I have been admin of two very successful sites, and this is an example of my writing for a site that was...well, I didn't even advertise it because I scrapped the idea.

It is a dawn of a new time for pirates: they are a dying breed, slowly being hunted down by the Royal Navy and other pirate killers in order to free the waters of the Caribbean from them.
However, Jack Sparrow is not about to let that happen. He will not accept his imminent fate, and instead desires to stay true to his pirate heritage, and makes an all-out war with the British Royal Navy. This has gained him many enemies, including newly promoted Commodore James Norrington. Meanwhile, the president of the East India Trading Company, Cutler Beckett, is enjoying pompous success; but is now on a mission to retrieve a compass from Jack: the compass that doesn't point north.
And so, Jack is now traveling back to Tortuga in an attempt to let his crew flourish. But, as he tries to slip past Port Royale undetected, he gets into an unlucky situation stuck between two powers -- Norrington and Beckett! In a desperate attempt, he calls upon the help of Tia Dalma, a sorceress who takes up her living in the peaceful part of an island called Pelegosto, and island which also houses a cannibalistic indian tribe...

Kora Lake is a small, tranquil village, and at first glance, all seems to be well. The people are peaceful and such, and daily lives go on as usual. Warfare sees no blood here; everyone is generally peaceful. However, when the moon arises and the sky turns black, a dark shadow engulfs the land, and causes darkness to rise. The people live in fear of the twilight.
The guards of the Shadow King rise from the lake, and step their grimy feet onto shore, invading the peaceful lives of the Kora Lake villagers. No one knows where exactly they come from, but the mayor is determined to find out, so he can try to stop the fear and vanquish the twilight from the land.
The mayor, Thomas Baldwin, is in fear. His village is crumbling under the power of the Shadow Guards; but all hope is not lost. The Guards are vulnerable to light, which is a reason why they must retreat to the lake at dawn. If they stay too long, they will be sealed in stone forever. This can save the villagers...if they can only build up the courage to fight all night long.
Their torture is also cursed. The villagers all have an enchantment upon them -- there are vampires, undeads, and even wereanimals -- as the mayor himself is. It is a terrible curse, and the people wish greatly for it to stop. But the only thing that can save them is their own courage. The mayor is formulating a plan. The story begins in the dawn of a new year...
