Title: About As Easy As You Can Get But Oh So Picky

nadja - August 29, 2008 10:17 PM (GMT)
Genre: Pretty much anything! Throw them all at me and I'll let you know what I'm looking for.
Difficulty: Again, anything! Just... I don't want a board full of beginners. My posts average about 500-600 but I can go as high as 1400 words. Anything less than 200 and my muse is gone.
Type(s) of Creature(s): Let your freak flag wave! I'll take anything
Preferred Rating: Again, I really don't care, I can play any rating.
Preferred Number of Members/Activity: Here's where it gets tricky. I don't want a million MEMBERS but you can have a millions CHARACTERS. People just better be uber friendly there.
Preferred Time where RPG is set in: Nothing too far in the future or too far in the past.

Other Notes: so, here's the deal! i want a new board, i'm just not sure what i'm looking for. there are, however, a few things that i know that i don't want!

-> ANYTHING OTHER THAN INVISIONFREE. i know, it's horrible but whatever.
-> CANONS THAT HAVE FACES. seriously, limit creativity, much?
-> CANON ONLY BOARDS. if you've got a canon only board, you better have some darn good canons.

DO NOT JUST POST A LINK! sell me the board. tell my why i should join, tell me about what you love about it, about the community, etc. then link me. i'm less likely to join a board if i just get the plot and link.

so yeah, i think that's about it. i'll edit it if i think of something.

MelioraAdmin - August 29, 2008 10:48 PM (GMT)
I think you might love Meliora. Really. XD It's a classic fantasy RP based in a fictional land with technology similar to that of the medieval period (hopefully that isn't something you're against). Meliora (the setting of the game) is a land governed by both royalty and divinity, leading to all sorts of conflict and one of our site-wide plots. There's also a secret mages' guild that's going to be causing some waves. ;) There's a great list of various playable races, some of which have the potential to be infected with vampirism (not in the traditional sense, and they're quite rare). There are also a bunch of sub-cultures to explore and a lot of powerful positions to consider (mage, priest/priestess, etc.). Basically, you're just free to be creative and there are lots of opportunities to get involved.

The rating's PG-13+, allowing for just about anything. Of course, threads with lots of mature content need to be labelled to make sure that the site remains friendly for people of different ages and beliefs. The word minimum (not strictly enforced, but we warn members that aren't close) is actually 200 words, which should benefit you as any less tends to kill your muse. ;) We consider our level of writing intermediate+ so we can provide a quality RPing experience. The detail of the game and availability of power makes standards important to Meliora.

However, the community is extremely friendly and quite relaxed. My main goal (along with the other two admins) is to provide a quality RP experience that people can have fun with. The site isn't run like some sort of stuffy military group. New members receive personal welcome messages, and I work with people a LOT to develop their characters and incorporate their ideas into the game. My inbox is always open, and I'm extremely active, so I can at least promise that you'll always be able (and welcome) to contact me for any reason.

As for your three major dont's, Meliora doesn't have any of them. ;) We're hosted on invisionfree, the game is original fiction, and our "canons" have very few specified details. Only two of them have suggested play-bys. . .and they're twins. XD

I've been playing at Meliora since 2005, and I've loved every minute of it. Even when it nearly died, I stuck around and I eventually decided to take over management and restore it. Since that time, the place has evolved tremendously and people seem to be really excited about the game. If you're someone that likes fantasy and the freedom to be creative, you'll probably REALLY enjoy Meliora.

DO NOT JUST POST A LINK! sell me the board. tell my why i should join, tell me about what you love about it, about the community, etc. then link me. i'm less likely to join a board if i just get the plot and link.

Ok I have two that I'm trying to sell to you.

