Title: Most interesting/special things you own?!

ShinLi - March 31, 2006 06:52 PM (GMT)
Well, around forums there are mostly topics like 'what's your most prized possesion' or 'what are your favourtie possesions' etc. etc.

I suppose those are interesting subjects, as most things would come out are like 'computer' 'ipod' 'game console' etc. etc.

But no, lets talk about the most interesting/special things you own. This doesn't have to be something new. This can be something with a history, something that is very dear to you. Something small you got from a stranger, but you still save it. Maybe it's a teddybear you have since you were a baby, but it's still next to your pillow. It might be your 'rare' barbie collection. Something new or something very old.

Why is this so interesting, what's special about it? When did you get it or bought it? Has it a history?

I'll tell my interesting/special things I own a bit later!

Andy - March 31, 2006 07:13 PM (GMT)
Weeeee. Okay let me think.

There maybe a few. I just remembered that somewhere in my dads house, there is indeed a teddy. A blue hippo. On the day of my birth, my dad went and got it for me. I think it is in one of my cupboards on a shelf.

Also. Special things to me are two cards, sent to me on separate occasions, by a special someone, hehe. She knows who she is! ;)
I still have them on my shelf that also holds all my J.R.R. Tolkien books. A special and high place indeed lol. :D

Erm... Owh! On a shelf next to that are my Terry Pratchett books, but on the corner is a pocket watch, silver. It was my grandad's before he died. It no longer works but I keep it there, untouched.

Might post again if I remember more!

Can't wait lol. ;)

Took me a minute to think of something, but one thing really came to my mind.

I loved American Girl Dolls when I was little and I currently have...three of them. Addy, an American Girl of today, and Kaya. I saved up my own money for Addy and my American Girl of today, but not Kaya.

I got her one year for Christmas. Actually, it was the day after Christmas when I got her. It was long after we'd opened all of the presents and we thought there was nothing left. My parents found this big box in their closet, though, and my American Girl, Kaya, was in it. Brand new. And she was the only one I really wanted at the time.

Thing is, no one knows where she came from. Like, my parents...after the three years (I think) I've had her, they'd tell me whether or not they put her there and were just trying to trick me. But they don't know how she got there either. None of my aunts or uncles knew either. I thought it was my uncle because he was the only person who'd come in the house lately, but...he told me he didn't bring it in. Plus I don't remember him bringing in any big package when he came.

So, yeah, I have Kaya now. And I don't know where she came from. o_O

bunnysocks - April 2, 2006 04:33 AM (GMT)
That's cool. :) I only have Felicity, but when I was little, I loved them. I'd spend hours looking through the catalogs and planning out what I was going to buy with the money I saved up. By the end of first grade I had read all the books.

As for my stuff, I have a saddle sitting in my basement. I used to ride and my aunt gave it to me, but then I stopped. I wanted to give it to my cousin but my aunt didn't want me to- no idea why- so it's been sitting there for a couple years now.

I have my old cat's collar in my jewelry box. He died when I was in 6th grade and I've always kept the collar. I think a couple days after he died I wore it to school as a bracelet, but I don't really remember.

I don't have much interesting stuff, beyond all my materialistic things that I feel bad admitting I value (iPod, Coach purses)...

ShinLi - April 2, 2006 11:42 AM (GMT)
Well, I have a few special and interesting possesions which I am very proud of.

My special possesion is a ring that was my grandmothers. She died some years ago and each of the grandchildren could have a ring. My grandmother was real jewelry person, so she had loads. But because I was the oldest grandchild, I got the ring she had worn most. It's a nice golden ring with a red stone on it. When I got it the red stone was complety dulled (?). So we went to a jeweller to ask if there could be put on another stone, and they were able to. So after a week we got the ring again, it was completly polished, the gold was gold again, it was so beautiful. I only expected that they'd put in a new stone, nothing more. So I was very happy about that. When I remember now, I wear the ring ^_^.

