Title: What To Do, What To Do, What To Do...
Sapphire_flame - January 28, 2007 05:15 PM (GMT)
All right, there's a member on my site that's a bit, well, overwhelming. He has a bunch of characters who he almost never uses, and instead plays random NPCs. Furthermore, he seems to want to run the RP, making his characters in positions of power, and random government officials harassing and attacking our characters. He's made, like, 7 topics in about 3 days with no replies, only more government officials harassing citizens. My site is new and I really can't afford to lose active members, but it's driving me nuts. How do you reply to someone like him who seems to want to turn my sci-fi adventure into a cyberpunk soap opera?

Just calmly explain in a PM that running the RP like he owns it is not allowed. And if he continues to do it, ban him. I can understand you're concerned about losing active members, but come on. Is such an insane person really going to be missed?

I agree with Sunday, also adding a limit to the amount of characters can stop things like that. From experience I know just how many problems can arise when a member with a lot of characters leaves. If you don't want to limit the amount of characters you could try adjusting your rules. For example; add something about new characters or NPCs is up to the Moderator's discretion. Does your game use a lot of NPCs? Or is it just this member?

I have to agree that unless this person listens to you telling them that they need to calm it down a bit, you should probably ban them. Also, a limit on characters is always helpful. I usually try and limit everyone to having only two or three characters, because not only do they get confused as to who they are, but everyone else gets confused as to who is who as well.
I would send them a quick PM explaining that you don't like the way they are seemingly taking over the forum. You've got to be harsh to be nice!!!
Good luck ^_^

My advice would be to PM him and ask him to stick to his characters and refrain from making a bunch of NPCs. He may not realize what he's doing.
Also, limit the number of NPCs allowed. Tell the members that they can have x many characters and two NPCs if they so wish. (On my site, everyone can have one NPC which is controlled soley by them. Any other NPCs can be controlled by anyone who wishes.)

We talked it over on MSN, and everything was sorted out. Can someone close this topic?
