How about taking a look at Closer?

We're a modern real life game, set in the fictional town of Bishop City, North Carolina, which is full of corruption, but there is hope for the future. There's an election coming up, that will decide how things will move forward, and the outcome of this... it's up to the players.

Anyway, here's our ad:

C L O S E R

Bishop City, a place where corruption and crime thrive under a leadership that is so crooked, it’s a miracle it's still standing. For years, this corrupt leadership has ensured that the city has remained informally divided into four: West Side, where the powerful and wealthy settle down and build their families, North End, where the young businessman can climb the corporate ladder, South End, where the average Joe lives his average life on an average salary, and East Side, the realm of crime, violence and poverty, where every day is a struggle to survive. It is not an ideal situation...in fact, it is the exact opposite, but that is today's situation in Bishop City, and it is the way it has been for many years. But there may very well be change on the way...

While the four mafias of the city are stepping dangerously close to war, the people of Bishop City prepare for the upcoming election, which may set in stone what future the city faces. It is a chance to rid of the old - the corrupt leadership of Mayor Ian Anderson - and replace it with a new, possibly one determined to change the city for the better, someone who can make a change in every citizen of Bishop City's life? Or perhaps it will go the other way, and "the new" will be an ever greater evil, which will ensure a formal division of the city for all days to come. The criminals have already chosen their candidate - the one who will benefit them the most - but the criminals are greatly outnumbered. It is in the hands of the people that the power still sits; the power to mould tomorrow. Amidst all this corruption in crime, there is a bright light shining. Is there still hope for Bishop City? Only time will tell.

Well, I have an original fantasy game that you might be interested in. Lost in a Dream is one of three games (soon to be four) at my two week old multi-game rpg site. Come take a look!

What if, one night, you went to sleep and woke up in another
world? A world that in its own way is as real as the one you'd
just left; where actions have consequences, where pain and
hunger and joy are all felt. An unbelievable world of gods
and myth and magic.

For some, it's reality; each night as they drift off to sleep,
they awaken in a world that they cannot resist. An ancient
world of mystery and adventure, just waiting for someone
to take up the challenge. Every night, it is their refuge,
their haven, from a concrete world of deadlines and
disappointments. But what happens when you don't want
to wake up? What happens when you'd rather be
Lost in a Dream?

Set in an original fantasy world. One of several games at
Dreaming Out Loud, a multi-game role-playing site.

Board Name: Legends of Man

"Fifteen Hundred Years have passed in the current age of man. The multitude of creatures I have created have come together to live in relative harmony. However, unrest has reared its ugly head. Two families fight for the throne: the Aloch family and the Mon'dia family.

Both families have a long history of conflict. From the moment I created both, I could see the world was not big enough to comfortably hold them all. However, by that time, it was too late for my intervention.

The Mon'Dia have many supporters, and they are popular. A family who base their ruling on the arts, on music, dancing and joy. A beautiful family- but of very little substance. They could not bring themselves to uphold laws.

The Aloch too have their supporters. The Aloch are useful; They are full of ideas and wisdom, and they are resourceful. In their own way, they too are a beautiful family. They ruled with more strength and upheld laws. As can be expected, they are not so popular amongst the criminal element.

Both families fight with force. Both wish to claim the throne. Both claim their right to it. Their hatred for one another has reached a fever pitch, and both families are using their sway to influence my creatures to join the fight. Treason, Murder, Tactics, Military Operations, Espionage. It has grown into a war.

A war for freedom, a war for Illiria, a war for their lives...

This world is not only for those that are human, for my creativity spans far beyond the simple human being. From those who cannot die, to those who are forced to walk the this world cursed to live in death. Those of pointed ear, winged back or beastly heart. All inhabit the earth I created, all live through me..."

fame hides her head in the clouds. but being normal starts here

"" RULES | CANON LIST | FACE CLAIM | ADVERTISE | AFFILIATE ""

so lets say your a celebrity. your living the life nothing can go wrong you know it. but sometimes fame is to much especially if your a teenager you cant make your own mistakes with out the world reading about it the next day. now normal life is looking better and better every day. life in la is looking shittier and shittier as each morning comes and your face is in the papers. what if there was a school that promised normalcy where you can go to school with other celebrity teens and normal teens. where only the celebrities know about the schools secret and the normal kids are there for the schools arts program.

---

so now you have four years to be normal get a part time job make friends that youll keep for the rest of your life although they dont know your really the guy they crushed on from the movie. or the girl they fell in love with. or for that matter who they wish they were. they have no idea what they wish to become is something your running away from and that you wish to have their life.

---

even though your running from hollywood you still have to do premieres, make movies, put out records and interviews. right? or else hollywood would suspect something if 50 teen idols picked up and left right? so even though you've escaped your still pulled back in from time to time and when you go you remember why your in the crappy town in Indiana in the first place. stardom isnt all its cracked up to be.

