Title: A Festivus For The Rest Of Us

CrazyPants - December 24, 2006 01:32 AM (GMT)
Well, I just wanted to say happy Festivus everyone!!!!

For everyone who doesn't know Festivus is a holiday created by the show Seinfeld with the slogan Festivus for the Rest of Us. Basically it consists of 4 major things:

The Pole: In place of a Christmas tree or anything else you put up an aluminum rod ((aluminum because of its great "height-to-weight ratio" according to the show))
A Festivus Feast: Not necessarily a feast...but you eat a dinner on Festivus just as you would for Christmas. I'm sure there are people who eat some sort of traditional Festivus food. This year I just had black bean quesadillas, mack and cheese, and guacamole which my family decided should be our annual Festivus meal.
The Airing of Grievances: After dinner you sit around and tell everyone how they've disappointed you in the past year
The Feats of Strength: The host of the party will challenge one of the guests to a wrestling match. No one can leave the party until the host has been pinned to the ground.

So that's basically it....Festivus is celebrated on December 23 and I thinks it’s relatively fabulous.

Though I created this thread mostly to wish everyone a happy Festivus/Holiday Season I might as well ask, does anyone else celebrate Festivus??

Hehe, that sounds like so much fun. But I've never even heard of it before. I've heard of Seinfield but never actually watched it.

I think it would be hilarious to do something like that with your family if you don't really want to celebrate Christmas and of course if you have a family with a sense of humour. Maybe even cool to do with a bunch of friends.

Ehr so, happy 'belated' Festivus to you too ^_^.

Oh, I thought this was going to be a thread wishing everyone a happy Saturnalia.
