My husband says "nip it it the butt". I figured it was just him, but I just saw someone on here say that. I always said "nip it in the bud" -- you know, as in cut it off before it "blooms" into something bigger. Which do you say?

'Bud' is correct, as a five-second Google search will tell you.

I actually use it interchangeably. I know bud is correct, but my father says butt, so it's kind of rubbed off on me and I say it half and half.