---

but how long can you stay hidden with out hollywood figuring out where your coming from or for that matter the normal students to figure out that your the guy they have the hots for. and run you out of the school? when you fall in love can you trust the girl to keep the secret? or will she blab to her best friend and the entire town know? would you take her to a premiere? give her a wig and protect her identity? so many questions that will be answered.

Have a look at us too. We started in Rent fandom, post canon, but in the past two years, we've developed into an RL game based in New York which happens to have the canons from that fandom running about. . . You don't need to know a thing about the musical or the movie, since the characters are just characters, nothing more. We're grown up, decent writers, and friendly as can be. Have a look. The banner in my sig's the link.

You're living in America at the end of the millennia. . . and you're not alone.
Alphabet City
We're in the year 1996 and the colorful residents of the East Village in Manhattan are facing the issues which challenge poor Bohemian artists in the mid-90s. Drug abuse, HIV, prostitution, starvation, death, life, and love. However, they find that they aren't alone, friends are all around, and there is always coffee to be drunk, issues to be discussed, and art to be created, good and otherwise. Come join our cast of canon and original characters, featuring a strong sense of community and creativity and find that you're not alone either.
Other notes:Based on the Broadway musical RENT, set post-canon, though slightly AU to keep Angel alive. We have evolved and changed over the past two years from a fandom RP to a RL RP with some fandom characters.  We are lucky to have a great group of OCs who are keeping the plot moving and changing quickly, and we always welcome new writers and OCs with open arms.
We also have a brand new board!  It's pretty and blue and still has that new board smell!!  Come see.  It's pwetty!!!

WELCOME TO DELIRAMENTI ASYLUM
• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •
Despite being a hospital slash mental institute, the weight of death had never really dawned upon the staff of the Deliramenti Asylum until the passing of Dr. William Korsakov. Although the Seattle City Police Department had concluded his death as a tragic accident of natural causes (mainly old age), even the 'saner' staff of Deliramenti could not settle with such deductions. Because clearly, but Dr. Korsakov, like an old habit, was rather die hard. It was so strange and perhaps psychologically disturbing for the staff to have to accept that even men like him were simple human beings, like everybody else. His death had to be a suicide or a homicide. Either way, Korsakov could not have died like everybody else... Right? And so, the medical and psychological staff all pointed fingers at each other, blaming the other for the death of their employer. Friends stuck together, and if there ever were cliques within the Institute, then they had become more strongly defined in structure.

Of course, the other perhaps more 'normal' rumor buzzing about the lounging areas over the steam of scalding hot, insipid coffee was the matter of who would be the next head of this Institute? Of course, James Breckenridge's name was the first name that everybody popped out. He had worked alongside Korsakov the longest, and had successfully worked his way up to the ranks of being the head of the Male Ward. Between himself and Julia Monroe, the head of the Female Ward, Breckenridge had the obvious advantage, given that he was more experienced, and well, although she was a successful and most definitely wanted psychologist, she had been a changed woman ever since the second asylum breakout, six months ago.

Even someone as alone and quiet as Breckenridge obviously gets the rumors through the cracks of his office, and therefore he, too, had anticipated his promotion... Of course, that was only to have it shot down with the mysterious appearance of William Chambers. Coming from London, England, he stepped right into the shoes of Korsakov as if it were his birthright. Of course, people would have questioned this move, except for the fact that even the toughest of the staff were frightened by Chambers' intimidating nature (if they had thought that Korsakov was intimidating, they hadn't seen anything yet), and for the fact that their former employer had left Chambers to take care of business in his own will. The mystery that arises here was that nobody had ever heard of Chambers in their lives. Not even those whom Korsakov had kept dear. Not to mention that a certain James Breckenridge, with his chance of a promotion crushed, seemed oddly... Twisted. Changed, in a way. He wasn't the Doctor that everybody had known before since the appearance of Chambers.

And that was when the first suspicions had started to arise.

As mentioned before, the death of Korsakov was surrounded by mystery. Of course, with Breckenridge's shady behavior, especially with the sudden appearance of Chambers, people started to suspect that it was Breckenridge that had framed Korsakov's 'natural death'. He had the motive, and he had more than enough medical knowledge to, you know, poison him or something and still make his death seem accidental...

The weight of having two major escapes (and no signs of recovery by the escapees who have been contributing to the once again increasing crime rate to the city of Seattle) seems to have harmed Deliramenti's reputation, which, of course, takes its toll on the (mostly) innocent staff of the Asylum. Whatever happened to its good old days of being the most recommended mental institute in the country? Was that not why some of the most talented medical and psychological staff worked here? And what compel them to stay? Reputation or not, there certainly still exists a charm to Deliramenti that keeps the employees getting out of bed every morning.