The first board is called Island of Fallen Saints. Its a Witch, Werewolf, Vampire and Human RP set in present time, just a few months ahead, actually we are starting December. Its been open since December 07 and is very active right now. We are a friendly community always looking to RP with new members. We do have a few "canons" but mostly our cannons consist of powers and beign grouped into familes. Most of our members are intermediate posters, if not all of them. We are a PG-13 board and at the moment we have a lot of drama going on, mostly love triangles but the threat of an all out war is possible as a few of our characters have started attacking others. I think you should join because its a fun site, tides can turn every which way. I love it cause there is always someone on, there are lots of topics to respond too and the members are really friendly. Hope to see you there :)

Ok my next site is really new, actually its only been open a few weeks. I know I know everyone hates HP by now but hear me out. The site is called The Dark Times Upon Us. Its a post book 7 RP. Hogwarts has been destroyed, so there is no school in this RP. The characters are all adults at least for now and we have a few canons open but are also accepting originals. It is an intermediate site, PG-13. So far the community is small but awesome, sorry I love those guys :pink: I love the ideas we have for it and hope that it gets off the ground.

Thanks for reading :)

so lets say your a celebrity. your living the life nothing can go wrong you know it. but sometimes fame is to much especially if your a teenager you cant make your own mistakes with out the world reading about it the next day. now normal life is looking better and better every day. life in la is looking shittier and shittier as each morning comes and your face is in the papers. what if there was a school that promised normalcy where you can go to school with other celebrity teens and normal teens. where only the celebrities know about the schools secret and the normal kids are there for the schools arts program.

---

so now you have four years to be normal get a part time job make friends that youll keep for the rest of your life although they dont know your really the guy they crushed on from the movie. or the girl they fell in love with. or for that matter who they wish they were. they have no idea what they wish to become is something your running away from and that you wish to have their life.

---

even though your running from hollywood you still have to do premieres, make movies, put out records and interviews. right? or else hollywood would suspect something if 50 teen idols picked up and left right? so even though you've escaped your still pulled back in from time to time and when you go you remember why your in the crappy town in Indiana in the first place. stardom isnt all its cracked up to be.

---

but how long can you stay hidden with out hollywood figuring out where your coming from or for that matter the normal students to figure out that your the guy they have the hots for. and run you out of the school? when you fall in love can you trust the girl to keep the secret? or will she blab to her best friend and the entire town know? would you take her to a premiere? give her a wig and protect her identity? so many questions that will be answered.

On The Brink

I think you might really enjoy this board. There are no face claims to cannons so if you like a cannon we have listed you can take it and use a face that you think fits them. There are 3 other friendly admins willing to help you out. We're just starting as of now its only been open for a little under a week or two. The sites going to be awesome and i havent seen many sites out there like this infact i havent seen any.

Sunni - August 30, 2008 12:38 AM (GMT)
You can give us a shot! Our word average is similar to yours. We're also very friendly and very welcoming :) We have plenty of people around so there are always RPing opportunities.

WIZARDING REALM

We are a slightly AU Harry Potter RPG set right now, in 2008. Filled with fun, friendly, and active members and staff, WR is one of the quirkiest sites around. We welcome nutty characters with open arms and even encourage you to come up with your own crazy sub-plots. Besides the RP forums, we have a ranking system to help improve your writing, run by our awesome band of staff. Besides that, we also have a permanent sub-plot called the Clash! It is set eight years in the future and there is a struggle between the Guardians and the Vesithe.

If you join, we will love you and give you eternal muffins.

Blue Bloods - August 30, 2008 12:43 AM (GMT)
I have one for you since you're pretty open on what you're looking for. We're a vampire RPG but humans are a very popular choice as well. It's easy to play a human who lives in NYC and never even get into the vampire side of our tale, but where you take your character is entirely up to you. We love unique characters and have a great amount of gender diversity in our characters. We love new members and everyone is really friendly. This is the first site I've ever had where it was totally drama free.

We don't have a MILLION members but a good 15 of them are on daily and the really active ones each have around 4-6 characters, because they just can't get enough! Our standard for word count is 400+ words. Hope you like us and thanks for takin' a look ( if you do ;) ).

