I was wondering if there is an option to change your account name here and if so how? Because I don't want to violate the rules by signing up under a new name.

The reason for my name change might be obvious >.< But at the time I signed up I only was running one board. Now I have started on a second one and well my name here has become less appropriate. So if possible I'd like to have my name changed.

You cannot change your name yourself, or your display name. The only way your name can be changed if it's done by us, the admins. You can pm me with what name you want to have and I can change it for you, but this will also be your new login name, together with your old password.