With a new kind of tension arising within the asylum, not only between colleagues but amongst fellow inmates, and between doctors and their patients, and rumors of Korsakov's suspected 'homicide' spreading, the truth will slowly unwind.

Hi! Abydos might be more Fantasy than you're looking for, but I thought I'd toss it in the batch. Good luck! ^_^

The Abydos Quest is an advanced free-form role playing board for writers interested in cooperative fantasy storywriting. There is a short application (post a writing sample for review - something from another board is perfect). No word minimums, shops, canons, or restrictions - write the stories you want and make the characters you want. The provided fantasy 'world' is extremely large, so there's lots of space for you to be creative!
  • Relatively new board, and small community
  • Only advanced writers accepted. Core members average 700-1500 words/post or more, with good depth, detail, spelling, and grammar (less is fine, this is just an idea of what we're like).
  • All stories are original - there are no set plots or canons. A world with geography has been established for your use, you can create what you will within that.
  • The setting is fantasy - medieval with magic, dragons, knights, etc. Other races/species ok as long as they incorporate into the setting.
  • Most content is PG/PG-13, but there are no word filters.
  • Friendly, active staff who know how to run an RP board.
  • Click here to check us out!

Demon Child - September 8, 2008 08:52 PM (GMT)
We have some creatures form Greek mythology, and some based off of the myths, like Hades for instance. The site over-all rating is PG-13, though some go over that, but they don’t violate the ToS of the board, so all’s good. We have around 100 members, but 20-30 get on every day; so I wouldn’t say it’s so crowded. So far, we fit everything you asked for— Minus the other notes part, but you might not have taste for us; but either or, I hope you find what you’re looking for. ^^

Hello there and welcome to a kingdom deep in your imagination known as Zireling Kingdom, an intermediate and above medieval fantasy site. By intermediate, we simply mean over a paragraph per post, which most of our members do without hesitation or problem. Zireling is set in medieval-like times; meaning there are no cell-phones, pagers, microwaves, or video game consuls, just yourself and anything you can use for protection. Fantasy means unreal, and so Zireling welcomes most magical abilities although not all characters have them—it is completely up to you.

Ever seen a man with wings on his back and a fluffy tail? How about a human-sized elephant walking in the streets? Zireling has limitless races and our dictionary holds only a hand full of them because just about anything you can think up you can role play. So go on and explore your mind, make a race up; it is completely safe and no one will be mad. Even races that became extinct due to slavery or hunting can be renewed thanks to magic and the kingdom itself.

You will role play in the diverse land of Zireling. It ranges from the massive kingdom to other areas of the world; like rain-forests, deserts, frozen mountains, and volcanic lands, not to mention those lands that have yet to be discovered. There is also an underwater kingdom of Illanis that opposes Zireling Kingdom in a silent way, almost unseen by keen eyes. Over time, smaller cities started to appear in Zireling; but none can match the great and original Zireling Kingdom.

Zireling has a regular based year. From spring, to summer, to fall, then winter; no other seasons are out there. Although no cars, cell phones, or any electronic media are around, it does not mean that there could be advances in certain areas so that maybe something may be created. Over time during secret battles against the King some of the opposing sides have created guns. Small in size and a pain to load but they still dealt mass damage to anyone that gets in the bullet’s path.

When you are a guest most of Zireling is hidden and unavailable for you to see. That is not being rude or mean to you, but we would like our members to have some kind of safety and privacy. Once you become a member you will be able to see everything except the staff board; ain't that grand? Not to mention when you become a member you can create your most unique character and have them believe in gods and goddesses if you like. Or perhaps you want to join an occult, organization, or a guild? Zireling is full of fun and possibilities to explore.

This site has been open since January of 2007 and has been growing strong ever since. Sure, this site has had its own ups and downs, but what site hasn't? Zireling is a fun community that would love to have you as a member if you have no problem reading and obeying the rules—as long and annoying they may be they are common sense really. Plots and mini-plots can be created as well as almost anything else. Have a race you want us to add to the dictionary; want a new occupation; need a house or shop for your character? Go on and ask a staff member about it, chances are you’ll get what you want.

If you have imagination and the willingness to join and try to have fun, then you will fit perfectly into Zireling. From magic to royalty; from guilds to weapons; and from you being a simple guest to being an outstanding member, Zireling is waiting for you. Though Zireling has a lot of members to some, do not be afraid; it just makes things more fun. Remember, if you have a question all you have to do is ask and we shall answer. ^^

    We offer here at Zireling:

    • A dictionary of races, occupations, and classes.
    • Many role playing boards.
    • Several skins.
    • A map of Zireling.
    • Lots of contests to partake in.
    • Staff positions available.
    • Friendly and active members.
    • Own sub-plots allowed.
    • Character charts for entertainment.
    • Much, much, more! =)