I wish you the best of luck in your search!

Deep in the heart of NYC, amongst the high-end shops and ritzy museums lies a secret hundreds of years in the making. The rich and powerful are not as they seem. In fact they are from an ancient lineage, that of the Blue Bloods.
They are vampires who's memories have been preserved through their past lives, making them extremely smart, strong, and lethal. They have more power than you can imagine... but something is hunting them. The Croatans, vampires that feed on others of their kind, hide in the shadows and for now it seems Blue Bloods no longer hold rank at the top of the food chain.

THIS IS THE BEST TIME OF YOUR LIFE !
THIS IS HELL.

9:00AM 01 SEPTEMBER 2008
regency park high opens it’s doors to the new year.

9:20AM 01 SEPTEMBER 2008
regency park’s fire alarm sounds and the school is evacuated.

9:30AM 01 SEPTEMBER 2008
in just ten minutes the school is burnt to the ground with over
ten students missing inside the main building.

10:30AM 01 SEPTEMBER 2008
the parents arrive to take their ‘little darlings’ on home away
from the wreckage that was once the most prestigious and only
private school in charleston, south carolina.

9:00AM 07 SEPTEMBER 2008
unable to find anywhere else for the student body to finish their
education regency park’s four hundred or so population is shipped
off to the only other place in the town; charleston’s public high.

Have you ever walked into school in the morning knowing that
you’re one of the most hated people in the building? Have you
had your whole class ignore you because your father employs all
of theirs? The kids of Regency Park have. The difference between
them and you? They don’t care.

Raised as Charleston’s elite the rich bitches and spoilt brats of
Regency Park were brought up knowing they were better
than anyone else. They can wave their money at a problem and
it goes away; since birth they’ve never had to worry about a thing.
Now it’s all changed. Now they’re at public school and no one
here plays by the rules.

It seems like forever that the little Princes and Princesses from
Regency Park High have been lording it over you and your school.
They’ve strutted down the street, their families getting richer off
your family’s poverty. Apparently people couldn’t take it anymore.
Apparently somebody burnt down their school. And now they’re
here. Ready for you to take your revenge.

Everyone could take time to get to know each other like the principal
suggested; everyone could get along all happy and nice. And everyone
could have a fair chance at settling in.

But then it just wouldn’t be High School.
Would it?

THIS IS HIGH SCHOOL.
THIS IS WAR.

I WANTED TO BE YOU

Unfortunately, my board is not for sale ;) But I will attempt to put its best foot forward here in terms of tempting your interest.

The Fated is an intermediate-advanced board, so there's sort of a range of post length but definately no beginners or one liners. It's been my experience that, as long as you give the person you're rping with something good to work off of, you'll get a decent sized reply. I know several of our members post within your range of word count, so I think it would be a good fit for you in that respect.

We accent both canons and originals, so the board is wide open in terms of characters. We LOVE diversity. Different nationalities, ages, backgrounds, essentially characters from all walks of life. It really adds to the roleplay I feel, so as long as a character is Mary/Gary Sue they should be fine.

In terms of member count, we've hit a little low since a lot of players started school/college again for the fall, but i'm sure it'll bump back up again soon. We still have about 10-15 characters on per day.

The site plot is a pretty simple premise. It all begins with a plane full of strangers who otherwise probably wouldn't have met, and then they're thrown together when the plane crashed. On the most elemental level it's very character driven, about different people meeting and learning all about each other in a situation where they otherwise might never have spoken. There will also be some science fiction-ish stuff thrown in. Not robot/alien type stuff, but just sort of out-of-the-ordinary things and events that occur on the island during the course of the story.

So, all that being said, here's my list of draws:

The members - they're fantastic. It's a VERY friendly site, where the ooc community gets along really well, but also welcomes in new members with a smile. There aren't any cliques, like you see at some sites. The staff don't think they are better than regular members.

