Title: Beauxbatons RPG?

aquafina - July 27, 2007 06:29 PM (GMT)
I've been thinking... I can't ever remember seeing a Beauxbatons RPG and I've sort of been playing around with the idea of creating one. But I don't want to do it by myself, or if no one is even remotely interested in joining. I don't have a specific plot in mind just yet, but if this generates any interest I'll definitely work on one.

Depends, really. With canon RPs, it really depends on what the plot is like. I'll join almost any RP that I believe I can get into properly (it's only time constraints that stop me.. *sigh*) but if the plot locks off all the action to just a few members, then it's an absolute no-no.

Personally I don't like RP's that go back through what happens in the books, so again, I probably wouldn't join if it was Beaubaxton's response to the events of the books.. and yet, a lot of other people would. It'd be an interesting view of the canon... but I'm strange like that.

So probably not from my side - but I can see where the idea has merit.

I personally have seen some Durmstrang and Beauxbatons RPs in my time and most of them weren't very well composed. There were a few out there, I even joined one that our once Admin Melly made, but she didn't have the time and closed it.

In addition to what Mousie said, the plot has to be good and can't just revolve around a few people. I'm not sure if canon would be the way to go, you only really know of a few students from GoF and while you could make more, what would be the central plotline really? I mean, Voldemort doesn't really do anything to anywhere except for Britain, so unless you just want it to be normal school life, you may want to hold something to keep people interested.

Now, I'm begging you, please do not make one of the students or anyone really for that matter a "New Dark Lord." I see far too many of them, and frankly, it's getting old. We've had Grindewald, then Voldemort, not too sure how many more people can create without simply making the same thing over again. It's repetive and unimaginative.

There's actually a very good Beauxbatons RPG on Proboards. If you search for Beauxbatons on Google, it comes up like third or something. I've looked at it before, but Beauxbatons as an RP doesn't really interest me.

It sounds really interesting. I might join it.

You know, I found one by accident once, and I was sooo excited... but then I checked it out and it looked awful. I think if there was a well-constructed board, I'd be interested. It's a good concept.

This is funny, I've had a Durmstrang and Beauxbatons RPG before, and I'm currently in progress to make a mixed site of the three schools ^^.

But yeh, I say go for it, but with the suggestions the people gave above.

Well, I've heard of them before but none of them were active. Yeah, I'd probably interested in setting one up too.

I'd join if it was active, good plot and all that; but also what was going on in that lame ass thing I call a life would need to be a factor :p

i would, if it was well-constructed. (:

Hell no. I hate the French.

That, and I don't have time to keep up with the games I'm currently in, let alone another one.

Seriously now, I don't see how this would differ from any other HP game out there. A French school? Big Whoop. What's the catch? What's the hook? Give me that and then I'll answer the question of, 'would you join?' properly.

AshBeanNun - May 25, 2008 03:54 AM (GMT)
Sure. Why not? Unless you have some inexplicable hatred against an entire nation and its people, and it's well-run, I don't see a problem with it. Personally I wouldn't join because I'm tired of school-based RPs, but there's no lack of HP roleplayers out there who still want that.

I would help if you ever come around to making one. I was thinking of doing one as well, but I'm already making a site, and I have a lot of things going on at the moment. But I'd undoubtedly join!
