The Angela MacGrady School for the Arts (AMSA) and the Nicholas Mueller Riding Academy (NMRA) are both located in the small town of Everett, New York. In fact, the two schools are the only thing in Everett. The town is located an hour from New York City, on the New York/New Jersey border. You could say it’s the middle of nowhere. Angela MacGrady and Nicholas Muller were married in 1945, both of them a tender 18 years of age. Both having grown up in the farming town of Everett, they were high school sweethearts. Angela pursued a career in the music industry while Nicholas followed a dream of riding on the United States Olympic Equestrian Team. Nicholas made it, Angela did not. As a result, Angela resented her husband, thus rocking their already shaky marriage. In 1952, Angela and Nicholas divorced. Angela returned to her home in Everett and founded AMSA, which officially opened its doors in 1955. Nicholas was still working on his riding career. It was only when he returned to Everett in 1965, at the age of 38 that he found his ex wife running a prestigious arts boarding school. Enraged, Nicholas bought the land in Everett not belonging to AMSA and founded NMRA, which opened in 1966. The only people who live in Everett, New York are the students and staff of the two rivaling schools. The two properties meet at Everett Park. Everett Park is the center of hostility between the two schools. The hatred between Angela and Nicholas is carried on through stories at both schools, sparking a rivalry that has spanned the years. Welcome to the year 2007. The rivalry is alive and well, as are the two who sparked it. Nicholas and Angela are 80 this year, and their grandchildren are students at their respective academies. You know parents thrust their dreams on their kids—but what about grandparents? The students all have one thing in common: they're chasing something. NMRA students want that blue ribbon, that Grand Champion ribbon. They want on the Olympic team. AMSA want to hit the high note, write one great song, or create their masterpiece. Welcome to Everett, New York, where we're walking on [BROKEN] glass. |

![]() ‘…the key to what lies within is concealed in the depths of the soul…’ Prologue: The power of the sun and the moon, the destined lovers that could never be, collided in one powerful attack as Artemis’s sword blew Apollo’s blade to pieces. Words of silence sprung out of Apollo’s mouth, as he fell to his knees in defeat. Artemis nodded, a prideful and confident aura replacing the fearful one, which she had gained through the endless battle and had only gotten rid of a moment ago. Phenomenal singing resounded through the heavens, as Artemis ascended to the silver throne, which now glistened with the moon’s surreal spark. As she sat down with obvious lady-like elegance, a crown made with the purest of silver and engraved with diamonds appeared out of nowhere, halting in mid-air. It carefully placed itself upon Artemis’s head, as the cheering of the enormous crowd of people surrounding their new queen echoed throughout the grave battlefield, which was now in rubble. Artemis nodded towards the heavily armed guards standing by the back of the crowd, as the crowd cleared a passage so that the guards could make it through. As the guards approached, Artemis spoke in a superior manner, issuing a straightforward command, though only silence managed to escape her lips. The guards turned away, in a robot-like motion, and advanced towards Apollo, who was still kneeling with an ashamed expression wiped upon his face. As the guards locked his hands by an invisible force around his back, Artemis pointed one, bony finger at Apollo, saying: “I banish thee by my own flesh and blood from the Realms of the Gods!” As she said this, he began to disappear, molecule-by-molecule, atom-by-atom. Where was he banished? Apollo, the god of sun and music, was banished to none other but the world of the living… he was forced to roam Earth for millions of years as his desire for revenge bottled up inside of him, awaiting the day to be released to reek havoc upon the three worlds. Apollo was descended upon Earth, his hatred for his sister sprouting out of the darkness. Several hundred years later, all of the male Olympians were banished to Earth, for Artemis was afraid that her fellow female Olympians would loose their virginity by falling in love with a male god. Therefore, Artemis, the almighty ruler of the Realms of the Gods, said that her fellow comrades could never leave the royal palace nor visit the land of the living, Earth, because she knew that if one of her fellow comrades had lost their virginity she would have to turn them into an animal or even worse – kill them. Soon, two alliances formed, one being the Goddess Alliance, which consisted of Artemis, Aphrodite, Athena, Demeter, Hera, and Hestia, and the other being the God Alliance, which consisted of Apollo, Ares, Hephaestus, Hermes, Poseidon, and Zeus. The Goddess Alliance was led by Artemis and was located in the depths of The Realm of Gods, while; on the other hand, the God Alliance was led by Apollo and was located in the world of the living, Earth. Both Alliances were enemies till the death, and had numerous battles throughout history. However, there was only some time before the members of the Goddess Alliance began falling in love with the members of the God Alliance, or the other way around. But, neither Apollo nor Artemis approved of this, and they soon found each other killing members of their own Alliance because those individuals broke the laws of being in that Alliance. Soon, the only two godly beings living were Artemis and Apollo. Secretly, they had fallen in love, too. It was decided that Artemis and Apollo would have a battle to see who would be the new leader of the human race. Even though they loved each other deeply and it hurt them deep inside to inflict wounds on each other, they still slowly but painfully killed each other with an emotionless exterior. Their battle lasted a long time, spanning over several decades. Most believe that their battle was never won or lost by anyone, since when the war between the two godly beings was concluded; they both were practically wiped out. However, they still had enough energy to clasp both of their hands together, intertwining their fingers and casting a spell. “By thee will and by thy heart I set the souls of my fellow godly beings free to wander the Earth. I send my soul to the depths of Hell,” They both said in unison, as the last energy that was contained in their bodies disappeared. