Title: [S] [S] Plug Boards
Jess - April 18, 2006 12:26 PM (GMT)
I’ve briefly discussed the idea of a plug board with the other two admins on my HP RPG, but nothing has been done about creating one yet. I’m interested in setting one up, and understand how to do that and such—I’m just not sure what rules are generally given for them. I’d just like to come up with something I can pin in the forum to present to the other admins sometime soon, because I’d like to see it set up as soon as possible.
The only rule I’m certain we need is something to state that other Harry Potter RPGs can not be advertised, although we’ll be accepting one (or perhaps two) other HP RPGs of different eras as affiliates once that’s all up and sorted. Besides that, I’m assuming we’d have some sort of word count requirement for a member to post, but have little idea of what is normal beyond that. Could anyone help, or give an example?
Other than that, I’m not sure what would be needed on the form. I have a basic idea (below), but would appreciate something more concrete. Have I added anything unnecessary or missed anything off?

Board Name: Board Genre: Link to your account there: General Activity: Basic Outline: Plot: (If applicable) |
I have a feeling a lot of that might be unneeded and such, so if you have any suggestions please post… I’m terrible with this kind of thing. ;)

I think that's a nice form and will give you all the info you need about the person advertising. For the '
Link to your account there:' you could simple use the 'Username on site' or something along those lines. Only a suggestion ;).
Further, why do you want to have that persons username? Does that mean the person who is advertising has to be admin of that board, or some sort of staff member?
If so, then you could include that in the rules. It's also good if you include some rules into the topic where the form is in as well. To prevent spamming, you could set a post count of maybe 20 posts or higher. Also rules along the lines as, how many times may there be advertised, should they advertise on there board in return, or put a button up?
These are some links of forms I'm using on my rpg boards, the first one is of my died hp rpg :P,

It did help thanks. :) I think the 'Username of Account' would work better, yes, and I was thinking that they'd either have to be an admin, or just anyone in a staff position-- admin or global mod, really. For the rules, how about something along the lines of:
| QUOTE |
- Do not advertise a site if the old advertisement is still up and visible. If your board has undergone major changes, PM a moderator or admin to get your old topic deleted and then a new one can be posted.
- You must have at least 50 posts to advertise here.
- You must be in a staff position (administrator or global moderator) of the site you are advertising.
- You may not advertise a Harry Potter RPG, although we will be accepting one or two HP RPGs as affiliates.
- Members may post in advertisement topics, but blatant spam will be deleted along with rude comments.

Then, for the form…

Thanks, again, for all the help. ^_^

And what if members just want to show like helpfull sites if they found them? Is that allowed? *just giving a hint here*, because that sometimes can happen :P. Like they found some sort of cool HP quiz and they wanna post it in that board.

That's a good point... most things like that would probably just be in Off Topic though, so members would see it easier and such, I guess. That could probably be mentioned, though, because it's definitely a good idea. I think I’ll go and write up something proper that can be posted, and then I’ll post to see what the other admins think. ^_^ Thanks! (Suggestions are still welcome and such, if you have any… :P.)

Your topic has been solved and moved to the 'Solved Support Topics' forum! Still have a question, or something isn't clear yet? PM an admin, gmod or cmod, and it will be moved back to the Support Center.