Another interesting possesion of mine is something I bought last summer. In the summers we always have market days every tuesday's. On those markets are also people who sell second hand stuff and old rubbish. But ofcourse it's not all rubbish. I saw this beautiful old wooden chart case. It was really big, but I loved it. Those wooden cases were used about hundred years ago at primary schools to keep the charts of countries in. Those were big charts which could be hung on the wall when they would teach with the charts.

I just couldn't let it stand there, so I bought it XD. It is heave because it's of massive wood, but it's great. It's just a wooden case, and now standing in my room. When I have time I'll make a picture of it, because I think you actually have no clue what I'm talking about.

Owh yeah, my barbie collection ^_^, I could never get rid of them. I think when I move out, I'll take all my barbies with me.

That's all I suppose that's really special or interesting what I own. Further it's just all the basic stuff like ipods, tv, game consoles XD

Insomnium - April 4, 2006 11:20 PM (GMT)
I get so many random things…

I have some really awesome skeleton keys that I bought at a thrift store. I love them because they are all... rustic looking and they always bring up curiosity if I wear them. Great for conversations. ;)

Let's see... I also have this really awesome screen behind my bed made from whicker and iron. It's pretty and it's different looking… I’ve never seen one other than mine except at the store where I bought it.

I have this tassel thing that is made with beads and bells... it makes an awesome sound. I have a cool statue of a yellow frog that I still need to hang up so it looks like it’s climbing my wall.

I have a paper that I found in the dirt once and it says “Just Junk”… so I kept it. I have a collection of notes and random junk that I pass during classes… my friend has over half of it… she somehow ends up with most of the notes. I have a wall full of my drawings, one of a kind that you can’t buy off e-bay. ;)

That’s all I can think of right now… I’d have to go down to my room to list everything. I’m too random to remember.

Shadow of the Rain - April 6, 2006 01:04 AM (GMT)
My most special possession is my Sonic the Hedgehog stuffed animal. I got him when I was five, only a couple of months after I first began what has been, so far, a life-long obsession. He replaced Ken as the boyfriend/husband of my favorite Barbie doll for years. After my doll years passed, he came with me to my room and I still sleep with him every night. His arms have fallen off some five or six times (One of the reasons I learned to thread a needle), and the white shine on his eyes have rubbed off.

However, I still love him to death. He always sits in my lap when I play Sonic games. ^__^;;

Somethine else I love is my faerie collection. About a year and a half ago, I decided I wanted to start collecting mythological creature figurines. However, my family and friends just get me faeries for Christmas and birthdays, so it's just a faerie collection right now (though I do have a Chinese dragon that I bought). I like them though. I give 'em names such as Sunblossom, Rosewind and Petalsky just cuz, honestly, what other names should one give to faerie statues? ;)

Silvain - April 6, 2006 02:12 AM (GMT)
Numero Uno:

My sketchbooks. See, I'm going to become a successful fashion designer when I grow up. In preparation, I have a few sketchbooks filled with designs. These mean the world to me, seeing as how they are my life when it comes down to it.

Numero Two-o:

My leather jacket from Paris. I bought a leather jacket while on my first trip to Paris. France is my favorite country and I want to move there after college, and the jacket makes me feel fuzzy and at home when I wear it.

Numero Three-o:

My heron scissors! I have a small pair of gold-plated sewing scissors in the shape of a heron, the beak as the blades. I just love that pair of scissors, though I don't get to use them as much as I'd like.

Elfga265 - May 24, 2006 02:02 AM (GMT)

_thursday - May 24, 2006 08:59 AM (GMT)
my Mr. Pooky Teddy Bear.... its the teddy that garfield carrys around... Mine is very old... and i love him ^^

Suki Maioh - May 24, 2006 08:56 PM (GMT)
Hm...