Diverse Characters - canon and original. we love having a variety of character types on our board. There are three different classifications of character you can create on the board: crash survivors, castaways from a previous crash, and a group called the Others who are of a very mysterious nature. Beyond that, we encourage characters of all ages, nationalities, and pasts. You can really get creative with your character. Our only limitation is that you keep it fairly realistic and not mary sue.

Quality of Writing - I'd say the quality of writing at TF is really good. Some rpers write longer posts than others, but it's about quality, not quantity. Generally, whatever effort you put into a post, you'll recieve in turn with the reply.

Non-confusing Plot - some plots are ridiculously complicated and hard to follow, with multiple sub plots that you have to keep track of two. You will not find that at TF. The main plot is pretty simple, and yet lends itself well to a good, character-driven story. Since the plot is progressive, members are kept up to date with the help of a very easy-to-follow timeline, and announcements from the admin when something big happens. We encourage our characters to come up with their own sub plots and character plots, and there's a really great opportunity for creativity.

Freedom for creativity - we've tried to keep the plot as open and unrestrictive as possible, so there's definately room for players to be creative and determine their own character plots.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head at this time of night. ;) Let me know if you have any questions! You can PM me here, or reach my at the admin account there or via cbox. Good luck!

Ričle - August 30, 2008 03:33 AM (GMT)
Hi nadja!
Well, here is me telling about my board, Abydos. In the category of 'anything' we are an active, small community and the role plays are medieval fantasy. I'm not sure if that's too far in the past for you? We're super-friendly with an awesome community, but there is an application to join and we only accept 'advanced' members. Advanced by our standards means that someone has mature writing with lots of depth and detail. We don't have any canons and we don't limit our writers much at all - you can basically do anything you like within 'medieval fantasy'.

Ok, I'm pasting my schpeel below with my board description and selling points! Please let me know if you would like more information or have any questions. Good luck! ^_^

The Abydos Quest is an advanced free-form role playing board for writers interested in cooperative fantasy storywriting. There is a short application (give us a writing sample by responding to an RP scenario). No word minimums, shops, canons, or restrictions - write the stories you want and make the characters you want. The provided fantasy 'world' is extremely large, so there's lots of space for you to be creative!
  • Relatively new board, and small community
  • Only advanced writers accepted. Core members average 700-1500 words/post or more, with good depth, detail, spelling, and grammar (less is fine, this is just an idea of what we're like).
  • All stories are original - there are no set plots or canons. A world with geography has been established for your use, you can create what you will within that.
  • The setting is fantasy - medieval with magic, dragons, knights, etc. Other races/species ok as long as they incorporate into the setting.
  • Most content is PG/PG-13, but there are no word filters.
  • Friendly, active staff who know how to run an RP board.
  • Click here to check us out!

ad under construction.

roleplayrefuge has no set... anything, save that it is pg=13. we cover every genre, allow any conceivable being (heck, bring us a wet rock and if you can figure out how, you can play it) we're fairly small but have a large number of characters and threads. link in signature.

nadja - August 30, 2008 04:32 AM (GMT)
omg! you guys are so amazing for replying! now, let's start from the top, shall we?
meloriaadmin the site really is amazing. i was once a member but it just didn't work out for me. i thought i could really get into it but there were complications. you guys have done an amazing job with that board, though. seriously, i hope all of the best for you guys and the board because it needs to be out there, i just don't think it's for me.

shadowangel as for the first board, IoFS looks interesting and i've bookmarked it but i'm wondering if it might be too simplistic for me. maybe i just wasn't looking at the right threads but they seem to be a bit small. however, i have bookmarked it and will be coming back to it. as for your HP site, -facedesk- i haven't finished DH yet so i really try to avoid those.

zuca1988 as with IoFS, i've bookmarked the site. it's interesting but i'm not sure if it's what i'm looking for. i've already got a school board and another board where i've got characters in high school... i'll have to get back to you on that.

sunni i'm a little iffy on the board. i'm just not sure about it. there's just something that kind of makes me go 'meh'.