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- September 12th, 2013 Ceres joyfully munched on a handful of popcorn as she skipped through the channels that were broadcasted via television. Finding nothing to her liking, she settled on the news channel, waiting for something exciting to be announced. To her disappointment, the news broadcasted nothing but recent crimes and rape victims. Nothing to her fondness, at least, since Ceres enjoyed reading fantasy novels more than watching boring, regular news. Deep inside, she wished for something so surreal to happen that it seemed to be nothing more than a dream. As she ran out of popcorn, she stood up from the luxurious, red couch and walked into the kitchen, grabbing a few more handfuls of popcorn and throwing them inside an enormous, blue bowl. Frrttt. Ceres turned around, her heart pounding, as she heard more bizarre noises, which could now be identified as the fluttering of wings. Tiptoeing out of the kitchen with unbreakable silence, she looked around the room but could not find anything that seemed to be one bit suspicious. Then, a gasp escaped her lips, as the bowl of popcorn fell to the floor with a loud clang. Clasping her hands over her mouth, she felt a tingling feeling as something fluttered into her body; taking residence in the middle of her chest. She could feel her heart beating with a new, supernatural power, though for know she did not know what it meant. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- What Ceres Flores had seen on that night was a silver key with wispy, transparent, light-blue wings, which fluttered softly with the breeze. Moments later the key had entered Ceres’s body system, sharing a bit of the supernatural power that the goddess Athena had possessed before Artemis had killed her. The key was a piece of Athena’s soul. There were hundreds of keys that fluttered through the air the next evening for each goddess and god, which entered someone’s body when they thought that the human was a good candidate for the supernatural powers that resided in the key. Immediately, the human possessing the key was able to the things they could never do before. Supernatural things. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- This was the eerie effect from the spell that Artemis and Apollo had cast before they had withered away. However, the result that they were hoping for was way different from what actually happened. Instead of letting the souls be reborn on Earth in one piece, each soul of each god or goddess was split into many pieces, each taking the form of a different-looking key. The key possessed wings and would fly throughout the lands until it found a human that was worthy enough for the supernatural power that was contained within the key itself. Though most candidates died because of the shock from their suddenly enhanced senses and the supernatural power that they now possessed, Ceres Flores, the first candidate for godly powers, survived through it all and lived to open up her own academy. The academy was not a regular one, however, it was one specifically made for key-gods and key-goddesses that were still in training. However, to everyone else, it looked like a regular academy. To get in, you had to get tested. The students who tested to get into the private academy had to go through bizarre testing, though in the end they did not mention any of it to their parents. But, they didn’t know that the so-called “bizarre” test's goal was to actually see if the individual that was tested was either a candidate to be a key-god or a key-goddess or if they already possessed a key. After all, some keys entered a human’s body system when the human was asleep, so the human didn’t know about the supernatural power that was contained within their body. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- September 9th, 2079 A new school year is starting. Ceres Flores has now passed away, being an elderly woman of seventy-nine. Her great-granddaughter, Audrey Flores, has been assigned headmistress of Clef D'âme Academy. She too possesses a key that contains the power of the goddess Athena. Everything seems to be flowing smoothly, that is, until the past starts being reawakened. What most don’t notice is that with the key comes not only supernatural power but also memories and the emotions that are contained within it. When young girls and boys get to see these memories and experience them as if they were there, they feel the emotions their god or goddess felt at the time. When these emotions are awakened, so is the battle between the two alliances… It really seems history is repeating itself. Love between the key-gods and key-goddesses is forbidden, and if one is found possessing these feelings they will be punished in the appropriate way. The two alliances have been reawakened and formed once more, and the key-gods and key-goddesses are once again fighting the endless battle that was never actually concluded. But, the problem is that the key-gods and key-goddesses can’t stop their feelings of love from sprouting. Will they be caught, and be punished, just like the real gods and goddesses had been? Will the war between the two alliances be finally concluded or will it continue through the generations and never stop? And if the battle continues, who will win? “Nobody can answer those questions, because I don’t have the –“ __keytomysoul |
