Title: Repetition Of Songs
arcade124 - April 4, 2007 09:25 PM (GMT)
I listen to the local pop station, and I keep hearing the same songs over and over again.
"Lips of an angel"
"Move Along"
"Fergalicious"
"I Write Wins not Tragedies."
And then, the cycle repeats. I'm tired of these songs being drilled in my head. Is this what it is like where you live?

That's how it is with all radio stations that play current hits, because those are the songs that get the most requests and are the most popular (obviously).
I don't mind that much though, because I like all the songs that are currently playing. Though I wish they kept playing "Lips of an Angel"... It's not as popular in Houston anymore, and I miss it. But we have "It's Not Over" by Chris Daughtry, so it's okay. :]

Oh I remember when I was in secandary school and Kylie's song 'Can't get you out of my head,' came out.
During my 1 hour art class everyday we heard it at least 10 times a lesson on the radio.
Geez that was ages ago...about 7 years ago...WOW

I agree about the repetition, but I also like the songs anyway, so I don't mind. Some songs my local station usually play are:
Streetcorner Symphony
Put Your Records On
Keep Holding On (and other Avril Lavigne songs that weren't popular a week ago; they were probably getting requests because of her new album release.)
Hurt
etc.
Personally, I don't mind the first three songs, but I'm kinda getting sick of Christina Aguilera. Ick. (x.x)

This is precisely why I went to XM.

I hate hate hate the radio. The same songs over and over again make me want to punch it in the face.
That's why I have Napster. It's my baby. *pets it*

Okay, I agree, Lips of an Angel is a god song.
XM radio huh? Lucky you. I want one ;.;
And thank goodness for iPods. My only other music source.

Ugh, I don't like that song at all. To me, it just says, "Hey baby, I'm sleeping with some other girl but I wish it was you." What's romantic about being the Other Woman?
Bad songs aside, I absolutely adore the radio. It helps that I've got eight stations programmed in and a nice little remote for easy station switching. My area is lucky enough to have this awesome rock station that plays everything from Johnny Cash to Three Days Grace, plus on Mondays they play Metallica every hour on the hour. It's a great way for me to hear new songs. My Top 40 station is my least listened to cuz, as the name implies, it just repeats the top 40 songs on the charts, though, again, if a new song comes out, I get to hear it.
Plus, the radio is always full of surprises. It's one thing to turn on your MP3 player and switch to your favorite song, but to just be driving along and all of a sudden "867-5309" or "Lump" starts playing and you're so suprised and glad and you get to belt it out and not care that your windows are down--that's pure happiness.
Yahoo! Launchcast radio is also great, cuz it's free and with song and genre rating, almost every song they for me play is good.

Nope.
At least not to the radio station I listen to. Actually I can't stand repeating songs on a radio station. Or at least that you get the feeling that you heard the song at least three times before. And if they do repeat songs in various radio shows, the do the good songs. Because they always have a song on a weekly basis who gets played more then other songs.
Further I listen a lot to my own music in iTunes. But I love to wake up with the radio tuned on my favourite radio station. I basically only listen to two, my favourite and our local radtio station.

I only listen to my Classic Rock radio station. x_x; and it's digital, without DJs soo.. it's very boring. But it has variety in it.
So does the Hottest Hits radio. Though, I'm definitely getting annoyed that all they play seemed to be Fall out Boy and Panic! At the Disco. -_-
They should play other bands too.

That Hinder song drove me batty. But yeah, more or less the same deal here. Same old music over and over...and over. AKA Akon, Gwen Stefani, Omarion and so forth. gagx2001.

they're playing a lot of paralyzer by finger eleven. Then I remember a few months back they used to play The Pot by Tool about three times a day.
I nearly wanted to smash the radio.
John Delorean - May 2, 2007 07:17 AM (GMT)
Ruby by the Kaiser Chiefs. Radio 1 play that thing to destruction...
anna bananarrrr - November 30, 2007 07:15 PM (GMT)
OH GOODNESS.
In the dining hall of our school, they always used to play R. Kelly during late-night, and JT during dinner time.
Now all they play ALL DAY is Alicia Keys' "No One".
I mean, I love the song, but goodness, they're gonna make me fall out of love with it!
