Title: Characters Looking For Home
Description: HP, history, fantasy (long post sorry)

Vildea - September 14, 2008 06:01 PM (GMT)
See, I’m currently a member of one roleplay and I’d like to add maybe one or two more to that count, however, I do have some characters that I’ve wanted to play for awhile. You’ll find short bio’s of sorts at the end of the request form. However, I don’t have to play any of these characters, but it’d certainly be a plus if I could.
I should also warn you that this is going to be a long post, sorry!

Genre: Harry Potter, (Urban or High) Fantasy, Horror, AUs, Historical, I’ve got a strange urge for something with courts/ranks (not the fighting kind of style, more social ranks and classes) (where they actually play a large part in the roleplay) so if you’ve got something really amazing with that type of stuff in it, feel free to ignore everything else and post, I’m really itching for something like that xD
Difficulty: I can easily type out 500 words per post, that’s a regular post for me, but I don’t want to be forced into writing 1000-1500 words per post even if I can.
Type(s) of Creature(s): Just about anything (take a look at the characters I’d love to play further down though, but I am open to just about anything anyway)
Preferred Rating: Meh, I like PG-13 and up, I like warnings, don’t mind mature threads, do like to be able to swear even if I don’t do it often.
Preferred Number of Members/Activity: I’m not looking for a place where I have to post 1-4 times a day. I’m currently at school and roleplaying at another roleplay so I want to feel stressed because I have 34 seconds left before I need to post something.
Preferred Time where RPG is set in: Don’t care, not too fond of spaceships, aliens and alien probing, other than that I don’t have any specific requirements.
Other Notes:
Okay, so this is the part of the form were I get long-winded and boring (maybe) and were you’ll be wanting to press the “back”-button. Think I’m kidding? Just wait and we’ll see.

Anyhow, I mentioned at the very start that I’d love to play certain characters. Mind you though, I’m not necessarily looking to play all of them at once in one roleplay or all of them in several roleplays. I’d love to get the chance to play some of them, but if you feel you’ve got a roleplay that I’d really like, even if my characters wouldn’t fit in, you can always PM me (or post here, whichever you like =)) about it and tell me why your roleplay is so great that I just got to join it :) Also, I can change these characters around to fit quite a few genres and worlds, which is why I didn’t want to be too specific. This includes names and family background (i.e. Leonore, Catherine and Therese doesn’t have to be siblings and they can have other siblings instead) In addition, the personality and notes section is mostly me thinking out loud so I’m not necessarily expecting to see them in those exact circumstances, just giving examples of how they’d be etc. =)

Anyways, let’s get started:
Name: Catherine Stockwood
Age(s):
Harry Potter: 11-17, 20-27 (Preferably 15-17 or 25-27)
Other: 20-35 (Preferably 27-35)
Personality: Catherine’s the rebellious sibling, she will fight for her own or other people’s rights and she’s outspoken and vibrant. She’s also a very caring person who loves her family greatly even if they don’t agree with her, closest to her are her siblings even though they may not have much in common or spend much time together. She can be blinded by her ideals and can be seen as a hypocrite because she can end up doing things that goes against her personal believes (cause no harm etc.) She might be seen as a mindless pawn, a naive girl, a dreamer, a woman rebelling against anything simply to rebel etc.
Notes: Catherine is originally the sister of my oldest character, Leonore, and so she was originally supposed to be a witch. However that’s hardly a requirement for me to play her, I don’t want to play her as someone incredibly strong though, so I wouldn’t want to play her as the strongest demon or something like that. Heck, I’ll gladly play her as a human. As far as class go (rich, poor etc.) I don’t mind either and can generally fill in whatever you need I’d think (except maybe males :p Sorry!) She might be the unwilling participant in an arranged marriage or a poor woman forced to work and act nice around a bunch of big-headed nobles to earn money.

Name: Therese Stockwood
Age(s):
Harry Potter: 11-15, 21-24 (preferably 13-15 or 23-24)
Other: 22-26 (preferably 23-25)
Personality: Unlike Cath, Therese doesn’t seem to have a rebellious bone in her body, instead she’s more likely to sit idly back while people’s homes are burned down and wonder why her servants haven’t brought her her tea yet. She’s more concerned about her and her family’s image than anything else, no matter how bad the situation in her family might be, Therese would never ever willingly disgrace it by going against it. (At least now knowingly, or so she says anyway)
Notes: Therese is the younger sister of Cath, and has been both the older and younger sister of Leo. She could be a woman with much power, but would require (and want) someone else to tell her what to do with it, so she’s a lot like a powerful mindless puppet. She can also be void of any powers, but she’d still be a rather pretty and well-bred type of girl I’d think, or at the very least she’d want to be a well-bred girl. She’s not the sharpest of people and really doesn’t want to concern herself with anything conserving politics unless she has to (“It’s mighty boring and I much prefer solving a crossword”)

