Title: 1920's Role Play?
Description: interested?

Lea - April 8, 2007 10:52 PM (GMT)
As of recently, I've been completely obsessed with the popular culture of the 1920's. aka the Golden Age, the Jazz Age, the Roaring Twenties. Anyhow, you catch my drift. Since my colorguard season is winding down and I was thinking of trying my hand at another rp, I wanted to know what people though about an RP based in the 1920's.

Are there enough people interested in the time period? Of course, it wouldn't be HISTORICAL. It would be more based around the popular culture of the century. The musicians, flappers, authors, etc.

It was a glamorous time period of prohibition, jazz, and speakeasy's (bars).

Any thoughts?

And are there enough people that know enough about the century that they would want to RP it? >.<

Ooh, I would be totally interested. I just did a semester project over the Roaring Twenties, so while my knowledge may make me a minority, I'm sure if you had some general info, people could play with relative accuracy.

& yay for Mika Nakashima sigs. <3

hee hee.

'kay then. I mean, there's not THAT much to it. And it wouldn't have to be completely historically correct, considering it's role play. That's good to know that at least ONE person is interested. ^^

jpop = love. <3

I'd definatly play at it...given i havve the time after and if I take on another admin-gig. But yey, the Era of Good Feelings...good times, good times... If they only knew the depression was on the horizon.......

but anyway. PM me some info when and if you decide to start it and I'll definitely think about joining.

absolutely. ^^

Interesting concept! Would this take place in the US/North America, or Europe? ...or both?

As I've always understood it, the '20s were two very different experiences in these places. Good times and big money in the west, but political/social instability and uncertainty in the "Old World", where one age was ending but the popular psyche was so shattered by WWI that democracy had to fight an ultimately losing battle to replace the old monarchies and whatnot.

I don't know, I'm just rambling. It sounds like you want to go for a very positive and optimistic atmosphere; including the 'dark side' of the '20s might just make it depressing. LOL

I'm guessing I'd most likely set it in an American City, since it would be somewhat complicated.. to have the RP span over different countries and states. Somewhere on the East Coast of course, maybe Harlem, though I haven't decided yet.

Well, it seems that there is some interest, so in the next few weeks, watch out for me. ^^ I'll be gone for a little while, since I'm on guard, and we're going to Nationals. Which is in Ohio. (I live on West Coast, so it's pretty far)

YAY. =]

any other input?

I think it defiantly would make a very interesting RPG really. When I join an RPG that needs some more knowledge, I mostly just read up on it. Search on Wikipedia and Google. So it might be a good idea to have a thread on such a board with some info, and if you want some links to even more info which people can read up on if they are interested.

But yeh, it would be a fun rpg I think. It's defiantly something different then what you'd usually see ^^.

Yeah, I was thinking that. Or maybe taking bits of the research paper I wrote about it and condensing it a bit so there are a bunch of small, easy to read sections. Then I can provide links for people that want to know more?

I'm really happy that people like this idea, because i really enjoy the time period. =]

I've just made a new pinned topic in the Mananging Your RPG board, with links to sites who can be helpfull, there are also a few sites with info of the 20's, so that might be helpful for your RPG. thought I'd let you know ^^.

thank you.

I'll definitely keep those in mind, though I might not be able to work on this project for another couple weeks. After my guard season winds down a little, and everthing calms down. >.<

thanks for the input.

I like the sound of it. My mom is a big fan of the 20's and I know a bit about it. I would love to RP on this board. Is it up?

heavenne - May 4, 2007 12:00 AM (GMT)
I'm not that knowledgable in the 20's...but I'm sure if I can just read up on a bit I might join :) I love anything to do with history.

pretty as a [CAR] crash;;& - May 4, 2007 12:04 AM (GMT)
This would be very fun; I'd totally join. I would need to read up on it though.

That's different, and interesting. I'd actually look into that. I like how the twenties are portrayed in shows.

Also, j-pop is love *is listening to it now*
