I've done nearly everything possible to get members and my forum is still pretty inactive. I've advertised a ton and I've read the threads here that help with getting members, but nothing is working. I just want about five active people to start. Right now, it's just me and one other person. (unhappy)

Well maybe you could try and get your friends into rping and get lots of your friends to join. It will help and make your site more active plus they may get their friends to join and so on. Another common one it make more characters yourself to rp as then that way people will think the site is more active and are more likly to join it dosn't always work though. If you have a plot you might want to try typing it out again or changing it a bit. If you don't have a plot its very advisable to type one up though most sites do. I know you have said you have been advertising but what about joining a topsite? or registering for rpg directorys like this one.

Make sure that your plot is inclusive. If it only involves a couple of people, there's a chance you will not get as much traffic onto your board.

I also second Eeyore's suggestion: RP with yourself. It definitely makes the board look more active. Try to fill up all of the empty forums which haven't been posted in yet, and don't let them go too long between posts. (If it's February, it's not going to look good if the last time people posted in most of the forums on the board was in December.)

Yea, post activity is what I look for first when I go to a new board.

Also chat box's are something I look at if the site has one like the date of when the last person posted something in it. So you may want to register for a chat box but only if your members will post in it lots as it can be a point towards making the site alot more active.

I hope your site becomes more active soon my friend I have also found it hard to get new members for our site but they are coming and the site has remained active. If you give me the link to your site I could maybe suggest more things and if its my thing I may join (happy)

First thing I have noticed about your site is it looks really active and that the layout is nice. One thing some people have differen't sized monitors and the side bar makes their screen look weird. I'm not saying this is me and I'm against side bars thats just what some people say and I thought you might want to know. It looks good but I don't know about joining right now I'm trying to improve my rping by concentrating on advanced rp's.
