Title: Admin Trouble

Istan - July 18, 2007 06:20 AM (GMT)
Ive recenlty have been trouble with an admin. He rarely rps and hes never helped on anything since ive opened my board. He complaines on nearly evrything i do.

I have an event and he complaines that i use unimportant npcs to make things difficult for the members.

he complains when i ask him to change a few things in his personal group on the board cuase they dont fit in the setting.

I give his char his own race, a powerful weapon, and many streangths with few weaknesses and he complains that his char is underpowered cuase i wouldnt let him use "navis" which is like an energy that can be used to do nifty things. I told him no because his char would be too strong and it wouldnt make sence in the rp world fo the bg he had.

So he goes behind my back and mods his chars app to feign that he had navis all along. I ask him to change it and he compalins and asks "why not?" and refuses.

me and him devised an event when we first opened up and now hes trying to start it right in the middle of a current event and he alters it and makes it highly unrealistic and again refuses to alter it back when i asked.

One of the things that made me mad the most is he revealed plot info in the chatbox.

so ive sent him a msg saying why im mad and again asking him to change what ive sked him to or lose adminship.

hes been excessively unhelpful and unessasarly stubborn coupled with not being active rp wise (other then to compalin and its in ooc)

i was on one of his RPG boards that he made and he made his char uber with a whole bunch of stuff and consitantly doubled his chars power to unreasonalble streangth. this leads me to believe he only wants admin power becuase hes overly powerhungry. And its not like i made my char strong >.< i started him of just as strong as my new members would be.

so im curious: would you have done what i did and sent him the msg? or would you not even wait for how long i have? ect. im just curious about youre opinions and such.

Owh, you've been very right about the message, but you should've done it much sooner. I cannot stand such admins who are power hungry and next to that don't do a damn on a forum. If I had a co-admin who acted like that, the person would've flown out of the door right after a few days. I don't like such attitude. Im curious what reply your got to your messag. But if he don't stop, just demote him to a normal member, then the person knows your serious. And if the person still doesn't get it, it's their loss. Really, what good can such an admin do to your forum?

whoa. yeah, out. kick that guy out! out out out. i kicked two admins off my board with no more warning than an email on the same day just because they didnt post on my board. they did absolutely nothing as admins, but they didnt hamper me in any way. i figured that the whole point of adminship is to actually help around, so if they arent doing that then why keep them. if they are actually stopping you from doing stuff, then treat them just like an annoying member and get rid of him! he's shown he doesn't deserve such a position that you've given him and he will not thank you for letting him stay an admin.

id just watch out if you keep him on your site if you do take away his privileges. he might try to get revenge, so id back up your board (or whatever you can do. i think ive read about backing up) and all that in case he tries to hack you or something.

Drop him. There's no reason to have such an admin on the forum.

Penguiduck - July 18, 2007 06:38 PM (GMT)
I completely agree with everyone else's comments.

I realize that he might get angry and by the way this guy is acting, I'm sure that he's not above hacking into your board or something, as Carey noted. So make sure that your password is something that absolutely no one else can decipher, and I'd make a copy of all the important threads on your board too.

You just have to remember that in the end, it's his loss. Even if you don't want to upset him by taking away his powers, it's your job as the main admin to keep the site up and running. You can't allow an usurper like that to take advantage of his powers. Just kick him out of the staff group both for your sake and the site's.

People like that don't deserve to be an admin. Drop him. Now.

The admins on a board are meant to be looked up to and respected, and that person should not be looked up to or respected in any way. He should get an award that says "jack *** of the year." If he causes trouble after you demote him, take out your adminly ban hammer.

as a precautionary i demoted him after i sent the msg just in case. he replied back said hed compleately agree to what i asked him to do. However in another msg he sent he was all angry again so i dont know whats going to happen. I flatout told him it would not trouble me to have him go.

Speaking from bad admin experiences of my own, I strongly advise you to get rid of them. There's really no two ways about this--you and the game will be a lot happier without them. Better to do that than to cut your losses and run from a game that, essentially, you enjoy (I hope!).

lol yeah i love it. He decided to quit and thats fine. nothing will change except i will get less hassel whenever i try and do something on the board i created from my own mind with little influence other then my other admin. oh well i guess its all over. i told him he can still come back and rp if he wants. But it doesnt bother me since he doesnt do much anyways.

I was never a bad admin .-. infact On my board i was starting to fix all the overpowered ness and it got hacked...

aside from that I was active and I did complain but it doesn't matter you only exercise admin power against me ^^

you really should hear both stories before saying such things oh well...older and more wise about forums...never did quit

I was never power hungry just wanted to quickly end my own event, and start a new basic rpc.
---
me thinks that was a year or two ago when I first started an rp my bad for being young...though seems istan has become the way he described me...but he's wrong there I did alot I helped create templates and all...its old a year old doesn't matter anymore