Name: Leonore Stockwood
Age(s):
Harry Potter: 11-15, 18-23 (Preferably 11-13 or 18-21)
Other: 18-21 or 19-32 (Preferably 19-20, 19-25 or 27-31)
Personality: Leonore looks after herself first and foremost, and if she can secure herself by selling out her best friend, she will. She isn’t trustworthy and she stays out of the limelight as much as possible, if she has power she wouldn’t concern herself with politics because she wouldn’t want to have someone wage war on her. If she didn’t have much power she wouldn’t care because there’s little for her to do to change things, and it’d probably just hurt her if she tried to change things anyway. She’s paranoid and believes someone or something is out to get her and jumps at the smallest movement or sound. She lives in her head most of the time.
Notes: Leonore’s my oldest character, and I really don’t see her as someone high up in any food chain, she’d probably be human in a fantasy roleplay and a peasant in an historical roleplay, although she probably could find a place where she held more power. She’s not the least bit interested in romance, loves her books and loves learning new things, despises almost anyone and doesn’t want to belong to anyone, but if it’ll keep her out of harm’s way she’s not above joining up with someone (and probably stabbing them in the back when a better offer is proposed)

So, I was supposed to add two other characters to this list, and I still might, but the ones I truly want to roleplay are Therese and Catherine, that said I’ll repeat what I said earlier: If you think you’ve got something I might enjoy, feel free to share :) I’ve got lots of other characters looking for a home so if I fall in love with the site don’t be too surprised if you see me there =)

Also, if there’s something I’ve been unclear about, or that you’re curious about, feel free to ask :) I really don’t want to be a demanding diva, I’m looking for interesting roleplay and a nice community first and foremost so if there’s something you want to know about my characters (or me) don’t hesitate to ask =) I’m relatively friendly most days.

And again, I'm sorry that the post is so danged long! This is my fourth re-write of the thing -_- Though, feel free to smash me over the head with a beer bottle if it makes you feel better (Well, actually, don't do that, it's painful <_<)

So, I might have something for you. :pink: My website Dreaming Out Loud is a multi-game site with a Harry Potter game (only accepting first years right now), as well as an original fantasy set in an Ancient Greece-like world, where the social system is important. I'll post the whole ad instead of the individual game ads, and maybe you'll see something you like. ^_^

Dreaming Out Loud is a multi-game role-playing site; with both fandom and original games, we strive to create a friendly community and have a good time. That's what role-playing is all about, right? Currently, we have four games running: North of the Wall, which is set in the world of Garth Nix's Old Kingdom/Abhorsen series with all original characters; Lost in a Dream, which is set in an original fantasy world; Take the Sky, which is set in the 'verse of Joss Whedon's Firefly/Serenity series with all original characters; Magic is Might, which is set in the world of J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series with all original characters.

The Charter has fallen: the Old Wall and Great stones are broken
and useless, and the Bloodlines had been ended. The Old
Kingdom has been thrust once again into chaos and decay,
and it seems as though Free Magic has claimed the
kingdom once and for all.

But there's about to be a second chance: new Bloodlines are
emerging, mimicking the old, though weaker. If they can
discover the truth- what really happened to usher in an age of
despair- a new kingdom could rise from the ashes of the old.
But will they ever survive North of the Wall?

What if, one night, you went to sleep and woke up in another
world? A world that in its own way is as real as the one you'd
just left; where actions have consequences, where pain and
hunger and joy are all felt. An unbelievable world of gods
and myth and magic.

For some, it's reality; each night as they drift off to sleep,
they awaken in a world that they cannot resist. An ancient
world of mystery and adventure, just waiting for someone
to take up the challenge. Every night, it is their refuge,
their haven, from a concrete world of deadlines and
disappointments. But what happens when you don't want
to wake up? What happens when you'd rather be
Lost in a Dream?

The grisly images of the last sane soul on Miranda being snuffed
out was broadcast throughout the 'verse, and it was something
that could not be forgotten. Try as the Alliance might, it could
not be swept under the proverbial rug. The questions began-
was the Alliance really responsible for the tragedy of Miranda,
the abomination of the Reavers?

Whatever the truth is, tension is brewing in the Alliance. Crime
rates in the central planets are rising, and Alliance control in
many planets has virtually deteriorated. In all of this, there
are still those who are unsure. They do know one thing for
sure: no matter what else- their sanity, their lives, their rights-
the Alliance can't Take the Sky.

Growing up isn't easy- and despite what some might think,
magic doesn't make it easier. At Hogwarts School of
Witchcraft and Wizardry, a new year has begun, and the
newest set of students faces their greatest challenges yet:
homework, professors, and making friends- oh yeah, and
surviving Peeves. Some things never change.

But outside the secluded, isolated walls of Hogwarts castle,
something is brewing in the wizarding world. The Daily
Prophet reports a break-in at the Department of Mysteries,
only no one will say what is missing. And speaking of
missing- word on everyone's lips is that two prominent
Aurors have vanished, and another has mysteriously lost
his ability to do magic. For the students of Hogwarts, and
the rest of the wizarding community, one fact is becoming
very clear: Magic is Might.

Some facts about Dreaming Out Loud:
  • All games are focused on original characters.
  • We're an account-per-player board.
  • Two more games are coming soon- an original horror & an original real-life!
  • We're super friendly, and the games are built so that new characters won't get overlooked.
  • Members can submit and run their own games on our board.
  • Come give us a look, you know you want to!

I can see any of those characters working in my rpg, Chasing the Storm. Most easily I can see them as part of the human resistance which is a huge group involved in bringing down the ‘man’, lol. Your characters look great and I would love to rp with you so if you want to have a look, our ad is below and I am happy to answer any questions you have.

