The following article explains the current setting in which the HI forums roleplaying scenarios are taking place. It explains the "bigger picture" of everything in order to allow members to appropriately tweak their threads to reflect the current situation and the history of the school.
September 1, 2072
It has been seventy-five years since the fateful battle that ended the Second War against the terrifying Lord Voldemort. After that horrifying war, in which so much life was needlessly lost, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was closed by the Ministry of Magic. Perhaps it was that the spirits of those who lost their lives still lingered there, or just the memories of the terrible events that plagued the castle for seven long years, but parents were reluctant to send their children to the school, and it was impossible to find enough staff members. The school was abandoned and the castle fell into ruins.
But the wizarding world went on. The masses recovered, and the planet rebuilt itself, picking up the pieces that Lord Voldemort's terror has strewn across the globe. Students in the Hogwarts area were either home-schooled or sent to other wizarding schools, if they were lucky.
Outside the educational field, however, a gap was developing once more in the community, and this time it wasn't the purebloods to blame. After any period of great suffering comes a period of great grief. And after grief, comes anger. Years after Voldemort's terror, muggle-born wizards and witches around the world began to get angry. And as Voldemort and his followers were destroyed, they had no one left to take out their anger upon except for the purebloods.
Time passed as this rift grew, and several decades after the downfall of Lord Voldemort, the community's need for educational arenas was so great that the Ministry of Magic had no choice but to do something about it. Luckily, at about the same time, a wealthy half-blood couple by the name of Von Dutches were looking to donate their time, money and energy into the reestablishment of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. After an enormous amount of funding, and an even greater amount of arguments with the Ministry of Magic, Hogwarts was finally reopened.
As we enter the setting in which HI takes place, it has been seven decades since the downfall of Voldemort and the end of the Second War, and fifteen years since Hogwarts was reopened. It is currently on its' second Headmistress, Beatrix Naberrie, who succeeded Eric Vitao last year. While there have been no major displays of muggle-borns versus purebloods yet, as there have been in the magical world at large, it is only a matter of time before this cultural rebellion infiltrates the magical walls of Hogwarts…
