Title: Popularity?
sakura-blossom - April 27, 2007 04:00 PM (GMT)
How popular is RPG in your area? Or country?
I ask because I am entering my forum into an ICT competition in my area. It really shocked my that barely any of the judges or the other kids entering had heard of RPGing. It's clearly not really popular in my neck of the woods.
How about you?

May I ask what ICT is? I've never heard of regional forum competitions...

Hmm I’m confused as to what you are asking and isn’t ICT Internet Computing Technology or something like that.

People around my region takes 'RPGing' as just, role-playing-game, like WoW or GW. But no one has never heard of writing roleplay.

I have two friends that I introduced to the art that is forum role-playing, but other than them, I don't know of anyone who is into it.

I dont even think Memphis, TN knows that roleplaying even is in this world.lol. I told one of my friends and she was like "So we have to write little paragraphs?" One of my friends will join some sites, just because she thinks it's cool.

Hey, Memphis does to! Well, sorta...
I've gotten a few of my friends into it, and some of my other fellow nerd friends RP, though it's not a whole bunch of them. More than I thought, though. I still get funny looks from people when I mention RPing, kinda like, "And you do this why?" (happy)

People from my area DEFINATELY do not know about roleplaying, or have the slightest interest in it.
I doubt people even read here.
Case in point - last three towns I lived in lacked even a single bookstore. I currently live in a college town with about 20,000 people and I got all excited because for the first time in my life I thought I wouldn't have to drive an hour away for a freaking book - NOPE. Not the case yet again.
So asking people to write? For fun?
Hahahahahahaha.
In fact, I have never met another roleplayer from the entire state of Michigan. Not saying they don't exist, it just hasn't happened in my five years of roleplaying.

hmmmm...you know I don't know if many people do the rpg thing here where I live. I'm guessing the kiddies do Gaia online, not the forum stuff. I could be wrong however.
skippymoo - April 28, 2007 06:35 AM (GMT)
Me: "Do you like to write?"
Person: "Nope"
Me: "Aww..." *goes to ask another person* *gets the same answer*
As you can see, it is the same here. It is worse because I'm down under, while heaps of the people I roleplay with are... up over. Stupid timezones.
I made two of my friends join a site I was on, and then proceeded to help them write out thier character applications. We came up with a rather... interesting... plot. Heh, but then they kinda gave up and I was like, "Aww, no! Come back!!"

It isn't very popular in my area ... or, at least no one's ever talked about it in person with me. I found it by chance as I was surfing the internet looking at Harry Potter stuff and found a board. Maybe I'm just oblivious ...

Theres only one other kid in the town I live in who is in to text based role playing. Everyone else has either never heard of it, or immediately assumes something like Might and Magic, Neverwinter Nights, Oblivion/Morrowind, or WOW.
I'm think about putting posters up around my school to see if any of my class mates do it (my school as almost 2000 kids in it).

I do not know many people in my area that do this kind of RPing. There are those that play D&D and stuff like WoW, but whenever I talk to people about my boards they are confused.
I have managed to talk a few of my friends into joining sites. But i really like to make new friends around the world that enjoy the same Rping that I do.
