Title: Amount Of Posts
Legend Killer - November 30, 2006 02:22 AM (GMT)
I think your amount of posts before you are able to advertise is a little bit too high. I understand that you want your members to stay active to the forum and since I sign up I am a dedicated member, unless I get too busy which most of the time I am not. So I think you should cut down the amount of posts before advertising down to 10

That is because we would have people just making ten post in the same forum just to post their sites and leave. It is to show that you are dedicated to RPG-D and once you are dedicated, you love coming back to RPG-D :] But I think ten is too low and the number should change. I mean, some people could make ten post in minutes, post their forum, and never come back.

I agree. And what is the number? Only 15? what is 5 more posts?
I believe 15 to be quite generous. A couple other Advertising forums I have visited required 30!
o.O

Thirty seems reasonable in my opinion. I can just check to find the requirement for you, phoenix and will PM it to you. Hope I helped by the way ;) Although, I should've memorized it after looking over the rules over a million times XD

Yes, the advertising rule is 15. When we first opened, it was only 5, a reasonable amount for the forum of it's size, but as we grew, we realized that in order to keep some of the traffic which we generated, the requirement needed to be raised. I think that 15 is quite generous. A few posts in the intro forum, look over a few of the discussions in Managing RPG's, which have become quite popular, and you are done. I feel that once you get a taste of some of the material here, you are more likley to stay, which is what we are going for, an active and friendly community, with a nice index as a perk.

Amanda, you spoke the words right out of my mouth. Also, I don't think five more posts isn't too seeing how popular RPG-D. And by that time, you are most likely going to stay :D

Yeah you two are right, it seems I may have had a change of heart but as of now I already have 15+ posts and I bookmarked this site so it looks like I am staying

That's great ^_^. Amanda is quite right with her explanation about the 15 posts. And you know, RPG-D isn't all about advertising. The 15 post rule is also to get people posting, thus they taste a bit of what RPG-D is really about. And see how fun and educational the board actually is next to the advertising.
Well I suppose this Q&A is solved, so lets not post in this one anymore. Thanks everyone for their time to reply here.

Personally, I think 15 is a great amount. Neither too high or too low. When I made my first site on Invisionfree and was told to come here, I thought I would just post my Ad and then leave (like I have done on many boards that allow it). But, them ore I had to post, the more I got really involved in the topics I was posting in. It drew me back, and it's been several months now, and I always come back here to see what's going on.

As I said, lets not post here anymore, there is no point in replying anymore, everyone has stated the same thing over and over again.
