Title: How Do You Stop

Okay, well I just had a site almost completely copy my site. This person is a member on here, but they shall remain nameless. How do I stop people from ripping?

I've had a few people rip of my ideas.. and my boards (rules, layout, stuff like that). Unfortunately, you can't really do anything to stop them. Maybe tell the admins here about the situation and see if anyone else has had the same problem? :/

Oh, when I had the feeling someone ripped my ideas and stuff, I PMed the admins about it, but I was sure to track the message to see whenever they read it. If they read it, but didn't respond within 2-3 days, I PMed them again, and then... hopefully something constructive will happen.

<- total expert in this area.

I swear, someone rips I&E every other day. There's not a whole lot you really can do. The first thing is to take it to the admin of the other site. Let them know you're aware that they're ripping and that they don't have permission to use any of your original ideas etc etc.

Then if that doesnt work, take it to InvisionFree. report the original content of yours they have stolen and hope that it goes through. It's likely the admin will remove the content when presented with the idea of being reported.

and be sure to take screenshots. ltos and lots of screenshots comparing your site to theirs. solid proof to offer the admin and the IF people if necessary.

If someone has blatantly ripped something of your site plese do take screen shots, talk to them, and please inform ShinLi, Andy, or myself. We do not like rippers on this site at all and there will be action taken here, especially if they have advertised this site.

Thanks everyone. I'm going to go take some screenshots right now. Then I'm going to talk to her. If she doesn't remove the things she ripped I'll make sure I tell someone. I think I'll give her a chance though.

Until she removes it, should I make it so only members can see the role playing area?

It wont really do much, especially if they are really intent on taking your ideas. Simply registering an account will allow them to be privi to all the info that they were before. Also, it may deterr new memebers, so I don't really reccomend it.

I agree with all of the afformented ideas about how to handle this though. Ripping is a serious offence and will not be taken lightly.