The world is caught in a vicious cycle, and left to
the new generation are the sins of the past.
Out of greed and sloth, a new enemy was born.
The dragons rose from beneath the earth, woken
to find their own murdered for reasons unknown.
Their wrath destroyed the world, leaving humanity
with only one hope for salvation.

Considering themselves the new master race, Psionics
took their proper place as the reluctant protectors of humanity.
Equally powerful, the dragons and Psionics fought for years.
Each coming to a standstill, neither gaining any ground.
Using forgotten labs, experiments were created, designed
to take over the fight.

While the children of humanity were being born as second class citizens,
treated as little more than slaves to the people who saved them,
a small group fought for freedom. With too many failed attempts
and spies in their midst, their only prayer is to find allies among Dragons,
the Suwani people and their clever nésemóono.
Allies that could potentially change everyone's fate.

It is a weak world in a flux of change.

Just remember,

No one is safe - everyone is at risk.

Hi there! I, humbly of course, think that we may be a perfect match for you if you are into alter reality HP.

Genre: Alter-reality HP - and, we do have the social status component. With Dark Lords controlling both Continental Europe and England, there is a strict social structure among Death Eater ranks and other blood status ranks. Certain ranks are allowed certain areas, there are curfews and such things are watched closely.
Difficulty: we consider ourselves intermediate to advanced, mostly in the components of rp. We don't micromanage post length - we expect members to be able to respond maturely and creatively to the unexpected twists and turns rp is known for. Our average post lengths are between 4 and 6 paragraphs but there are members who post much more and those that post less, but we don't stress over post lengths. It's about fun, not writing an essay.
Type(s) of Creature(s): Anything found in HP-verse with room for mythology from other places
Rating: We don't censor our member's writing, but if the post content could be considered offensive, we request it be marked as such and, if necessary, hidden from general viewing.
Number of Members/Activity: Currently, we have about seven to eight individual members (with multiple characters) who are active almost daily. We have about another 8-10 members who are active but not always on daily. Most of our members are older and work or are in college, so they do have lives. We aren't teeming and are cozy and welcoming. You'd find threads easily enough.
Time RPG is set in: We are set in the book's sixth year.

Other Notes:

As far as I can tell, your characters could fit quite nicely into our world in either their current state or with slight modifications, if you chose. We have both adult and student characters, so you could choose where you'd want them to be, age wise. There is, definitely, plenty of room for rebels. Catherine could be at school and help organize a student resistance movement that's in the works. Or, she could be directly in one of the older resistance movements. She could also play it safe and just be a well-behaved but still rebel girl. In our class structure, if she is high class, there are arranged marriages, so a lot of the components in that character could be used or worked into a future plot. All in all, I can see the whole family working well in our world with those dynamics for individual members. I'd be more than happy to discuss more possibilities with you, as well.

There is plenty of rping to be had and we are a friendly, welcoming group. While I should stop bothering with this analogy since no one has heard of the movie, our site is somewhat of a HP meets the Philidelphia Experiment II. I kind of keep using it in the hopes that, one day, someone will understand it.

In our world, an agent of Voldemort's was sent back in time and eliminated Albus Dumbledore's parents. In a world without Dumbledore, Grindelwald's rise to power was uncontested following world war II. Later, Voldemort's ascension in England was successful in his first attempt. The wizarding race is no longer a secret and the magical world rules in Europe and England. Muggles are enslaved, muggleborns either find hiding and refuge or are exterminated - as are the 'tainted' muggles that produced them. The Death Eaters are highly structured and are the primary law enforcement. There are pockets of resistance groups that are quite the breeding ground for insurgents. With the power struggle between the "two dark lords" Grindelwald and Voldemort, there is plenty of room for a espionage, backstabbing and other subversive activities.

We are a mature and dark site, and we have little of the teenagy angst that are a frequent component of school based HP sites. Our site is steeped in the canon world of Harry Potter but has its own extensive backstory and lore. We are open to ideas, inspirations. The signature below will link you to the site if you are up to taking a look (and I hope you are) and, if you have any questions, you can feel free to I/M me. I'm also happy to give cliff notes if the amount of information seems more than you want to plow through at once. My logins for AIM/MSN/YIM are in my profile here.

Thanks for looking us over!

Hey there! The Stockwoods would be very welcome at AG. It's an AU post-DH set in the wizarding UK in the fall of 2018, with a focus on original adult witches and wizards. PG-13 (swearing's fine), Intermediate/Advanced, After Graduation is a very active board that has been around for five months, as of today. *Woot!* The basic plot is that many people, magical and non, are disappearing in what's been called the 'apparition bug.' The two reasons for the disappearances are (1) a department of mysteries experimental spell which robs you of your soul and (2) an anarchist terrorist group that is waiting in the shadows. Blood purity is still very much an issue, especially after the Irish Blood revolution which occurred between 2011-2014. Eventually all of these elements are going to collide in a major plot event that spawns an underground magic rebellion. We have a lot of great, friendly members, loads of excellent plottage that ranges from wacky to romantic to political, and overall, I think you'd have a great time! Here's the ad to give you some more info.

