;; Our life has been a difficult one. Filled with struggle and blood and everything in between. Should you wish to gain the knowledge of our past experiences, simply listen closely as I spin the tale. ;; The elves were, as it was thought by the dwarves, brought to the land by Gūntera, in order to rule the world and for the elves to do his bidding. We elves do not hold a religion, and so we are not particularly familiar with the dwarves' customs. I will tell you know more of this absurdity. ;; After we elves were 'created', we ruled the land with our fierce beauty and superiority over all other races. When others were not awed by our appearances and attempted to harm us, we always prevailed. Fools continued onward in vain attempts to relinquish us from the land - all to no avail. ;; Long ago, when we first spied dragons in our land, they were thought of as illiterate monsters - unintelligent savages. Our king sent a band of elves to rid our land of them. They found the group of dragons deep in slumber, and showed no mercy. Every dragon and egg was slaughtered there, a day we now look upon with shame. The elves returned, boasting of their macabre murders, and they all slept easily that night. On the open ground. They had slaughtered the group of dragons; but many more remained. When they returned to find their brethren killed, they immediately sought revenge. The dragons came to the elves' abode, and slaughtered hundreds. Thus, the war between dragons and elves began. ;; For years the attacks between the two races flourished, growing ever more violent over time. It seemed as though they would murder their entire races together, what with all the havoc they had reigned upon the world. ;; One day, a small elven girl named Adrasteai found an abandoned dragon egg, and was excited to realize that the dragon inside was not crushed, but alive. Being young as she was, she kept the egg to herself, hiding it from all of the elves. She hid it in the lush forest nearby her house when it emerged from the egg and began to grow. When atlast her dragon, christened Amanatiya, was fully grown, and the two had successfully flown together, Adrasteai revealed their friendship. ;; At first the elven people rebelled at the thought of Adrasteai befriending a monster, and shunned her from the land. Amanatiya and Adrasteai then flew to the realm of the dragons, and, together, arranged for a treaty with the dragons and elves. The dragons reluctantly agreed to the idea of peace, but on one condition; the elves would never again treat them as monsters, but as the intelligent beings they were; and elves and dragons would share their land in equality, as alliances. ;; Dragon and rider flew back to the elves, and proposed the alliance. The King was unsure of agreeing, but finally did so, agreeing to all conditions. And so, the two were in peace. ;; And it has been such for hundreds of years, but the tides are changing. Elves who despise the dragons - though they are few and heavily exiled when caught - have been committing foul and violent crimes against their foes. The dragons have become ruffled, and fled to their main lands, leaving us without easy communication to the outside world. ;; We refuse to leave our realm in order to send messages to our brethren on the other side of the earth, as it could reveal our land to unwelcome outsiders. The dilemma is clear. Our finest magicians are not with us at the time, except for a sparse few and myself, and so our food supplies are growing weak, and new houses are yet to be built. Our realm is falling into chaos. ;; What is more, our King has recently passed away... Our race is falling into monarchy - a new receiver to the title must be found, and, hopefully, our alliance with the dragons renewed. ;; Or we shall all perish. ;; |

| What if your dreams defined realities? -Darius, The First Original It all began with a simple dream. A very simple dream, a dream of a city, a city that looked very much like the place where this particular story takes place in. It was a city that was held in an eternal night, and when Darius first went to sleep and dreamed this, he thought nothing of it. The next morning, he woke up, with very little memory of hat very boring dream, and went off to school. He went through his life like normal that day, to come home and go to sleep, and to dream once more of the city. This time, however, he did not wake up. Darius, a young boy of twelve was put into the Oakland city hospial the next day, in a coma. All of his vital signs were fine, he would just not open his eyes. All he would do was lay there, and sleep. And dream. It was first discovered by Vayne. He went to sleep, and dreamed the same dream that Darius had. He dreamed of a city. His dream lasted longer though, for day it seemed, even though he still woke up the next morning. In this dream, he was hunted by priests, by religion, by wild things he didn't know his own imagination had. He was nearly killed, beaten bloody. He woke up bloody. He woke up nearly dead. Those were the motions that set it into place. Since then, he has met Darius, in both the real world, where Darius is still in a coma, and in the Dream World, which was named "Obsidia". It was all explained to Vayne there, what had happened, and at first, even if he thought it was crazy, he accepted it. What he had dreamt was real. He had dreamt himself into a real world, where very real things could happen to him. And that is how it all began. Darius called himself an Original, and from there, Vayne named himself a Dreamer. Five other Original's were discovered, people within the real world that where in coma's, but who apparently had made a whole dream world of their own come into true existance. How it happened, no one could explain. More Dreamer's began to appear in the world, each one young and frightened at first, but eventually getting used to it, and enjoying it. It was a world where magic could reign. Where they had power. Worlds that only they could access by falling asleep. In these worlds, they were special. Each, for whatever reason, was given a number. And with that number, came their power. And time flows on. |