bluebloods i've seen the site several times but my problem is that i'm too picky about vampire boards for words. after running my own and creating my own vampire world, it's hard to view a vampire in any other term... thank you, though.

matches lol omg, you're amazing. THAT is how you sell a board! again, i don't know about another high school board but it's a possibility so i'm not even thinking about saying no just yet. especially with a pitch like that XD

castaway unfortunately, i really can't stand the idea of lost. the show just got entirely too ridiculous for me and i could never get into it.

ričle the time frame is kind of stretching but the first board i was ever on was a medieval fantasy board and i've been wanting to find another board like that. the only real issue i would have is getting my head around one account posting multiple characters. i like the structure of each different personality having their own, separate account but i've bookmarked the site so don't give up on me yet.

rosalieart i've never really been one to take on a multi-genre board like that. i'll have to give it some thought and see if it's a challenge i want to take on.

thanks so much to everyone who has posted an ad and i'll get back to those that i've bookmarked on their sites, later on, if i have more questions!

i'm still accepting offers.

MelioraAdmin - August 30, 2008 04:42 AM (GMT)
Well it's a bummer that we won't be seeing you 'round Melly, but thanks so much for the kind words! It really means a lot to me as I've put tons of effort into the site. Good luck with your search!

Mana4X2 - August 30, 2008 10:47 AM (GMT)
Hey there nadja,

The only problem I see with Mana4X2 is that we do have real face personas for the Canon character, however, it's a preference, not a rule. Anyways,we are a PG-13 rated, well over four year old, friendly community, currently on PART 2 of a plot that everyone is having soooo much fun with.

How can I personally tell? Because the majority of people are posting well over our 200 word limit, and two of the threads are 3-5 paqes long already. Our community prides itself in making any and all feel welcome, intergrating them into part of the family. So, check us out. Hope you like what you see.

If not, it's all good. Oh, and, even though there is a school in the X-Men universe, we have three other factions that are totally not school related.

A lot has happened over the course of time, strength and growth clearly seen, as a new school year will inevitably bring more of the usual danger a resident of Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters often faces. It seriously doesn’t help that Magneto‘s decision to open a new school of his own has seen many new mutants drawn to the Master of Magnetism's ideals. The Brotherhood Superiorum continues to grow strong, however, it's about to become no longer a school. Erik Magnus Lensherr cannot continue to inculcate his anti human ideals into the next generation if he has to constantly be looking after the duties being Principle entails!

No, it's time to simplify things so he can once again focus solely on the dream that mutants WILL one day reign supreme!

Who really wants to take sides though? Who really cares about either of their ideals? If that sounds like you, then DME is where you belong. Mana4X2's own concept created faction, Damien-Myne Enterprises, stretches over several cities, with its main office in New York City. Your boss is Colin Damien Myne, AKA Boilmet, founder and owner of this Freelance faction;; he offers you great accommodation, excellent pay, and the freedom to do whatever you want…

Cross him, though, and your life won’t be worth living! Boilmet will do whatever it takes to make sure nothing gets in the way of furthering his business… NOTHING, not even you.

And then there is talk that the Friends of Humanity are working on something to eradicate mutant kind and that The White Queen is slowly rebuilding the ranks of the Hellfire Club. Will the FoH succeed? Will the new HFC be stronger, or will it once again fall apart like it did the first time?