"I'm afraid that I cannot share the particulars with you. I work in the Department of Mysteries; you understand. Suffice it to say that we seek to understand the differences between magic and Muggle; moreover, why they are different."

"An Unspeakable? Humor me, are you really trying breed a new race of Super Blast-Ended Skrewts to use in a war against the French wizarding community?"

"The truth of our work is a great deal less amusing."

"I refuse to believe your work is boring. I'm sure you're working on something utterly fascinating, like trying to unlock the mysteries of the human soul."

"...Do you find the human soul fascinating?"

"Well, yes, I suppose I do. It is the very essence of who we are. It transcends death itself. That's what makes the Dementors so utterly terrifying. They weren't just destroying your body, they were destroying your very being. You can exist without a body, ghosts are proof of that...but your soul is everything."

WHEN HOGWARTS ISN'T ENOUGH...

• "I really like the site so far, particularly, the fact that you guys emphasize roleplays over anything else." •

• "I love to role play Harry Potter and this site is just... perfect! I've finally found an active site! Let me tell you I love it already!"  •

• "It takes collaboration to a whole new level." •

• "The admins aren't obnoxious, and they don't push around the members or make them feel like sludge. They constantly make an effort to improve the forum and it seems like every time I log on, I find something new to marvel over." •

• "I love that there isn't one set plot and that not everyone has to conform to fit one plot. You basically have free reign and that makes having a character here that much better. You're not limited to certain qualities. It was easy registering and everyone here is AMAZING. Friendly and inclusive. I feel welcome." •

• "I've never been to a higher level Harry Potter board that is so active! I love it!" •

• "This place is the awesome sh*t." •

I know this has nothing to do with Harry Potter but after reading what you said, I thought you might be interested in what I have to offer. My board is based in the 1700's and is pirate and Navy based so we have ranks there. But if your looking for something of the ranks like civilians(upper class , middle class , lower class) that sort of thing, we have that too. You could play either a governor or Ranking officer, or even a spawn of one of these that have some class of importance. Our civilian class is open for anything you have to offer and you might be interested in that. If you want to check us out your free to do so. I'm open to any suggestions you might have and am more than willing to answer any questions you might have concerning the site. I look forward to seeing you around if you choose to join.

I think any of your characters would be suited to Corus. We're a medieval-esque forum (technically based on the Tortall fandom, but prior knowledge isn't required, nor requested) with a limited fantasy element - no creatures running about, but you may come across the occasional mage. The time period lends itself to the traditional nobility vs. commoner class division, and while I'm pushing for the latter for the sake of balance, we always accept all character types, all the time (Though there are ways around this - Therese is the servant-having type? Why not a wealthy merchant family situated in Unicorn? I like finding nifty ways to get around these things >=]).

As far as activity is concerned, we're a laid-back bunch. This isn't to say that we're a freakishly slow forum, mind. We all feel the burdens of school, work, and extracurriculars, and are quite content with the reasoning that reality comes before TEH INTERWEB, and so won't kill you if it takes you a while to reply - provided you offer us the same chance at life XD

And now I've really nothing left to do but say we're a lovely bunch, offer you some cookies, post the advertisement, and be on my way. Feel free to drop me a PM if you've any questions.

Especially bizarre, random questions. I like those.

200 years have passed since the immortals were sealed away.  In the generations to follow, they exist only in tales to amuse the children of kingdoms such as Tortall.  The country's capital, Corus, is filled with citizens from all walks of life, each living, from day to day, as well as they can manage - some more legally than others.

The palace is abuzz.  Not only has one of the Conté princesses become betrothed, but her Carthaki fiancé has come to Corus – for all that the wedding is half a decade away.  With him have come banquets, balls, a tournament, and scores of newcomers, from courtiers to slaves.  Not all of the visitors, however, have arrived to wish the couple well; any good spy knows the best time to move in.

Too, mages bring bad news.  Suggestions of a poor harvest come autumn leaves city residents unsure which would be worse: higher taxes in order to pay for food imports, or a winter starvation.  With such uncertainty in the air, many have begun to turn to the Court of the Rogue for help – but at the moment, the Rogue isn’t the happiest of places, either.

Outwardly, the country is at peace.  Inwardly, though, old prejudices die hard.  While the war with the Yamani Islands has since ended, the Yamani who make their home in Corus still face residual bitterness, making a hard life even harder.  Word of skirmishes along Tortall’s southern border reaching the streets has the potential to create another public enemy, Mithros slay any resident who suggests the true enemy might lie within the city’s walls.

In a place such as this, everything can change at a moment’s notice, and never shall any day be ordinary in
CORUS

Ooh, I have a Regency era! Which has bunches to do with social classes and ranks and all the properness and rigidness of society at the time. Okay, anyway, it's a Jane Austen based RP, though it's okay if you haven't read the books/seen the movies (quite a few members have only seen the movies, and some haven't even done that. =) ) There isn't a huginormous board wide plot, but there are some sub-plots and stuff. We'd love to have you and your characters sound like they'd fit in well. First Impressions

Oooh options, me loves! I'm reading through your posts (and your forums) and they all have something about them that's enticing, so this is going to be hard! :) Thanks for your time, I'll shackle down and take a closer look at each of you before I make up my mind.

