Title: Of Poor Scheduling And Dumb Courses
Description: Ew.

I just started my final year of high school, in a semestered system. My frist semester consists of an artsy course, two AP courses, and Sociology. My second semester consists of a free, a techy course, English, and Advanced Chemistry.

When I first signed up for my techy course (Multimedia), the teacher at the time described it as a fun, low-work class that was good for rounding out otherwise challenging courseloads. I actually went to the fifteen minute intro session today, the new teacher had incorporated tests and an exam (previously not included), and described it as challenging and time-consuming. Additionally, said new teacher is an asshole that no one likes.

That's fine. I'm dropping the course, and all is well.

Except the fact that I have two frees second semester, and the school doesn't like that.

So, to make everyone happy, I decided to take Sociology second semester, where I previously had my free, and take the block I had Multimedia as a free instead. This plan works perfectly for me, as I was rather afraid at the prospect of two AP courses, another writing-heavy course, a part-time job, and two forums, with no in-school time to pick up the slack XD

Naturally, because it's a high school and therefore has to make me miserable at some point, the only Sociology course I can take second semester (the other one is in the same block as Chemistry, and the only other block of that is in the only block of AP Geography, so I'm rather stuck there) is full.

I now have three options, none of which I particularly like:
  • Stay with Multimedia.
  • Beg/grovel/kill to get into the full Sociology class, via wait-lists and clever logic >=] The downside to this is that my free period, as a result, would be with one other friend instead of seven, and the friend who could provide transport to and from school (so I could leave for the day at lunch, or sleep in and come late) has it in my current free block.
  • Take another course that I have absolutely no interest in.

The upside to this is that I believe two of my friends have Canadian History the same block I have Multimedia, and that class is still open. The downside is that CH is a grade eleven course (and the elevsies bother me XD), and I don't even need it, as I have an alternate credit in that area so it would just be an elective anyways >.>

So while yes, there are ways out of my mini-hell right now, I'm just generally pissed off that students with APs don't get priority for moving things around and getting frees where they need them, rather than having them randomly scattered. Seriously.
