Okay, so I clean up after people basically. It's a voluntary effort, but I hate it... How can I do something I hate? Simple, because I love something else more, and that is nature.
So anyway, after the town festival the town actually got trash cans situated all around the park that I normally visit and there are still stray wrappers everywhere and litter of all kinds.
Styraphoam cups, gum, cigarrettes (bout had a field day when I saw someone come in on a motor bike, smoke one of those things, throw it on the ground and then leave) etc... you get the point... in fact there are a lot of things I probably shouldn't have touched lest I get aids or something.
Anyhow these kids got off school because it was labor day... Well that morning they're at the park and see me. Oh boy how I don't like what happened next. When I come back later on a "Enjoy the nice day only" jaunt, they (oh dear, one of them actually knows me... punched me in the jaw three years ago) all decide to start pointing out trash on the ground and running up to me forcing me to throw it away. First, I humored them, then ignored them as they swore at me and threw cans at my head. I'm not very strong, or at least I don't think I am, but even if that wasn't my reason for duking one of them, I am too old just because I turned 18 this year.
Anyway as they purposely follow me around I decide to pretend that they're invisible and walk straight through a kid, not bothering to slow down. The effect was exactly like in those video games where you're literally pushing the NPC to another position of the floor.
Anyway, I've had the cop go sort them out, but I'm not sure it worked, because there is still an emmese load of crud I don't feel like picking up. What am I alloud to do? How can I show I am in charge, and how far can I go to make sure they don't cross me without getting put in jail/prison?
(Heh... my new rule is whatever gets left behind and unclaimed gets thrown away. Today I found a sandle, two pairs of shirts and a basketball. Everything except the basketball was thrown out. The ball, of course, I hid somewhere they will never find it.)
That's a good question. But to them I would have probably said something to the effect of "At least I'm doing something constructive with my time and trying to help my neighborhood. What are you doing to make a difference exactly?" Some people live to ruin your day. Don't let them <3
Don't let them get you down. You're the one who's doing something useful and constructive, that you can be proud of.
They're just losers who won't ever amount to much.
Your entitled to shoot those litterbugs with a bb gun. *nod gravely*
But seriously, kudos to you for doing whats right! Since you dont really get the praise/thanks you deserve, I thought I'd let you know. I'm impressed by those who go out of their way for the earth.
*applauds*
Thanks, Mac, Sharpie and Akala.
I just hope I don't lose sight of why I'm doing it in the midst of all the depression I was starting to feel. But now I feel better and I hope to give an extra 20%.
