There has been a recent opening in our directory staff, so we're opening up one more hiring to get it filled.

Directory Moderator

As directory moderator, you’ll be part of a team of six staff members who accept ad submissions into our directory daily. The directory mods really work behind the scenes: we keep the directory up to date on a monthly basis, deal with the constant incoming flow of submissions, and take care of problems or issues that may arise. We keep the directory running smoothly and efficiently for the benefit of our members. You'll be working under me (Directory Manager), and you would come to me about questions, problems, etc. that may arise.

This position takes a lot of dedication, so free time is usually a must.

Perks of being a Staff Member:

1. Make suggestions for new services, new forums or ideas you have to improve RPGD. You have a say in how things are run and what new things will come to RPGD.
2. Entry to the Staff Lounge ‘and’ Elite Forum.
3. All moderators will receive mod abilities in the C-Box.

Requirements for applicants:

1. You must be an active member on RPG-D. To apply you must have a minimum post count of 40 posts.
2. You must have free time on your hands, you must be online for almost every day (understandably, real life does get in the way sometimes, so as long as you keep us posted you're fine).
3. You must be willing to be an active and dedicated staff member (this seems obvious, but I'll state it none the less). And I will repeat, dedicated! This job takes quite some time and dedication, but working together as a team makes the job so much easier and the process so much smoother.
4. Available from the moment you are hired.

Why do you want to work on RPGD?: Well, I have run sites for awhile and can be professional when working, even in stressful situations. Oh I'll vent anonymously here, but on the sites I'm professional. :D I would love to help out, in coding, graphics and any way I can really. I have no problems using the Mod or Admin CP so can work quickly. I'm a big multitasker so can be going through the directory and making sure everyone is sorted while also checking their activity level for sorting as well. While doing the job in front of me, I have no problems finding other places to help out for when there is the need to fill spots where other teams or members might need help. I like working in a group and staying in contact with each other so everyone knows what is going on and if someone is having a rough week someone else can help out with picking up the slack!

Why do you want to work on RPGD?:
I think I'd like the opportunity to be more involved on the site as well as help out. That's the simplest way to put it. How would I specifically benefit the team? I'm a very organized and methodical person when it comes to RPGs; I think that's very useful when Director Mod-ing. I like functionality and I work hard to achieve it. As for experience, I've been working to upkeep sites for about five years. I'm also a fast learner and... good with computers? (Working for a Computer Science degree.) Oh, yeah... Boomerang tells me I'll "shine light into the site", so if you want to take his word for it...

I'm a moderator on Myridian Revolutions where I handle the information lists, some documentation and generally do the tidying up.

I'm on at least once a day, every day of the week, really. (One of them D-addicted loons that stalk the site even during finals time).

Why do you want to work on RPGD?: Besides that I love this place and I would really like to help out, I have too much free time. I am online daily, even in busy periods. When I have fifteen minutes or more of free time, I'm online. I stop by RPG-D daily, and would love to have more to do than just lurking and finding interesting areas to post. I like people and I work in the service industry, as it is. In my opinion [and, if I may, the opinion of my boss and others at work] I excel and always do my job to the tenth degree. :) I enjoy being useful and I'm a hardworker. I hate letting people down and I hate failing. I'm organised and good in stressful situations [do you know how crazy people get when their taco is made incorrectly?! o_o]. I like to randomly pop in the directory and sift through ads, as is. It'd be awesome to, personally, be able to keep people updated on what sites are active. I love that you do that here! More or less, I just want to have something to do besides just roaming around with nothing to do on the net all the time.

General Activity on RPG-D?: I'm, generally, online daily. The past four to five days I've been a little dead due to some minor to medium catastrophes in my real life. Those don't happen often though.

Why do you want to work on RPGD?: Well, I've been a member of the roleplaying world in general since 2004, so I know the ropes well enough. Also, I just really like to feel helpful and well, let's be honest, how much more helpful can you feel than being a directory mod on RPG-Directory. I'm just a sucker for managing directories and advertising too, I've pretty much got it down to a science on my own sites over the years and would love to contribute over here. You don't have to worry about me running out on the site, I've been here a while and if I left you guys high and dry as a staffer, I'd really be dooming myself, since I'd be left essentially homeless. Which, now that I think about it, doesn't sound like a great selling point, but at least it's totally honest! ^_^

And can I just say, I love that RPG-D is so drama free! And if I'm wrong and it isn't totally drama-free, you guys do a great job of not airing all your dirty laundry to the members. Love the love. (I sound like a hippie :) )

What are the forums you own/are staff on: I only have one right now, Coughing Up Ghosts and am working on setting up a new one, but, it's the summer, I'm only working casual/part-time, I've got time on my hands.
General Activity on RPG-D?: Ah, here's the thing, I'm a chronic lurker of RPG-D, as in, whenever I'm on the computer, I'm usually on RPG-D, reading shenanigans and generally creeping about. As of rather recently, RPG-D is my number one and only haunt for all resources. So, despite my lack of posting, what I'm saying is, I'm always on.

