Title: Y Halo Thar
heranje - May 11, 2010 08:18 PM (GMT)
Hello! I've been lurking here for... a while now under a different account that I made to post an ad for my site before I discovered you needed a certain post count to advertise. xD And this seems like such a cool community, I've decided to make my own username and start posting a bit instead of just lurking.
So, hello! You can call me Eran, and I'm a 19-year-old Norwegian girl who has been roleplaying since I was around 12/13. I study Social Anthropology at university, and will be moving to England in the fall. I like discussing stuff about RP and often get on the lengthy side with my discussion-posts if I get really into it, so... bear with me. <__<; I tend to want to over-explain everything. Also, I have an unhealthy obsession with Poirot and Coke Zero and think pants were invented by the devil to torment people - I haven't owned a pair of jeans for four years, and spend my life in dresses and skirts. xD
Oh, and English isn't my first language. Though I pretend to be fluent, that's a convenient excuse to hide behind should I make stupid mistakes with my language. xP

O HEY ERAN. 8D;
welcome, glad you decided to join. :3 <333

OHAI STEPH! 8D I'd noticed you were around here!
ryokumori - May 11, 2010 09:01 PM (GMT)
'tis pretty much the only rp related place i haunt nowadays. xD kind of gave up on AR as far as finding good sites with a decent member base goes. :|
O WAIT you're coming to England in autumn? O: (i read that really well before posting xD) to a uni? :3
heranje - May 11, 2010 09:17 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I'm in the process of abandoning AR myself. xD What with the whole server-suck, I'm taking my site somewhere more reliable... eventually. Studies kill my energy for anything right now. xD It's sad that the AR community got to be so bleh. It was a good engine for building sites - I'm still not entirely thrilled about the idea of pure-forum ones. <_<
And indeed! 8D I'm going to be at Durham studying Anthropology and Sociology. My dreams of being able to speak English every day will be fulfilled! :D *boogie*

mm, i'd actually planned to make my next site on IF anyway so this is kind of the final thing needed to push me away. xD i'm glad everyone is trying to save it but at the same time, i've never found the actual rp community to be worth sticking around for anyway. since i've been advertising off AR i've had so much more fun in rps because of having nice, new people. xD arr, i still prefer the idea of having pages, but oh well. :/ i can cope if it means i don't have to worry about the average AR site life cycle of made, get quite a few members, everyone leaves because none of them are reliable and they're all the same folks, site dies. xD
aw that's awesome! i'm so glad. :3 -boogies also- that's well far up north, though. i've never been as far as manchester. xD then again i've never really been anywhere in the uk. e__e

welcome to teh d. 8D i love coke zero. normal coke feels .. sticky? that's not a taste, but it's how normal coke tastes to me. XD
i wish i could work out my uni app. D8 i'm still applying. and i'm such a pessimist i keep doubting i'll ever finish or get in. XD and i've only gotten two unis as possibilities, and i've only seen one. makes me wonder whether it'd be more useful to just apply the next year instead. but anyway. XD WELCOME TO RPG-D. XD again.
i'm not sure whether i even looked at durham, even if it is kinda nearby. XD
ryokumori - May 12, 2010 11:37 AM (GMT)
lol sean, don't worry about going to see them. i went to see one uni and it wasn't even one that i applied to. XD only went to get the day off school on my birthday. 8DD it would've been nice to see the ones i actually DID apply for but it's not a huge deal really. :B
seanbear. - May 12, 2010 11:43 AM (GMT)
baha. XD well still, i'm hesitant as to which ones i wanna put for my choices. and seeing as i had four and two of them changed to only accept international students, i'm down to leeds and sheffield hallam. but it at least cheered me up to see that i actually could get the grades if i try hard enough. XD
anyway .. we're hijacking eran's welcome thread. XD WLECOME ERAN.

Oh, about that! Thank you so much for the advice you posted about advertising off-AR. I decided to follow that very actively with my new site and we got so many members out of it - more active members than I've ever had on a site and with most of the most active people coming from places outside of AR. 8D
And I suppose Durham is far north? xP I'm Norwegian, my south is north-er than your North, so I don't really care much.
Hello, person! :D Yeah, cola with sugar is gross. I totally get what you mean about sticky - it's just... Not refreshing at all. Makes my mouth feel sort of dry and egh.
Aah, UCAS. x3 I'm ashamed to say it, but I sent in my app on the morning of January 15th. xD got in where I wanted, though, so hey. :p And I only applied to three places - St. Andrews, Durham and Edinburgh. There weren't any others I wanted to go to because I wanted somewhere that was good for anthropology, my dad demanded I go somewhere well-known and I don't want to live in London. So there weren't too many choices. I ended up applying to two different things in both St. A's and Edinburgh, though, to use up all my spaces - go in to both in Edinburgh. Oh, and I didn't go to see any of the unis, though I've been to all three places for different things before. :p
ryokumori - May 13, 2010 11:04 AM (GMT)
you're welcome! that kind of thing was the intention. 8D it's just a shame not many people bothered to use it, and will no doubt still cling to the AR ad board even after everything that's happened. :/
it rains in the north, is all i will say. D: Durham might be different but where i am for uni is always grey and wet. xD
xD UCAS was a nightmare, it's all so confusing. D: Edinburgh is EVEN FURTHER NORTH WOAH. i'm glad you got in to everywhere you wanted though. :3
seanbear. - May 13, 2010 11:06 AM (GMT)
it rains everywhere. not just in the north. XD but it depends on whether you're on the eastern or western side of the pennines - because the west gets a LOT more rain than the east. XD
and i never thought about scotland or the like. but it's supposed to be like, a lot cheaper or something? cuz scots get free uni, unlike england, and if you move from england to scotland you get cheaper uni fees or whatever.

Greetings! I'm only new myself, but from what I can see, this place is pretty cool, so you'll definitely enjoy yourself here.
Luke - May 16, 2010 05:56 AM (GMT)
I love your avatar, and your English is pretty decent. Better than most people who speak it. >.> (*blames many schooling systems, laziness, etc*)
Welcome to RPG-D! Stick around after you make fifteen? Maybe?
heranje - May 16, 2010 12:43 PM (GMT)
Haha, yes. xD I've already bought a new raincoat and wellies in anticipation of the rain.
I dunno about being cheaper... maybe? xD I think all UK education is expensive, anyway - in Norway it's free. So having to pay uni fees at all is an unfamiliar thing.
Hi, Lorem Ipsum! xD Your username makes me laugh.
And thanks, Luke! :p For some reason, I tend to represent myself with a happy cookie on forum sites. xD And I've been told that a couple of times. You're not the only ones - there are several Norwegians who write atrocious Norwegian as well. I watched a documentary today on how a way-too-high percentage of students exit high school without being able to read and write.
And I'm definitely sticking around after 15 posts. xP I decided to start posting because the 'D looks interesting, not because I wanted to advertise my site. We're not taking apps right now anyway, since we're in the process of moving to a new host.
Luke - May 16, 2010 07:29 PM (GMT)
Wow. That's horrid. Not being able to read and write is worldwide?
:( I feel pretty bad for the future of this world.
