So I think the new button system is a great idea. However, I have stumbled across many RPGs which are marked green, but there has been no activity on the board since December or very early January. It appears that the Directory Checkers give it a green mark even though the only post in the last few months was an advertisement on the board. So I propose that the ads posted on the board by other members/guests should be discarded when checking for activity.

Edit: For example, check out this board. It has a green button, but the board itself has no posts--save an advertisement from the 4th of March--since January 4th.

Upon reviewing the topic which first announced this system, I noticed that it says that the yellow button will only be given when the board has been innactive for two months. Maybe this should be changed to one month (the others do not have to change, though). If a board is innactive for a month, it is highly unlikely that a new member is going to join and turn the activity around. If for some reason the board becomes active again thanks to the admin, the administrator of the board could PM a directory checker to move the button to green. I hope this all makes sense.

I think Amanda (Horsecrzy721) would be the one to handle this question and I believe she is away for a bit. Thanks for the suggestion, I am sure someone with more authority over this will look into it once they have the time/are back. :)

It makes perfect sense, and we have discussed all these points that you mentioned in the staff room, the result was the checking system as how it's posted now. But the point is, we can't read board owners mind. It might be that somehow after four months of inactivity, the owner him/herself has time again and starts up the board again, and thus activity is back.

In that board you posted, it would fall in the green period button, because at the time the board was reviewed, it would have fallen within the 2 month period of activity. After two months, the yellow button will be put up. So at this moment, the yellow buttons should be added instead of keeping it green. But you must remember there are loads of submissions, they can't be checked every single day. And if you as member see that the status of a board would be wrong, I suggest you simple pm one of the directory checker or Amanda with thel ink to the advertsement so they can immediatly change the status of it.

We have considered the one month period of activity, and after that it would become a yellow button. But that might be unfair. We can't be too strict, otherwise no one would like to advertise here anymore. Desicions always have to be made, and we decided on the two month period.

And for a sidenote, we do not count guest advertisments to the board's activity.