I'm still open to suggestions, no reason to make my choice any easier huh? :p

Again, thank you for taking the time :) *Stretches and starts her reading*

Each might somehow be able to fit in on Dark Desires, but you can always take a look at it and see if you think the same :)

The Lord of Darkness, Dracula, seems to be impossible to kill. In the year 2007 he rose from the dead once more, and with just one thing in mind - revenge over the God who denied him death so long ago, and the mortals who have been hunting him for centuries. Now, in 2008, the Dragulian Empire is for the first time truly expanding, with many countries submitting to vampire rule... and with the help of blood from a Witch born with Dracula’s blood – Charlotte Heller, granddaughter of Abraham Van Helsing – the Vampires are rising like never before, even able to have children, and walk in daylight. But not even the Lord himself is safe in these new dark times, where more Vampires seem to want a piece of the world. Dark Desires is inspired by the movie Dracula 2000 (but not the sequels), but also referring to many other myths about the greatest living vampire of all times. It is a good idea to have seen the movie, but not a requirement to be a part of our world.

Join us in the new dark times, that are certainly increasing – be a part of the new world which our Lord of Darkness is trying to create. New threats are lurking around every corner, every night, and who knows what will happen if someone try to remove Dracula from his throne – which happened only just. What shall you be in this recently chaotic world, if not a simple Human or one of the Vampires? Perhaps you’d be a Token, supporting the Vampires in their quest for perfection? Or maybe the opposite, a Slayer, trying to restore order in the lately chaotic world? Dark Desires contains a wide variety in characters, and is in general a very friendly community, welcoming even the more odd character types. There is much to see and explore, especially with the world coming close to a change it has not seen for centuries. If you long to know, then the only remaining question is not if, but when you will give in to your Dark Desires?

I bring you more. :D

oh yes we're on our own and
THERE'S NOTHING WE CAN DO
They taught us to dream.
To believe in an equal society.
Werewolf among us.
Vampires beside us.
Muggles.
Wizards.
Halfbloods.
Together in peace.

The headmaster's daughter is dead.
The headmaster has been fired.
Werrant Pierce has taken control
and he's not a nice little cupcake.
----------------
so we don't need no one like you
TO TELL US WHAT TO DO
Imagine a man stuffed full of the old prejudices
in a position to do something about it.
Imagine being a werewolf, a vampire, or any other halfblood
in what you thought was a safe world.
Imagine that world turning against you - again.

Throw away your hopes for a better life.
To survive, you have to play the right cards to the Ministry.
You can't be friends with the devils they hunt.
Shut your mouth and play the game.
They're watching us entirely too closely.
----------------
we don't refer to the past when
SHOWING WHAT WE'VE DONE
We are not a school just for the rich.

Elenlond - September 15, 2008 02:37 AM (GMT)
Well, you might fit in nicely with Elenlond if you'd be up for an original medieval fantasy Rp. Unfortunately, I can't guarantee you'd be posting 1-4 times a day, as many of our members are currently busy with school (the vast majority seem to be in their last few years of high school, or in university/college). You could, however, qualify one of your characters for a high-ranking social position, as Elenlond does support the leaders of countries and there is a council looking for a few more PCs. We do have the beginnings of a plot at the moment which will eventually encompass these country leaders (but we also need regular ol' people too =)). There's more information on the site, as well as information on our unique abilities system, which allows for full customization of your character, especially with magic. If you're interested, please see below. =)

Elenlond...

A land of mystery, beauty, and power.

In recent times there has been some upheaval as those of the free lands - known as both the Scattered and the Middle Isles - begin to fear the power that the deities exercise over the two main continents, Esiria and Soare. Although no god has endeavoured to conquer the free isles, the people still fear. And there is talk that some have formed groups in Esiria and Soare in support of removing the deities, those who invaded their homeland.

The deities did not choose Elenlond, although they certainly named it. After their original homeland, Mianor, imploded on itself and the world began to devour its own entity, the gods gathered as many of their surviving citizens as they could, pushing them through the largest of the rifts that had begun to form in Mianor. There they travelled, weary from their travels, uncertain of their future.

This time was known as The Great Migration.

It lasted for many weeks - perhaps even months; few kept journals of their journey, and many perished along the way - but eventually, there was an end in sight. The people of the old land plunged into the new and it was named Elenlond. Once they were settled, the people could only breathe:

Our Celestial Haven.

Elenlond has been around for several years, although it recently underwent renovations. Although we sport 60+ members, we are looking for active, dedicated people who will join and help activity to blossom. Our members are friendly, chatty, and we love new people. So, if you're interested, by all means join! We'd love to have you.

I keep coming back to this post and rereading it, then click out going "Nah, she's looking for fantasy, not real life." But finally, I've decided to toss my forum up there for your consideration. So here I go: We started in Rent fandom, post canon, but in the past two years, we've developed into an RL game based in New York which happens to have the canons from that fandom running about. . . You don't need to know a thing about the musical or the movie, since the characters are just characters, nothing more. We're grown up, decent writers, and friendly as can be. Have a look. The banner in my sig's the link.

