Title: Harry Potter Books
Toni-May - December 28, 2006 08:47 PM (GMT)
The best Harry Potter book… A stupid poll I know, but it is more one to fill gaps… come on in and vote, even post reasons for choosing that book. Of course I’ll update it when the other one comes out, or maybe even start a new one.

Ootp. Basically because I love the book, the characters get more mature and there's happening so much in the book. Different settings and it's getting even more darker then the previous books like GoF and POA.

I don't know! *headdesk*
I love PoA but hate the curtain.
I love OotP for the depth and the history, and HBP I loved for the character development.
I suppose maybe HBP is my favourite...But I don't know ):

I was going to click Order of the Phoenix, but chose Goblet of Fire. In this book, we get to see Harry actually develope into a teenager when he starts to eyeball the veelas. We also get to see how teenagers interact and work out problems, ex. the fight between Harry and Ron.
And how could we forget about teh Yule Ball? What better way to see how teengers act during a dance and how a young boy deals with the death of a friend. We also get to see how a younger teen is the underdog and singled out because of his age and experience.
In this book, I could easily relate to Harry but still enjoyed OotP. Yet, I just love the fourth book and always will I guess (tongue)

Mine's Goblet of Fire. The prisoner of Azkaban was a close on though. I just love the Triwizard Tornument. I like it because it shows more of other schools and other parts of the wizard world.

I totally forgot about the Triwizard Tournament (tongue) That was my absolute favorite part come to think of it. My favorite task would be the third one and then comes the first one. The fourth book in my opinion is the first to show the dangers of the wizarding world and Lord Volemort's wrath such as the several death tolls in the tournament and teh death of Cedric Diggory (ouch)

Agreed. I voted for GoF.

PoA. Hands down. Mostly because my two favorite characters were introduced, though. :]
I also love that Harry finally gets to meet someone who truly cares about him; someone that he can call family. Sirius and Remus are two of the most amazing characters in the books, and I love the relationship they had with James and now have with Harry. And about a million more reasons. That book was simply wonderful.
...Don't even get me started on the fifth book. I cried/was in denial for the longest time after I read the part with "the veil".

PoA for no other reason than because I absolutely love Hagrid and his fasination with dangerous creatures and I adore Buckbeak. Sirius and Remus were totally a great addition to the Potter cast...just don't get me started on the movie...(shudder)

I loved OotP simply for the psychological value; Harry was going through some intense stuff in that book... he couldn't even trust his own dreams. I think it's one of the more well-written of the six so far, and though it was sad, the scene with the vail was superb.

Ooh. It was close between OotP and HBP. I liked OotP because Sirius died I loved the whole DA thing, Umbridge was the funnest person to hate ever, and Tonks was in that book. I <3 Bubblegum Pink hair.
However, I'ma have to go with HBP. Why? I LOVE Voldemort. He is my favoritest character and in this book, it explained a lot about his past and really gave you a deeper look into his personality and whatnot. But when Dumblydore died I was sad. But I still like Snape. I dunno why. I have this thing for villians... o.O Anywhoooo... I felt like there was a lot of character development in this book and a few loose ends were tied.

PoA. Don't know why. It just stood out above the rest for me, I suppose.
kimjhorner - February 16, 2007 10:59 AM (GMT)
I would have to say Prisoner of Azkaban. Mainly because in my opinion this is where the harry potter books stopped being kids books and started being something more mature. Harry gets to deal with fear itself and the other books are set up by the events in this one.
summerdanez - February 17, 2007 10:33 AM (GMT)
Goblet of Fire.
It had Cedric.
The end.
lotrfan185 - February 17, 2007 10:35 AM (GMT)
Half-Blood Prince. . . um, because Draco got to develop? And I still think Tonks is evil (tongue).
slashee - February 18, 2007 11:21 PM (GMT)
i loved order of the phoenix. hbp was okay. they just keep getting better. if the seventh isn't the best when it comes out i'm going to be really really angry forever.
Mariko - February 21, 2007 03:13 AM (GMT)
GoF is my favorite- the Triwizard Tournament, the interaction between the characters, the fact that it was basically the turning point in the series.
isabelle - February 21, 2007 04:12 PM (GMT)
I love all of them so much, but I think Order of the Phoenix is my favorite.
Here's my order from favorite to least favorite:
OotP, PoA, HBP, GoF, CoS, SS
I really excited for book 7. I can't wait for this summer.
holdme_close - February 27, 2007 08:43 PM (GMT)
I really loved HBP. It had so much character development and the plot with Voldemort got so much more complicated. It was great.
wonder woman - March 3, 2007 05:14 PM (GMT)
OOTP. I hate that Sirius dies but I love that there is so much more insight on the Marauder from the past.
--BEAN - March 12, 2007 10:05 PM (GMT)
I've only read the first 2 and a half... am I the only person ever to have not read them all?
Lusus Naturae - March 13, 2007 04:20 PM (GMT)
Goblet of Fire. But... Half-Blood Prince comes in at a close second, for giving me my favorite quote that I can't say due to spoilers. Bah.
OnlyHappyWhenItRains - March 13, 2007 05:52 PM (GMT)
Mine was a tough call between PoA and GoF.
The first two were kind of ... I don't know, but you could tell they were definately geared towards a younger audience back there. I was kind of indifferent to the whole series until PoA came along and really only liked HP for the roleplaying value alone.
But PoA is definately what got me hooked, and why I chose it as my favorite. For one, Sirius was one of my favorite characters EVERRRRR. Other than that, I just loved the whole book and how surprising the twists and turns were. It was one of the few I could sit there and read it in it's entirety the day it came out because it was so good.
Though I also liked GoF. That was when the series really began to get dark and forboding, especially after PoA which was more of a light-hearted book compared to the others in my opinion? It could be awfully long-winded in parts though and some of it was just... blehh, like the whole SPEW thing. But overall, I loved the concept of the Triwizard tournament and all the Voldy action. And I might have teared up when Cedric died...
The last two, however, I find myself more angry with than actually liking. ESPECIALLY HBP. Now I'm not a happy go lucky and it's not because I don't like conflict and suffering and blah de blah, but more along the lines of that was when it became harder and harder to actually like the protaganists. Harry came across as a whiner, Ron a prat, Hermione a nag - and the adolescent moodiness definately got to me. I hated the whole Lavander, Ron, Hermione, love quadrangle or whatever. The only exciting part of any of those two books was finding more out about Voldemort, and I actually found myself liking him better than the trio? And also Mr. Snapey-poo provided some delightfully twisted and delicious plot twists. So I'm hoping the seventh book ends up boding better with me than the most recent two have. I'd hate to end the series on a sour note.

