Title: Something Interesting About The Universe!
Description: And funny...

ShinLi - November 15, 2006 08:08 PM (GMT)
Well yeh as usual I was browsing through forums, topics and posts, and from link to link to link I found this video. I myself am quite interested in the univers, galaxies and stars (hence why I'm a trekkie fan XD). But yah, this video is quite interesting and also entertaining at the same time. It just amazed me with every new picture shown. It takes quite a while to load, at least did for me, I have no clue if it's true but it's worth looking.

Reactions, your own theories and thoughts are very welcome to be posted in here ^^.

Oh yes, I saw this a few weeks ago.
It's frightening, but also so ...inspiring, in a way.
We are so insignificant... we're part of such a huge, fathomless picture, yet much of our time here (individually, in our communities, and our whole existance as a whole) is often wasted by war & endangerment.
Somehow it just feels that if everyone knew that, there would be more sense in the world. Or perhaps less.

Nothing new to me, I like this kinda stuff. My Aunts studies other Galaxies. She gets pictures of them and knows so much about our universe. She teaches me lots of stuff. I'll tell you guys that this stuff is true(some of it may be a little exagerated though). They kind of tricked you, that was a picture of a galaxy cluster. Galaxy clusters are small patches of many galaxies. Usualy between galaxy clusters, are only 100-300 galaxies. The space between a galaxy cluster can range up to quadrillions of lightyears ;o . Heres a bit of info that makes everything scarybig. The universe is not endless, picture a large ball(realy large XD ) that is our universe. Out side this ball are millions and billions of other balls, each countaining a universe. The other universes have diffrent laws of physics, different planets, diffirent life forms(if any), etc. This are containing all the universes is called the multiverse. Our access gate to the multiverse: Black holes. (This is a theroey though XD )

Thats my little lesson ^_^

With all these galaxies and universes, (and probably multiple multiverses), I really think that people who don't believe in aliens are crazy.

And they tried to put me in the straight jacket. :p

yup the chances of other life, for our universe alone, is 64.99% or something close to that :D

The chances for other life in the multiverse, is no less than 99.99%

ShinLi - November 16, 2006 06:10 PM (GMT)
I'd like to know what the chance is for intelligent life. I suppose that 64.99% involves all life, so even bacteria etc. but also intelligent life.

Anyway, I do believe in what geuss said, that our universe doesn't have an end, and that it only goes on and on ( I mean the distances between galaxies is almost already impossible for humans to understand). It is really cool to see that those pictures are basically what happend millions of years ago, and it is not a picture of something that is the same as our time. So just imagen what it might look now there? It might be completly different or planets there have life froms. What if there are intelligent life forms on a planet in the picture we took, and they took the same picture of our part of space? *mind isn't fucntioning properly after long day of school*.

I wish I had an aunt like you geuss, that is so interesting to have an aunt that knows a lot about space.

Heres chances for intelligent life: Our universe: around 45% The Multiverse: 99%

In our universe there is supposed to be intellegent life, but scientists belive their not like UFO Aliens, they're supposed to be at our level of intelligents or lower. The multiverse however has a very slim chance to no intelligent life. Physics are diffrent in these universes, so the possibilities range from other humans existing on an earth like planet in a diffirent universe, to creatures made up of quadrillions of electrons.

45% in our universe? Thats a low ass chance.
Five planets around each star. -5
4,000,000,000 stars in each galaxy. -20,000,000,000
1,000,000,000,000 galaxyies in the universe.- 20,000,000,000,000

Thats alot of planets. These of course are estimates and making it lower doesn't really do crap.

Ok, random nitpick time. (My dad does astrophotography as a semi-professional hobby, so I have somewhat of a passing interest in astronomy. I think we have a poster of the huge picture of many galaxies shown in the YTMND on our wall somewhere... anyway.)

Different laws of physics? As far as I know that would rather rain on the astrophysicists' parades. People are out there studying how stars - it's how black holes were proven - and even how other galaxies move or in what direction the universe is going. Of course theoretical astrophysics is sort of considered a nutty branch of science, and physics itself is a bit odd because there are branches of it which haven't been made to play nice with one another yet (Ensteinian physics, Newtonian physics and Quantum physics)... (I like biology better to be honest... :p) (Wikipedia explains it better, my brains are melting out of my ears due to being up late: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astrophysics - hopefully I've made my point vaguely clear.)

I really love watching that little video - it really is very relaxing. Just look at everything out there, then all the other stars. Holy hell, why waste any of your life worrying about the tiny stuff and stressing out when you're part of something so big? Kind of like that mind game my parents used to play with me when I was little. "Oh, your finger hurts? We'd better cut your foot off, then, so that you don't notice."

Forever Obsessed - November 18, 2006 07:13 PM (GMT)
Oh geez.

This makes me see how narrow-minded I am, or rather how doubtful.

It's not that I believe that it's all a crock, why couldn't there be more than un on Earth. After all, the universe doesn't revolve around Earth. (Bad Joke, bad joke:D)

I just find it hard to believe all of these other galaxies, planets, and possible intelligent lifeforms to be out there. Do I have an actual reason. No. It's just my complex. :D