QUOTE
You're living in America at the end of the millennia. . . and you're not alone.
Alphabet City
We're in the year 1996 and the colorful residents of the East Village in Manhattan are facing the issues which challenge poor Bohemian artists in the mid-90s. Drug abuse, HIV, prostitution, starvation, death, life, and love. However, they find that they aren't alone, friends are all around, and there is always coffee to be drunk, issues to be discussed, and art to be created, good and otherwise. Come join our cast of canon and original characters, featuring a strong sense of community and creativity and find that you're not alone either.
Other notes:Based on the Broadway musical RENT, set post-canon, though slightly AU to keep Angel alive. We have evolved and changed over the past two years from a fandom RP to a RL RP with some fandom characters.  We are lucky to have a great group of OCs who are keeping the plot moving and changing quickly, and we always welcome new writers and OCs with open arms.
We also have a brand new board!  It's pretty and blue and still has that new board smell!!  Come see.  It's pwetty!!!

I know of two sites you might be interested in. One is a HP site, and the other is an "other" site. A sort of horror/fantasy/myth sort of thing. For the HP site, you would probably use the older ages for your characters, since it is a post DH AU HP game, and there are currently no wizarding schools in England anymore. All the character are adults, doing adult things. For the other site, any of the ages will work, and your characters could very well fit in also. I'll post the HP one first. Also, for both, there is no word limit and they are both PG 13 + topics/posts marked.

Are You Ready For This?

"Sir. The woman who returned, Duhig? She's not...normal."
"Normal?"
"Her magic, Sir. It's...gone."
- The Ministry

Squibs were always born. Now they're made. Perfectly healthy wizards are vanishing from the streets, only to return with no magic at all.

"Side effects? What do you mean side effects?" - Megan Broker

"My analysts tell me they are encountering some problems with the tracking chip. Apparently some are causing problems: headaches, migraines, etcetera. One collapsed last week from haemorrhaging...keep your ear to the ground. We may have to intervene." - Charles Decker, Muggle leader of the British National Party

St Mungo's Shock at Sudden Death
- The Daily Prophet

Now these squibs are dying...

"What I can tell you, is her magic levels are off the charts. I don't think even the Ministry doubt the connection, they just want to avoid a national panic by giving all these new squibs a death sentence." - Remus Lupin

...All because Muggles are becoming a problem.

"This pill will stop my hallucinations?"
"Yes. But remember this is not a one-way street, Mr. Chambers. You can show yourself out, can't you? We will contact you when we need you."
- Gideon Chambers; Wizard, meets with Muggles.

Someone is giving Muggles access to the magical world. When the fragile barrier comes apart, when war is waged, which side will you choose?

"Our world is fragile and we have a duty to protect it; a duty to the people who live in it. That's why sometimes we have to do things that seem cruel but we do it for a greater good: The Rabbit Hole, this Task Force, our PM, this is all leading to war against these...Wizards. We're not ready yet but we will be. I consider you an asset to our cause...We provide for one another, don't we? Can I count on you for succour when the time is upon us?" - Charles Decker, Muggle leader of the British National Party

This is not Earth.
There is no savior here, and no one will bleed for your sins.
But they will bleed because of them.

This is A Rage Against Godhood.

Welcome to the Isles of Shorelanei, a realm, a world, created by the torturer of the damned. Upon these shores many have come to rest; the lost seraph of heaven, the first murderer of man, and wandering demons of the abyss. Their children now populate the Isles.

The Demon-Blooded, who were first born.
The Children of Caine, who came second.
The Celestial-Blooded, who were last to be created.
And the Half-Blooded, whose weak lines are a mockery to the pure of blood.

Yet these descendants are not as great as their forefathers. Petty jealousies and hate have hardened their hearts against one another. And when the creator of the Isles is exiled by an ambitious schemer, their world became an ocean of strife and uncertainty. Every day brings new hardships and changes, every event affecting even the most distant of people.

Here, it is all a matter of perception. There is no way of telling which path is right and true. With only your heart, and perhaps your faith, to act as your compass, there is no knowing where you might be led. You can only hope that it is not astray and to the brink of total annihilation. Unless, of course, that’s where you want to go.

It is up to the people as a whole, and not a prophesized hero, to save their world from a bitter end, or destroy a new beginning. Can blood be put aside and these four lines join forces to make a stand against all odds in a world where gods wage war?

How will you shape the future? After all, all beings were created with free will.

On RAGE, we do have a ranks system, but it is more of a caste system than anything else. But which caste your character belongs to does make up for how your character lives and how they are treated.

MelioraAdmin - September 15, 2008 08:45 PM (GMT)
If you're interested in playing these characters in a fantasy setting, I think they may fit in well at Meliora. Our rebellion plot (or even our secret mages' guild) may suit Catherine very well, and you would have the option of playing her as a mage in a variety of situations (eight elements and deities to choose from as well as a more varied approach to magic). Therese could always fit in as a noblewoman of some sort. Connecting her to the royal family may increase her plot potential, but connecting her to Catherine may be plenty depending on what you would do with her. Leonore seems like someone that could get involved in the rebellion plotline on the deity end of things. I can see her aligning herself with one of the deities for protection and such, then abandoning them to side with our god of fate when he regains power (he's a very sneaky, traitorous guy).