I enjoyed the third and fourth books the best I think......
I thought the third movie DESTROYED The book though. It drove me insane.
I think overall I just enjoyed the character development and the tension within the books.
Something about the last book that I just didn't enjoy very much.
*Hope* - March 31, 2007 02:27 PM (GMT)
I voted for Goblet of Fire as I think that's the book when the most drama took place. It also really annoys me
potteryourotter - April 17, 2007 09:06 PM (GMT)
I really, really liked HBP because things are starting to get more intense. True ********** ((for those of you who have yet to read it)) died, but it is still the best book by far. The Trio is finally beginning to grow up (which although i am a HP whore, and I read the books religiously, the trio growing up was long overdue), and hormones are really beginning to kick in. I, personally, can't wait for the R/Hr ship to finally happen. They need to say that they love each other already! It's so obvious!
xaphania - April 20, 2007 02:33 PM (GMT)
Half Blood Prince, definitely. My favourite used to be GoF, but that changed when the sixth book came out. There are loads of things I like about it - the trio have matured, H/G happened, the humour was great...it goes on.
I'm sure DH will be great though.
Theresa Crane - June 13, 2007 04:08 AM (GMT)
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince hands down
Phoenix Lament - June 13, 2007 05:53 AM (GMT)
I love love love love love love them all too much. I voted for Half-Blood Prince though because we learned so much and Tom's past was insanely interesting. And yeah, he died but, I was expecting it from the very beginning. But it was sad. I still, however, am on Snape's side. And HBP was just... great. Characters matured, we learned more... it was just altogether a great book.
But, oh my gosh. DH looks SO cool so far. I mean... -squee- THE DRAGON. EEEEEE. I don't know what to think! Everything we've seen so far is just so... OMGWTFEEEGAHDIE. DH is so going to be my favorite. Plus, it has the best abbreviation. XDD HBP? My cousin always makes fun of that one and calls it "High Blood Pressure". Riiight. Harry Potter and High Blood Pressure. XD OOTP just sounds funny, especially if you say it like its written. OOTP. XD PoA and CoS are okay. PS/SS... eh. XDDD
Sorry, totally random and out there. I was actually thinking of Ben from MuggleCast... and yeah. >_> XD
sabyr - June 13, 2007 07:39 PM (GMT)
I chose HBP because I could imagine what it would look like as a movie, down to the camera angles and special effects. The movie will be awesome, and being able to imagine those scenes while reading it helped me like it more.
Plus the undead guys are cool. :p
Proto Stryker - July 24, 2007 07:27 AM (GMT)
I suppose, considering that the newest came out, I'd have to say that one. It won all around for me. Outside of that, I'd have to go with OotP.
butterfly_kisses325 - July 24, 2007 08:00 AM (GMT)
My favorite is the Prisoner of Azkaban.
I don't know. I just thought that the story was well developed and it had an interesting, and captivating plot in it. I also thought that it didn't have so much drama as the rest of the books, and that the main characters weren't still at that point where ... well, I don't know... they still had that innocence in them, I think?
Anyway, yeah, I just thought that was my favorite book. And I guess I couldn't really explain why I liked it. I guess I just do. -shrugs- Ah well.