Who knows, because only time will tell…

Now to the selling:

-We have an awesome world, original, creative, vast, and high and low fantasy.
-Our members are friendly, we love helping people.
-The writing is extremely good (we have several budding novelists and two members of staff have almost finished the first draft of their book!)
-We have a choice of skins, ranging from themes to navigation styles. The omni menus on the NR Classic are particularly helpful to new peoples. :D
-Our staff are amazing, if I don't say so myself. We really do try and help people in every way we can.
-The board is active, even during slumps we are active, and during peaks are uber active.
-We have a range of writing styles and post lengths, quite literally something for everyone.
-We have awesome races, some original to the world builders and members, and have an awesome wiki to read up on just about anything about the world. We don't ask that you know everything, but its there if you want to know it. :)
-We don't have hundreds of members but we do have members with multiple characters, and active staff and core membership. As is the nature of pbp RPG's people come and go, but we are constantly adding to our core membership.
-We seem to attract friendly types and the admins don't tolerate drama OOC or trolling or flaming. We have fun, we joke around but we don't have nastiness. Seriously, its just not tolerated.
-We have our own webspace, website, wiki and host and are on IPB, which is an awesome format we paid for.

-Finally, we are flexible, a community but also somewhere people can just post and go. We have OOC chatter but there is no pressure to join in, and we have an awesome plot section with a plot directory, archive directory, its super organised and awesome!

Lici - August 30, 2008 02:52 PM (GMT)
Hi there nadja! I think Fairytale Nightmares could be what you're looking for. Why? Well...

+ We're an intermediate level board with a small member base (having been open for only a week so far) of friendly, fun and inventive people. The single admin is helpful and friendly and takes your suggestions on board.

+ You're allowed (at the moment) two characters per RPer, but if we get more interest and as the board grows we're willing to open this up to more parts; I myself have two characters already and, no, they're not the main characters. ;)

+ We have a small canon list but the PBs listed in their light biographies are subject to change at the RPers discretion. And if none of our canons appeal to you? Well, the option is always open to play an original character!

Now, I'm probably a bit biased because I am the admin, but I think with a dedicated and semi-active member base, Fairytale Nightmares has the potential to be a great, long-lasting and exciting RP. It's an original idea so there should be no limit to your creativity.

And now for the clincher: the advert. Any questions? You can PM me here or ask away on the C-Box on site!

"I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones."
~ Albert Einstein

The year is 2118. It is four years after the Great World War.

The Earth has come under the rule of the self-proclaimed Emperor, Emmanuel Roth. In his plot to rebuild the Earth from the ruins, he has colonised the planet and runs the world from his base in the Aerium, Brandenburg, Germany.

Roth’s theory is that the foundations of a strong society in the future come from the past. It is for this reason that Roth has returned the world to the years of the Victorians; his native Britain’s glory days. But with the good – technology, employment, architecture – comes the bad – murder, poverty, illness and death.

Life and death can be a snap decision, like the flip of a coin. Will you survive to see the Earth restored to its former glory?

Tammi - August 30, 2008 03:12 PM (GMT)
Alright, so! I don't know if you're looking for a human rpg or if you'd be into this, but 'Souls is definitely worth a look.

We're somewhere around intermediate-advanced, but we go for quality over quantity. And we're all there to have fun, so no one's going to nag if you make a 200-word post.

It's set in Nova Scotia, Canada, in a post-apocalyptic alternate timeline. Humans are dead and werecanines are the playable species. Werewolves and werecoyotes are the most prominent, but anything of the genus canis can shift into a were form. The umbrella term for a shifter is a Luperci, and every Luperci has the ability to use one of their three forms-- Lupus (wolf), Secui (halfling) and Optime (were).

We are on IPB 1.3.1, which is like IF, but with a lot more features, such as skins (we have 13 currently, 2 more on the way), and a lot of customization made possible by the IPB html templates.

Next, we do not have canons, period. We have open characters, but it's a bit different. No one is forced to play an open character-- they're there for people who'd like to have a character with familial relations and most likely be involved in a plot. The open characters are usually family members, and I've got three characters in need of players listed. A lot of people join with original characters, and every character is original-- open characters are not canons. O:

We have a lot to check out as well-- we have a website which has all the information on the game, rules, etc, a roleplaying guide which has all the information about the Luperci, and a Wiki, which we're still working on building up. It's a database for old characters and a way to organize our in character events, since we had nowhere else to put it. And we have a list of many members' inner pokémon. :]

We've got an awesome ooc community, with around 50 members, so we're not huge. We have 74 characters at the moment, but a lot of people like playing more than one character. c: So there are a lot of people and characters to plot with! Members don't just check up on their threads, but post frequently in the ooc discussions. We've got the traditional up, down, sideways games, which is at 132 pages (seriously, WHAT |: ) and we've had a lot of roleplaying discussion threads. The one about names slowly became a discussion about Animorphs, though.