Basically the opportunities are endless as long as you're interested in a fantasy game based in a fictional land (similar to Medieval times in terms of technology and such). There's magic, but it can be avoided in most cases (you don't HAVE to interact with mages or be aligned with a deity). It's completely acceptable for characters to be anti-magic (in fact, it's part of the basic rebellion plot). You also have the opportunity to play a variety of races and get into some really cool sub-cultures. We've also got a detailed military hierarchy and lots of powerful positions to take advantage of if that's something you're interested in. . . and don't worry about playing a bunch of female characters. We actually have over twice as many males as females right now. ;)

Also:
-PG-13+ rating
-200 word minimum for posting (not strictly enforced)

Feel free to PM me here if you have any questions. You can also contact me or any of the other members at Meliora through the Cbox or Questions and Suggestions forum (guest-friendly!). I play Dunquareiel, Venea Zephyrius and Riley Black.

Link's in my signature. ;)

Again, many fabulous options for me to choose from, not to mention genres! I've seen a lot of interesting ones here, some that I wouldn't usually consider but they seem very interesting so I'll be giving those a closer look :) Thank you all, they all look very intriguing, I think I've got to make myself a list or something :p I almost miss the good ol'days were I'd have joined each of the sites, they all seem amazing. Sadly I can't, I'm still reading through plots, rules etc. (I've got a LOT to read :D) but I'm pretty darned certain I'll find what I'm looking for in this bunch :)

Thanks again, you've been awesome =D
Now, off to bed and I'll continue my reading tomorrow :)

Emma - September 15, 2008 11:14 PM (GMT)
-snatch- Well, I was just going to post our advert because this keyboard is a Mac and my nails are too long to use it properly xD But then I thought nah, I know Vildea, I'll make this nice for her ^_^

So, sadly, there's not really anything about NMTB that would make it better than any of the other boards posted here. I have been on most of them and they are fantastic. We would definitely welcome you (in a quiet way ^_^) and any of your characters. We are just hitting a plot curve (for the first time in a year) now, so in a few weeks things should be exciting. Maybe sooner, if I can drag my butt to post. We're active (don't let anyone tell you otherwise!) and quiet, with no activity or posting requirements beyond that you tell me if you're going to be away for more than two weeks. You have to expend a little effort to get involved, but chatting in the cbox and pouncing on anyone online for an RP would be about the limit.

Oh! I suppose I should tell you that we're Harry Potter. Heh. Marauder Era and alternate universe, I suppose. We pursue our own course. Not sure where that is going yet. We're application-less but that hasn't stopped everyone who has joined so far from posting a profile before RPing. That option is there if you prefer boards with applications. And I can always minutely criticise your efforts, if you're into that sort of thing xD

That's about all I can think of. You have my IM details if you desperately need to know something that you can't ask in the cbox.

&. not. meant. to. be.

txs - September 16, 2008 03:31 PM (GMT)

A NEW WAR HAS BEGUN
WHICH SIDE WILL YOU CHOOSE?

H O G W A R T S
Hogwarts has always been considered the safest spot in the wizarding world, due to the long-standing protection Albus Dumbledore seemed to instill in the castle walls. For the past few years, it has been dually protected by the watchful eyes of Headmaster Edric Kenton and Headmistress Evelyn Marshall. However, last year, a terrible outbreak in secrets, lies, deception, and dark magic occurred within the castle walls, unbeknownst to the two Heads. A group of kids, ranging from fifteen to eighteen, gathered in the damp, dimly lit basement and formed an alliance against the virtues the magical world has come to accept. A young, blonde-haired boy of an ancient pure-blooded family opted to defy the wishes of the magical community's authoritative figures and resumed the role of leader of these future miscreants. Evan Rosier, a former student of Hogwarts, made his stance known to the entire world the afternoon of June 17, 2051. Since that day, nothing has been the same. Hushed whispers have become the glue of Hogwarts, binding those involved to the secrets they keep for years to come. Now separated by secret alliances, the students have turned against one another and have involved themselves in the biggest war to plague the world in over fifty years.
O U T S I D E W O R L D
Blatant attacks against the muggle world and the general community have followed since that fateful graduation ceremony. Ever since Evan Rosier turned his wand against the Headmistress of Hogwarts, the community has been well aware of the fact that caution is the only protection they have against the dangers of the world around them. While the Followers began as a small, "extracurricular activity" within the castle, it has now greatly expanded since Evan Rosier has entered adulthood. Now, the man has no limit as to where he can take his power. The entire community has been infiltrated by the wrath of the latest social deviants, no stone left unturned and no spot left untouched.

Within the Ministry, it would seem that the war has truly come to life. Rosier, having been employed by the Ministry due to his familial connections, has somehow resisted arrest and roams with ease throughout the corridors. The Minister of Magic, Sebastian Morden, doesn't know what to do with himself, as there's little that can be done to prevent the infiltration of Followers within the walls of the Ministry, a once sacred place within the community. Rather than enforcing the law, it would seem that the Ministry's workers have been breaking it. However, the courage of one woman, a woman destined for greatness, could be the change of all that has been destroyed within the past year. An Unspeakable within the Department of Mysteries, Luca Dumbledore has always known how to remain discreet. Her formation of the New Order, a move seen as following in the footsteps of her grandfather, the late, great Albus Dumbledore, has provided hope for those extended an invitation. Finally, the light has found a savior in the form of a young woman, whose passion and persistence could very well carry them through the war and towards success.