Why do you want to work on RPGD?: I’ve always wanted to be involved in this site. RPG-D is a big community with a lot of people, and just that alone makes me feel comfortable. Odd enough, I love to work and organize things. So I defiantly love sorting advertisements on RPG Collection. Yeah, I’m the Ninja Pie, and I would be honored if I could help out here, too! Even though I am an administrator on three sites and a moderator at RPG Collection, that doesn’t mean I am too busy to work here. I, quite frankly, have a lot of free-time on my hands, and I would be happy if I had a job here working. I am a trusting person, and I try to follow rules the best I can for I just hate getting into trouble.


Organizing the ads sounds fun for me. I would be on RPG-D everyday making sure everything is up to date, for organization is something that helps not only myself, but everyone else as well. I am a hard-worker and would stay on until my job is completed or completed to a good degree. If there is something that needs to be done that I’m supposed to do, I will help and do it. ^^ RPG-D is an organized place with active members, and I would be honored if I got the job to help you guys out some more. ^^; I would benefit the site by helping you guys as a team to get the ads sorted and accepted. Why do you want to work on RPGD?: As I said to Luke (actually) in my welcome post -- once I find a site I'm comfortable at, I throw myself into it and want to help out wherever I can. I've been playing in games for nearly 15 years now, in every medium from table-top to message boards to journal-based and I cannot remember a time in those 15 years when I was not involved in a game. Usually I'm a moderator, though these past few years are the first that I've not had a game under my direct control. So organisation when it comes to online things is definitely one of my fortes.

When it comes to game setup, I'm always the one people come to when asking for assistance, or how to advertise, or whatever is needed in an advisory position. I'd like to be able to lend my years of knowledge to others and help with the directory role. For me, one of the saddest parts of a RPG is watching it die because admins can't find members -- so if I can help an admin out through the directory and making sure things are up to date and new members can find games, then I'm a happy camper. ;^)

What are the forums you own/are staff on: I co-modded/owned a lot of boards over the years, though it was several years ago. I am, at present, working with a friend on a new board, opening once we have all of the details of the world(s) ironed out!

General Activity on RPG-D?: I log on at least once a day, and have been known to load up the board from my cell phone too every now and again. ;^) Usually I hang out in the 'Forum Management' or 'Members Section' of the board, giving advice or discussing various aspects of role-playing. I do spend quite a bit of time looking through the Directory forums too. ;^)

Why do you want to work on RPGD?: I won't lie,I've killed a man with my thumb to get the last jar of pickles from the deli. I want to be a member of the staff because I generally just love boards. I can't explain it, but I usually do this to every board I'm on - I work my way up by just posting continuously, and then once I become staff - I just generally try to go up from there.

RPG-D is a 'second home' to all RPers, including me. Whether you want to determine how addictive it is or not, a study would show that generally most of all the members, come back. I'm one of those members. Although I've just recently begun my reign of terror upon RPG-D, I'm a devote member, willing to participate in any activity there is, and willing to do it with as much effort and time as required. I'm one of those willing to go the extra mile. I'm currently finishing up my 8th grade year [9th year of schooling], which means I'm heading into summer - the golden season, for the expanded time I am on the computer. Although I will not be on 24/7, I will try for something around 6 hours per day, 6 days a week [geek!].

I can't say 'pick me', because I'm willing to work my way to the job, but I can say if you do - you don't have to worry about the new Directory Mod being a slacker. If you pick me, I'd be beyond happiness, and I'd love to start, immediately.

Why do you want to work on RPGD?: Well, like many have said before me, I have loads of free time to spare. I've always loved RPG-D and the people here are pretty great. I'd love to be able to contribute more to the site than a few posts here and there. I spend a good portion of my time on the site as it is anyway. I've been admin on quite a few boards. I'm willing to give my opinion on any new changes, but I know how to keep my mouth shut when required. =P I'm fairly organized and quick about getting things done. Why do you want to work on RPGD?: Well, I'm very organized when it comes to putting things where they need to be. I'm extremely active and major time on my hands which is slightly sad lol. I'm kind-hearted and i absolutely love RPGD. I have more than enough experience as an admin on my boards and I'm a great moderator. I spend most of time here so if im actually helping out then its a major bonus for me and for the board. RPG-D has become my safe haven lately and i would love to give back to it. My post count isn't much i can assure you I'm a great gal with lots to offer the people of RPG-D. I've been in the world of RPG for almost 6 years and there is no leaving it for me. I can totally see myself still here at the age of 50 thats how devoted not to mention addicted to the RPG world so if im contributing to it then it makes the whole experience so much more amazing. I've got some other things to offer the forum like my graphic skills and my ability to edit skins in my own special way. I'm also a great person to be and overall a great member in my own little head. This is my reason xD (bye).
