicated. I would switch to a totally unrelated OS, Linux, but it's a pain to use and confusing if you don't know what you're doing >>; Which I don't lol.