While one might think that the world's top priority might be capturing Rosier once and for all, it would seem that their attention has been momentarily directed towards the escape of infamous murderess, Mackenzie Pierce. Juggling so many things at once, the Ministry has allowed one extremely crucial detail to escape their notice ...
P U R U S
As if infiltrating Hogwarts wasn't enough, Evan Rosier has gone above and beyond the expectations of his loyal followers. He has created an escape for those 'imprisoned' by the limitations of Hogwarts; Purus Academy. Having personally invited the Headmistress, herself, to run the school while he focuses on the bigger picture, Giana Mulciber, a notorious werewolf, has assumed the role of mentor to the able-bodied Followers invited to learn at the ever-prestigious school. Cold-hearted, bitter, and brutal to the core, she is to train the hand-picked crop of kids invited to attend the school everything they will need to know to one day join the 'arm' that has become Rosier's following. And the best part is, the Ministry can't do a damn thing about it.
LIGHT THE MATCH AND I'LL STICK AROUND

It all began in 1692. There was so much death and destruction that families were torn apart, and neighbors became suspicious of each other. Many began to see the ruin humans could cause and fled the countries and cities of their youth in search of haven elsewhere. Some found their way to St. Anthony’s Island and the town of Little Salem.

Those who were considered mythical beings joined together for protection and survival and so began the Treaty of Three, a treaty designed to protect the humans as well as the vampires, the werewolves and the witches.

The rules were simple enough: no harm was to come to any human; no human should ever learn the existence of these groups; and no member of the treaty was to purposely hurt another member of the treaty. Any violation of these rules meant death for all those involved.

Well, strange humans with the hell-bent intention of making myths extinct have begun arriving on the island. A vampire belonging to the more peaceful of the bloodsuckers’ families has been murdered, and found alongside an innocent human. And the Treaty has been broken by the ‘child’ of one of its original creators.

A war has been brewing beneath the guise of peaceful efforts, and things are about to explode. You’re not going to want to miss the next boat to

In the mists of time, long before Saetan was called to make his legend in the realms, wearing the darkest of jewels, the Black. Long before he used that power to rub the entire territory of Zuulman out of existence. Long before the coming of the most powerful witch to walk the realms. The dark weaving of Mother Night calls you from the comfort of the Darkness to bring you forth into a world of light and conflict.

In the glaring Light you see edges and differences that had no meaning in the Darkness, differences in race and social status, leading to conflict with ones self, your neighbors, sometimes all the world. You have been born into a world where violent emotions of hate, fear, jealousy and anger, especially anger, can erupt for the smallest offense.

You are Blood. Mother Night has given you more, a caste and the ability to wear a jewel. Your caste and jewel are yet more means to differentiate you from your peers and bring more hate, jealousy and delicious anger. Yes delicious anger, for your jewel can channel your anger into power, power to strike your enemies and power to frighten your friends. It is indiscriminate, cold, and dark, the darker the more powerful and frightening.

Simply by being Blood you are dangerous to all around you, everyone sensitive to the chill in the air that announces one of the Blood tapping into the dark depths of their jewel. It is the calm, cold, still moment before all that anger and dark power erupts upon the world in dark violence destroying all that are not protected by the power of an even darker jewel. There is no jewel darker than the Black. When Blood wearing Black go cold all you can do is summon your courage. There is no place you can run to, no one to whom you can pray. You have to summon the courage to take the anger that fuels the Black away, to lead the Blood gone cold from the killing edge.

It can't be all anger, hate and conflict that the Light offers, for Mother Night could not be so cruel to call you to a world so harsh as to offer only pain. The jewels gifted to the blood respond to, enhance and violently manifest all emotions not just the destructive ones. Blood will sing to Blood, jewels will sing to jewels, lords will sing to witches and Princes will sing to Queens, the darker the Blood and the jewels the more violent the passion and the more beautiful the song.

What will be your song? Will be a song of pain full of the wild notes of war, conflict and death? Will it be a song of celebration strong enough to stir the ancient hearts of the dragons still rumored to live in the realms, thanking them for the gifts they bestowed to the Blood? Will it be a song of sorrow, a keening howl or mournful dirge, deep and dark enough to blunt the edges and ease the anger? Will your song call to all the Blood of the ages resonant with a violent joyful power, transformative to all it touches and born from the deepest love?

Somewhere a weaver of dark webs calls the silken strands of joy, pain, sorrow and celebration left in your passing and the passing of all the Blood. Black strands of the darkest power fitted one to the other into the darkest web, forming the shape of a dream, and one day that dream will be made flesh, calling Witch to the realms.

Welcome into the world. Welcome to the Darkest Web.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

The Darkest Web is a mature, advanced role-playing board based off of Anne Bishop’s Black Jewel Trilogy. In a time of blood and tribulation, we are forging our own tales about the men and women that make up the Blood Race. Romance, war, and scandals fill up the pages of our book as we tell the stories of those that could become legends. The Darkest Web has been an active board for two years now, and we plan on being around for many more to come. We have wonderful administration team and very active players. We are always looking for new players and new ideas. We would love to have you.