Well there's a few. So I'll just... anyway. Rusty!! He's this little dog, all curled up and cute. He's so old though, it's amazing. I've had him since I was like... ten I think. OK not that old. Anyway, I got him from the security guards at my school, because this girl saw a new purse I had gotten and was like "OMG thats MINE!" well it wasn't, but I ended up giving it to her anyway. It's just a purse, I didn't really care. But still I was upset because I was nice about it and she was just all rawrish. So the head security guard stops me in the hallway like three days later and hands me this dog. He said "My friend Rusty here needs a good home and I think you're nice enough. He'll like you." It was just awwww. I swear I didn't let go of him for about three months.

Then there's this picture of my mom and sister. They got it done at Glamour Shots, so they're really pretty in it. Mom isn't the prettiest person in the world, she usually looks quite sickly, but they managed to make her look very pretty. So I hang on to that as a memory of how normal my mother can be. And because my sister moved to Arizona, and I'm still in Kansas, so it's like... yeah. That's worse than when she moved to Colorado. She tends to jump around the USA, so I hang on to it.

And finally, but definately not least. My first soccer gear. Yeah kinda lame and makes me sound like a jock, but I got it from my grandmother, because I had to save up all my money to pay for the activity ticket so I could actually go to the games, which was stupid, but I ran out of money and dad didn't have enough either. Well, two days later, I recieve this big package from UPS and it had my cleats, a shiny new soccer ball, knee and ankle guards... oh my lord I cried. I rarely see that grandmother so I was quite touched. lol. I are so emotional :P

mysticsea - May 25, 2006 07:47 PM (GMT)
Let's see...I have several. First and foremost, is Puppy. My "Pound-Puppy-Newborn-Baby-Boy" ..I think that's the phrase that went along with it. I got him around..my 6th birthday. His nose is crooked, and one eye is faded more than the other, but I love him to death. I always used to talk to him and pet him when I was younger. Now, if it's late at night and it's been a particularly tough day, I STILL talk to him and ask him for advice.

Hm...another would be this Dalmation stuffed animal, that my mom had got for me when I was at K-Mart with her and my Aunt Millie once. The stuffed animal reminds me of my Aunt.. she was more my grandmother than my own grandmother, who at the time was in the beginning stages of altheimers(sp?).

Thirdly, my manga collection. I know, I know..it's silly...but it's like they take me into another world. Something I'd rather get from a japanese book rather than an english fantasy book. Strange...But I treat those with kiddie fingers. That reminds me, I need more manga..... Er, anyways.

I have other special things to me, different stuffed animals given to me by different friends that I'm no longer in touch with. I also have a clump of fur that I had brushed out of our American Eskimo before we gave her away. So that's special to me, because from time to time, I still miss her.

currently:

iPod
Cell phone
Lap top
Camera
Sport Gear
Clothes?
&& my whole collection of notes/pictues from IL, my real home.

ShinLi - May 26, 2006 09:38 AM (GMT)
It's more about something unique you own, not iPod's, because I have an iPod as well. I mean, something special that I own is that ring that was my grandmother's, that's something unique. Almost everyone has an iPod, Laptop, Camera and Clothes, there is nothing special or unique about that, this thread is not about what favouried/most prized posession is, but what the most unique or special thing is you own.

Sorry, but I really thought I had to say this XD

Hogwarts Unleashed - June 2, 2006 08:11 PM (GMT)
My cow collection is pretty special to me. I collect cows from anywhere I go, no matter what it is. I have a cow for just about anything. I have a cow cookie tin, a cow jewelry box, christmas ornament, flashlight, stress ball, music box, and then a bunch of stuffed cows. I have like 27 I think.

Alex Thropp - June 29, 2006 10:44 PM (GMT)
My computer... it's lightning fast.

Supermans.Lover - July 10, 2006 11:35 PM (GMT)
Well, my Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman Season 1 box set. I bought it not that long ago, but I used to watch Lois & Clark all the time when it showed on TBS.

And also my collection of old soda bottles. ((Yes, the really old ones, like 1940's Coke bottles))

Jessica - July 11, 2006 03:41 AM (GMT)

RiverClan_ - July 12, 2006 11:05 PM (GMT)
Let's think.

First, my teddy, Pastel. He plays a lullaby. My aunt got him for me the day I was born.

