Often it is said that the unexpected in life is what makes everything worth living in the first place. However, people living in the times of 1977 really beg to differ on that point and would never dare utter it with all the ‘unexpected’ that has occurred lately. Many call the recent changes to society as a revolution, while others whisper it is the final repression of the life we have always known and loved. Either way this nightmare all began just mere months ago, although, it seems to be a much longer span of time. It started with the rise of the darkest wizard anyone had ever seen. He swept into the very corners of existence and did not let go of his hold until he had sucked everything remotely pleasant away. His name is one that is never uttered for fear of what could happen but if you must know for the records the name of the wizard is…Voldemort.


His steadily rising reign is marked by two horrors thus far but it is calculated that a third horror is not far off. The First Horror is all about butterbeer and bracelets. Confused? Let me take the time to explain from the beginning. You see a few months ago a hot band came to town and played at Hogsmeade and anyone who was anyone attended. During the rousing concert butterbeer was served, harmless right? Wrong, the butterbeer was contaminated with a peculiar virus. Anyone else that came into contact with a drinker of the butterbeer contracted the virus as well. At exactly midnight, all fell into a deep slumber and when awoken, a bracelet was located on each person. No matter what has been tried the bracelet has not been removed and the only known purpose is that the bracelet prevents anyone from using magic against those that have a dark mark seal upon them, meaning the Death Eaters. Yet the greater worry is what this virus roaming in our bodies is going to do next and it is likely it will play a part in the next horror to strike us.


The Second Horror to take place was a terrible battle waged against the unsuspecting muggles. There were so many deaths that it remains a question mark just how many died that night. The direct result of this war was that all of the muggle world knows of the existence of the magical world. That thin line separating the two has broken beyond any hope of repair. The muggles know everything but instead of cowering in fear and resigning to a deathly fate, many of the muggles are fighting back. What they have done is created an underground tunnel system, allowing the muggles and magical community to communicate and plot with one another. The muggles and magical ones are banning together but will it really cause any sort of change? Oh yes, and oddly enough every week Voldemort is selecting certain muggles and taking them to his palace. The only change when the muggles come out is that they have an odd tattoo on their neck but they are not able to say anything that they are doing. The marked muggles just go as they please but return to the palace at certain times like clock work…


Want to hear something truly creeping? Voldemort has taken a bride, the Queen of Germany, Kathrina Wagner. Frowning yet? We sure are and no one knows why he has done such a thing. Kathrina sure is a pretty little thing and has always had a darkness surrounding her. Just make no mistake, Voldemort is the head of everything and is the worst dictator anyone could ever imagine. If a death eater accuses you of treason it is the worst fate to befall on you nowadays. You will be carried off beyond the stone walls and if the blood curdling screams are any indication, bad things happen to you there..


I know you must be wondering about the students, right? In all the madness and chaos, three schools remain for the magical folk to attend. There is Hogwarts, located in England, run by the wonderful Albus Dumbledore. No one has a clue as to why Voldemort has not touched the school yet, making us all worry what he is planning to do. But never fear, Dumbledore is secretly bringing together a gathering of people who want to end this time of terror and bring back the life most of us greatly miss. The boys that call themselves the Marauders are a key ingredient to this resistance of sorts. The next school is Durmstrang, located in haunting Germany, run by an avid follower of Voldemort. The school only allows pureblooded males to enter and it is a breeding ground for the future Death Eaters to come. The last school is Beauxbatons, located in France, run by Walburga Black. All royals and nobles are forced to enter, male and female. The whole purpose of the school is to refine the possible future husbands and wives of the Death Eaters. At the start of each term, the Deaths Eaters have their choice of what student they want to have for their own. It is believed that pairing people off into twos will make them easier to deal with and gives Voldemort a leverage over his followers if he needs such a thing. Not that this is known by anyone other than Voldemort and his spooky bride.


I am sorry to say that I have not even gotten to some of the other dreadful aspects of this life we are leading. Two other groups that have really risen are the vampires and the werewolves, most taking to Voldemorts cause and helping him. The creatures roam the streets and take their pick of who they want but they are only allowed to when the sun goes down. During the daylight hours they are not allowed to touch the mortals, not that all listen, which has given rise to slayers and watchers. Then if things are not bad enough you have to worry on the water too where there are filthy renegades that are underhanded for sure and grabbing positions of power wherever they can.


Speaking of watching, we are constantly monitored and anything deemed hazardous to this totalitarian society is burned. Only items containing the Voldemort seal is allowed to be possessed, anyone found with something that does not have the seal will be very sorry indeed. Despite all of this people are finding ways to capture joy for their lives and happiness is a belief many continue to hold onto.



Just keep your eyes alert for what may transpire if you blink, because --- NOW YOU SEE IT, NOW YOU DON'T