We also have a lot of contests-- icon hunts, word filter games, and creation contests- we've got a contest going right now to create some new playable areas. :3

Anyways, I hope you take a look! 8D

'Souls is a post-apocalyptic world. Humans have long extinguished themselves with a military virus, yet the wildlife persists. The Canis family in particular seemed to adapt very well and evolved the ability to change into a bipedal from, the Luperci. Others have not, the Luperci Nonnisi. Some embrace this newfound gift, others loathe it with passion. Some treasure the shifting ability, some grapple with it...

Following the end of the cold war, a project to attempt to create a 'super soldier' through genetic modification was initiated. The test subject, however, contracted a common flu - or some sort of virus - and simple cold mutated. Whether it was sabotage or an accident, somehow the work made to improve the soldier neglected to address their immune system. The human could jump higher and run faster, but if they contracted pneumonia, or even the flu, it was all over for them. In six months, the human population was decimated; all by what was once the flu. Government efforts to contain the virus failed miserably, and ninety-seven percent of the human population died.

That same virus, however, had an altogether different effect on canines. Rather than killing them off, it gave the canines new abilities: that of shifting into a were form. With this newfound gift, wolves quickly rose to becoming the dominant specie in the world, calling themselves the Luperci.

Since 2001, 'Souls  has provided an interesting and stimulating in character experience to roleplayers of many skill levels and ages. Our In Character environment provides an experience for both those wishing to roleplay wolves as well as those who wish to play a character beyond the average wolf. Our Out of Character environment is friendly and laid-back, with contests, games and other fun things for members to participate in. Discussions, debates, and questions are welcome and encouraged. Bleeding Souls is always looking to add new members to its ranks!

'Souls  has been a consistent and favorable roleplaying environment for all roleplayers. The general game rating is PG-13. More mature threads are welcomed though, as long as they are clearly marked. The administration is experienced and fair. The general population of the game is more than willing to help out any newcomers to the experience.

Check 'Souls  out today on our domain, bleeding-souls.com or on our forums.

We hope to see you soon!

Angels is an anthromorphic board, but it's just an all around well written board, we have a reasonable amount of members (we're still trying to get more, 'cause we're epic and greedy bastards), It takes place in a futuristic World that has very little land mass, and is mostly water.

I slaved over the Plot and Rules, the skin isn't amazing, but it's complete and dosen't hurt your eyes the members, we have now are excellent Rpers, with amazing characters, there's a lot of freedom within the dynamics of the world for you to play with.

I have to admit, there's lots of reading material to take in, but only the Story and Rules are required, we also offer a Map, Canon Characters ect. but none of that is necessary, only convenient if your low on muse and want to know more about the setting.

Here's our original advertisement, for more info:

Angels is a futuristic anthromorphic ("furry") RPG story-line following the uneasy Reconstruction of a technologically advanced island city after a terrible tragedy, and the quest of it's citizens as well as the infamous Hour Glass Guild to save it.

Richly detailed and full of dark, fantastic themes, we launch our members deep into the plot of the RPG from the start, so soon the characters become immersed in a quickly unfolding, fast-paced science fiction mystery.

Darkness thrives in this freezing world where beasts dominate the earth, social struggles divide a once peaceful city and the strong battle relentlessly to defend those who cannot defend themselves.

How about a Modern Horror setting?