Second is my grandfather's prayer card. He died when I was about 3 or 4. My mom had about 10 of them, and she gave me one when I was 11.

Third is my postcard collection! Whenever I go somewhere worth getting a postcard, I get two. I have a bunch.

Fourth, lastly, is my Buffy collection. I have 4 seasons right now, and each costed abou $50. I paid for them all with my own money, and I'm going to get the rest after I buy my computer. :P

ShinLi - July 13, 2006 10:19 AM (GMT)
I still have to post a picture of that wooden box thing. At the moment I'm painting my room and my Camera is at Nikon for reparing, when I'm done with painting, I'll make a cool picture of it ^_^.

Insomnium - July 15, 2006 02:40 AM (GMT)
I now own this really awesome huge old-looking sort of African style trunk that was cheap because it had a few small scratches and the latch was missing. But it looks great and I love it! It has two drawers on the bottom of it and a lot of space inside of it! It's sooo cool and I'm sooo proud of it!

thoushaltkissme - August 2, 2006 04:50 AM (GMT)
The special-est thing I own? Probably that picture of me, Katherine Heigl, and TR Knight. :-D Oh that was a fun night. Sneaking up onto a balcony where they were smoking.

AHHH. Best night of my life.

Cliché. - August 2, 2006 09:22 PM (GMT)
Hm. I would have to say, my KISS clown doll. I've had it since I was three; my mom bought it for me when she went to see them live. Since she passed away, it's the only thing I have to remember her by.

Top Kirby - August 8, 2006 08:52 PM (GMT)

I must say my most prized posession is my laptop. I probably couldn't live without it because i'm on it like all of the time.

Shadephantasm - September 5, 2006 07:13 PM (GMT)
Well, I have this little bat finger puppet that somehow became my comfort item last night. I was having trouble sleeping because nightmarish visions that popped into my head whenever I closed my eyes, so eventually I grabbed the bat puppet for no real reason. I began stroking its head, and eventually I fell asleep. I also talked to it a little (yeah, I know, talking to inanimate objects... ).
So, right now, that bat seems pretty important to me.

Kenren - October 16, 2006 06:41 AM (GMT)

My most interesting/special thing I own is my guitars I love them and my mom got me them so they have special meaning to me. I'm also aiming to be a musician so they are special that way too =)

Cammi - November 14, 2006 11:08 AM (GMT)
 hmmm

one; would have to be my pink teddy bear. He's a little worn and tattered now, but he's always in my room. If it's on top of the t.v. or against the pillows on the bed. It was my first teddy bear ever. I love him very much :laugh.png His name (I was young when I called him this) is Teddyama.

two; My great granddad's wedding ring. It's just a plain gold band, my great pa died when I was two years old. And being the oldest out of all the great grandchildren I got it ^_^ I always wear it on my thumb (It's a little big for the other fingers lol)

three; My three photo albums and scrap book. All the photo's of family, friends, animals I like, places i've been and people i've met are in there. So basically, it's my life in snapshots.

Four; and last of all, my note and art books. In these, I have my tattered stories, and line of thoughts that i've dribbled down at three in the morning waking up from a vivid dream. My art books are also something like that, characters, places, things from dreams and interesting things i've seen and just general drawings.

and of course, my Ipod :clown:

Galmond - November 15, 2006 08:50 AM (GMT)
Most special things I own would probably be my sword and armour collection. In total, I have seven swords (plus three cheap ones), three which are replicas from the Lord of the Rings movies, and one from the movie "Kingdom of Heaven". I have four helmets, three from the Lord of the Rings, including Saurons, and one that has yet to ship from the Movie Kingdom of Heaven. I also have a shield, and a gauntlet. So those are my most interesting items I own:)

Cheers,
Galmond.

hmmm... I think that would be the necklace I'm wearing. My grandpa gave it to me before he died. It has a gold chain, a princess cut saffire in the center, surounded by fire opals. Its very pretty, I hardly ever take it off.
