Title: Star Trek Plot
Description: Stick to what people know or not?

A friend is planning a new Star Trek RP. He wanted to do something different and asked me to work up a plot for him. I decided on an entirely new setting in another galaxy with a new and original ship and crew (No canons from the series). I wanted to try and remain loyal to the original missions and mandates of the Federation Starfleet (exploration, defence and diplomacy) but allow for members to express their creativity but helping to shape the setting. Thus, new star systems, civilizations, technologies and anything one could imagine is possible without the constraints imposed by the Star Trek franchise.

This is the first draft of the plot. I would appreciate constructive criticism and comments.

The Story So Far...

On Stardate 102438.35 (2425 AD) a science vessel of the United Federation of Planets discovered an unusual and exciting phenomena: A stable intergalactic portal. Initial explorations determined that the portal exited in a distant galaxy GS-10952, renamed the Angel Galaxy.

A new era of scientific advancement and exploration began. The Federation quickly established a colony and starbase in the uninhabited star system which was the exit of the Portal in this new galaxy. They named the system Haven. Many new alien races were discovered and some even joined the Federation, but along with new friends, came also new enemies.

Stardate: 122161.64 (2445 AD)

The Aldis Rae were a semi-nomadic warrior race that inhabited a region of galaxy called the Fringe. For millenia their domination of the Angel Galaxy was unchallenged. They raided, pillaged and ruled with an iron fist. The first battle between Federation and Aldis Rae forces was unavoidable and inevitable. The USS Redemption, a diplomatic vessel, under Captain Sarah Hawkins was on a mission in the Melkor system conducting negotiations with the Melkorians for trade rights. An Aldis Rae raiding fleet appeared and began to attack the Melkor orbital stations and outer colonies. Captain Hawkins engaged the Aldis Rae fleet even though they outnumbered her by more than ten to one. At first, the Aldis Rae starships engaged the Redemption in single combat, but when it quickly became clear that Redemption's weapons and technology was far superior to the Aldis Rae Light Attack Craft, dubbed Raptors, they swarmed in for the attack. Due to the skill of the officers and crew of the USS Redemption, and at great loss of life among their crew and the brave Melkor defence forces, the attack was beaten back and the raiders withdrew to edges of the system. When word of the battle reached Earth and Starfleet Command, a hastily assembled Federation Task Force made its way through the Portal to the Angel Galaxy. The Aldis Rae responded to their defeat by reinforcing the initial raiding party with a force numbering over a thousand ships. Long range sensors indicated that more than triple that amount was on its way. The Federation had no interest in an all out war and diplomatic overtures were made suggesting a ceasefire to discuss a truce. Although they were clearly unhappy with the Federation presence in the Angel Galaxy, the obviously superior technology of the Federation led to a truce being signed.

Under the conditions of the Truce of Melkor, the Federation would not stray or attempt to expand into the regions of the Angel Galaxy claimed by the Aldis Rae (the Fringe and several sectors and civilizations under the domination of the Aldis Rae). Likewise, the Aldis Rae would not expand into regions claimed by the Federation. All other territories would be considered neutral ground and the Truce would have no effect other than to forbid combat between the star forces of the two factions.

It was immediately after this agreement that Starfleet established the Angel Fleet as a permanent Starfleet presence in the Angel Galaxy. The USS Akatsuki Tenshi was assigned to this fleet as its flagship.

Members would take the role of crew and civilians aboard the flagship of the Angel Fleet as she carries out her mission to expand the Federation's borders, knowledge and influence and to protect the new frontier in this new galaxy.

OMG, this sounds amazing XD. I was busy with making a star trek RPG too on the rpg-directory-home website, but this sounds amazing. I think it sounds very true to original canon Star Trek, and it defiantly sounds believable *nods*.

I'm a big Star Trek fan, so I'm really interested in this RPG and would love to help it get off the ground, because we really need a good Star Trek RPG around this place.I don't really have anything to say on the plot, it sounds very good, and it could defiantly be expanded on. I think it would also be a good idea to keep the RPG very open to the players ideas on how to develope the story. Members could think up missions, encounters etc.

I also agree that plot has a very Star Trekky feel.

I haven't ever been on a Star Trek board or ever really thought about it before now I guess, but rping out as members of the ship would definately be interesting and something worth considering joining. :)

OnlyHappyWhenItRains and ShinLi:

Thank you for your votes and comments. Ash (the Admin for who I thought up this plot) liked it too and has moved forward enthusiastically by constructing the board. Although a roleplayer and Star Trek Fan, Ash has never before made an RP or even been involved in running one, so I'm sure he'll appreciate any help, advice and assistance in getting his RP off the ground.

ShinLi, I'll PM you the link and you can take a look at what he has done so far.
