Title: St. Mungo's Focus
Lenore - May 10, 2007 03:10 PM (GMT)
In Harry Potter RPG, I just love to create Healer characters, or characters that have had 'magical' medical training. I'm not a huge fan of normal hospital drama either [well, if you don't include me watching Casualty obsessively when I was younger]
Well, I have also seen a rise in Hospital/Asylum/Health related RPG boards out there recently and, seeing as I have this love for Harry Potter, I had this idea -
That St. Mungo's should have an RPG all of it's own. Imagine the possibilities of medicine when it comes to magic! A board that focus's on St. Mungo's, it's workers, and it's patients. I know there isn’t that much information on magical medicine, but getting creative would be great! =)
I was just wondering what everyone though. Especially people who have RPed quite a lot of hospital RPG.
thanks

Ooh. I used to have a Healer character on my first HP board, but I never really got to do anything with him because no one else was into the whole let's be creative thing.
But hmm. I don't really care for hospital shows either, so hospital rpgs have never interested me either, but this would be a nice twist that I might consider joining. :)

hmm having a St. Mungo's centered rpg sounds really interesting. There is a lot of possibilities for things to happen since it is a magical hospital. A lot of stranger diseases and stuff too. I am not really into hospital rpgs because I cannot stand hospitals in real life but a magical one is a tad different.
You would have to create a lot of the magical medicine and stuff yourself though. Many people are too lazy to do it.

Hhm, indeed. I find that if you create a Healer and centre them around the whole hospital experience too much, then you aren’t able to connect them with other characters much. Though, mostly every HP board does have a section for Mungo's, it's never detailed. Annnd, because of the not being a fan of normal hospital drama, it wouldn't make much difference because magic would be different indeed =)
Indeed....diseases, epidemics...pandemic's...stronger versions of Muggle virus’s etc. Even patients being rushed in with Werewolf and Vampires bites, which would be interesting to RP out.
Weeellll...I have a Latin dictionary, so spells wouldn't be a problem to create. And, I have a botanicals book, and other such, really old books I can use to create a 'directory' of created magical medicine, along with the already known thingies.
Thank you both for your input, it was really helpful =) <3

Yeah, I think this idea sounds really interesting too. I hate RL hospitals, and am not a big fan of them o Tv ((Although I love the Royale and will sometimes watch other hospital programmes.)) I would also consider joining this, unique things are always good :D
One question, concidering patients are not permanent members of the hospital, how would you fit them in? Because I'm sure people would love to play patients.. But after they were treated, what would happen? Would they just go poof?

The Royale is great! ^___^
Aha! I thought someone would bring that up.
Well, if a patient were to be RPed and cured, they would have the opportunity to become a general witch or wizard, or the owner of a shop. There will probably be a psych section of the hospital I add, so there will be an opportunity to RP permanent patients who have been sectioned etc.

Haha, shotgun Amea in the psych ward. XD
You know I like the idea, anyway.. I'm a huge fan of hospital based shows. Scrubs, House & Greys... my three faves at the moment, top four includes Boston Legal.
You'd probably need an adjacent town to house said cured patients. And a jumping castle with jelly wrestling.
(I'dno.. those last two just manage to end up on every suggestion sheet I've ever seen..)

Amea = (suprised) hehehe
Yeah...I'll include a little place for shops and homes and such, and maybe that bouncy castle ;) with blue jelly....dark blue jelly is so pretty.
Alos, maybe Azkaban. Not sure on that though yet

I think it sounds like it could be a very interesting idea. I would love to see someone on there that is like a Wizard/Witch version of a Hypochondriac. Like they keep showing up as a patiant but as little else. Always thinking they have wild frog toe....or you know something weird and magical.
Might be something I would like to play actually....
