Title: Pb-directory Changes!
Description: exciting news!
Mousie - March 10, 2010 07:18 AM (GMT)
That's right guys, we have found an even
better way for you to search for the perfect play-by!
Find My Face is now officially merging with the RPG-D PB-Directory to create a better resource for all of it's users. Over the next four weeks, we will be making the transition from PB-D to FMF.
Submitting to FMF is a simple process, but does require you be signed up to the blog. If you have any trouble submitting, feel free to PM me (Mousie) with any questions or concerns. FMF also incorporates it's own special links system, which is why we are first offering you guys the opportunity to move your own submissions over to the new system.
Those of you who have entries in the current PB-D, this is your chance to move your topics over. We aim to move everything over by the end of March. Once you've submitted a name to the new directory, post in the
Archiving thread to let us know it has been resubmitted.
If you have any questions/comments/suggestions regarding FMF replacing the PB-Directory, or any suggestions on how we could further improve FMF to make it more useful to you, feel free to post here!
xoxo Mousie & The RPG-D staff.

the new way to find your play-by.
ARE YOU ALWAYS STUCK LOOKING FOR PLAY-BYS?Find My Face! is a blog designed to help you, the roleplayer, find the perfect play-by for your character. With our unique tagging search system, you can pull up celebrities by age, gender, ethnicity, and a whole range of other features - leaving you with a list of celebs we think would be perfect for your character! Better yet, we've even included example icons so you can preview the possible play-bys without even having to load Google Image Search! And to make your life even easier, we've found some of the top links for each play-by, and listed them nice and neatly in each post!
Don't know what you're looking for? Check the whole
gallery to view icons of every single play-by listed at FMF! If you thought that was good, each icon links back to the original post! Even if you're just looking for resources on a particular play-by, the
complete list makes it easy to locate the play-by you're after, and find all of the resources we've already linked.
WAIT.. YOU LIKE TO HELP OTHERS FIND PLAY-BYS?Then we need you! Find My Face relies on user submissions to keep our database growing. We're looking for your ideas, your local celebrities, and your help in making Find My Face! the ultimate play-by directory! Check out the
contribution guide to see how you can help!
And what's in it for you, aside from the glowing feeling you get from helping tonnes of other people find what they're looking for? Links, of course! Link your RPG, website or other fun links to FMF using our
link system. That's right - the more faces you submit, the higher your link climbs!

What do we do for non-celebrities, like anime and videogame characters?
Mousie - March 10, 2010 07:42 AM (GMT)
Good question, Dec. Could you possibly send me a list of any tags that would be appropriate for those PBs? I think you know what's needed better than I do... and I'll create the category for it. :D
MOAR VARIETY!
ShelbySunshine - March 10, 2010 07:57 AM (GMT)
tehe. i love FMF.. I just submitted my first contribution!
Mousie - March 10, 2010 09:42 PM (GMT)
Woo! Yay. Non-real/Animated tags and categories have been added.
And love your work, Shelby. <3
Just a note in general - for people who are submitting. Please don't forget the 'nationality' (generally country of birth) for play-bys, and upload pictures straight to the post. You can do that using the upload/insert button.
This is mainly to make sure that all of the images always work, and - because otherwise, they don't show in the gallery if they're hosted elsewhere. Which is sad. If you need any help adding images or doing anything else, just give a yell!

Question 1 -- are all the old PB threads on RPG-D going to be deleted? Because some people made a LOT of icons, some of which people may want to use ..
Question 2 - If they're not gonna be deleted, where are they going to be moved to, and can they be linked in our FMF post as a resource?
Mousie - March 11, 2010 04:20 AM (GMT)
PB-Directory threads will be archived -- PB Icons will not. Would love to have the icons linked in posts. :D
aesthetically - March 11, 2010 04:44 AM (GMT)
So all the threads with icons in them will be left alone, but anything else (like the PB submission rules) will be archived?
Sorry, I'm just trying to figure out what happens to the PB icons I submitted. XD
Mousie - March 11, 2010 09:21 PM (GMT)
There are actually two sections.
PB-Icons and the
PB-Directory. It's the PB-Directory that we're transferring and archiving.
If you've put icons in PB-D, you're more than welcome to resubmit to both FMF and PB Icons, but as far as I know, most PB-D entries have larger example photos. :D

This is going fantastically so far, guys. Have already promoted a couple of people through to 'author', so it's great to see people getting the hang of it all!
It's a big job moving everything over, so heaps of thanks to those of you who are getting in there, and submitting to FMF. It really is gonna be an awesome resource.
<3
Edit to add: Have gone through the PB-D and archived everything that is already on FMF. Only 30 submissions! There's already stacks on FMF, but there seems to be quite a few key submissions missing on FMF... (Johnny Depp is not in there yet! XD).
Huge amounts of jellybeans to Vision_Afar and Avalanche. You guys are doing great. <3

Just so you know, I tried to put the site's button on my board from the code found
here, and... there appear to be issues with it, probably including but not necessarily limited to how the quotation marks don't look like the straight kind HTML needs. I had to rewrite the code to get it to work. I don't know if anyone else has had the same trouble, but I'm pretty sure it's the code and not my board.
seanbear. - March 14, 2010 11:04 AM (GMT)
yeah, someone's used something like word and it's changed the look of the quote marks. XD this code should work.

So! Update! FMF is now just twelve posts off making it to 200 submissions, which is fantastic. We really need to get stuck into getting some of the existing PB-Directory onto there.
Anyone who isn't confident or who is having trouble with Wordpress, contact me!
It might look scary, but it's really easy peasy! Promise!

So this might be a silly question, but are we going to have a list of all the people who have been submitted to FMF somewhere on the 'D? With like a basic description - the kind of thing that would have gone in the topic description section - of our posts on to the PB Directory on the 'D? I mean its great to have FMF, but at the same time it seems like its going to be more work to find a PB if we have leave the 'D to, go to another site, and start all over again. So maybe we could could have a master list on the 'D somewhere where the names of the play-bys were links to the FMF posts that correlate?