There is no war between lycanthropes and vampires. The were-folk do their best to avoid the night stalkers and the night stalkers do their best to keep out of pack affairs. While lycans rule the suburbs and vampires stalk the high crime end of town, they don’t mingle well. Their separation also allows them to remain hidden- hidden from the basic laws and physics of the one dimensional human world. That’s how everyone likes it and that's how it's meant to stay.

Atleast, mostly everyone. A modern Sherlock Holmes, John Alden is known for solving cold cases and puzzling crimes. It was only a matter of time before the missing persons, maulings, and murders would unearth timeless mysteries. John Alden has uncovered the world’s best kept secret and there’s a legion of supernatural beings that will stop at nothing to keep it that way.

John knows that no one would believe that vampires and lycanthropes exist, let alone commit crimes and murders. He also knows that these supernatural beings could never be incarcerated. But he could deal out his own justice, with help of course. The kind of help from docile lycanthropes and a few vicious vampires, has brought many to justice. Only those who have managed to remain secluded and unpunished are the witches. Their conniving and secretive ways remain a mystery to all, save for a select few who have gained enough trust to dive into their corrupted world.

The witches have remained unscathed in the dangerous city of Aldenville. Until recently. A strange case that was assigned to John Alden would just look like an ordinary woman attacked by a vicious dog while out for a jog to anyone else. But John’s knows better. He needs help to figure out why anyone would want to commit the first witch assassination in years. He needs to find it out fast before the witches turn on the lycanthropes. He needs to find it out before his whole city goes to hell.

Will you be brought to justice, or will you be the harbinger? Or… will you just go on through life without knowing about the supernaturals that live amongst you and others like you? You can only ignore it for so long. Even a young child notices when things go Bump in the Night.

At Bump in the night, there is all sorts of possibilities for plots- from joining in the new order, to taking various high-level positions that remain open, the possibilities are endless. Positions open include Coven leader, Witch Council positions, Pack positions.

We're mildly slow moving right now, but with the devotion of the members already on site, things are definitely looking to pick up. Join in now to get the positions that are going fast!

So you’re looking for a board, huh? Owen’s just might be your home! Currently, we’re kind of trying to coach a few new members into role playing so some topics are less than 200 words but I promise, there’s several members on the site who are MORE than capable of writing 500+ word posts (me being among them). Also, we’re new so the member base is small but it’s new and willing people like you who turn us into a steadily larger board.

Okay, down sides out of the way, here’s a bit about WHY you should join Owen’s.
  • The admins have all been RPing together for a long time now, two of us for three+ years. We know each other’s writing and are all extremely close as well as experienced and friendly administrators.
  • our members own, end of story. They’re so sweet and kind and we love them to pieces.
  • We are super friendly here. It doesn’t seem that obvious in the c-box but there’s PMs flying around like you wouldn’t believe.
  • This is a revival board so we know the plot and we know how to push a plot along so it’s guaranteed that the plot will move steadily in the proper direction.
  • We have a ton of plans being tossed around, details being worked out, and final decisions being made about new happenings on the board such as teachers and classes, and monthly board-wide activities.
  • You said no canons. Well, we don’t believe in canons either. The board’s entirely creative. Face claim isn’t required. It’s pretty much do what you wish. We just want you to join us.
  • We don’t believe in member restrictions. You want a girl in art? GO FOR IT! We’re not one to stop you from creating the character you like. Yeah, even numbers look pretty but why restrict the creative juices flowing in a member’s head?
  • We’re always looking for new members who love us just as much as we love new members to join us and keep us company! Delicious guesties are always welcomed on Owen’s.
  • I’d type more (I could go on forever) but my lappy is going to die soon.

So yeah, that’s stuff about Owen’s that I love. Feel more than free to check us out. Again, don’t let the fact that we’re still quite obviously a baby board throw you off. Give it a poke around. We need new members to help it blossom into a big and awesome board!

At Boarding school...
...no one can hear you SCREAM

Owen Academy’s atmosphere used to be full of excitement, love, and harmony. Nowadays, however, it is infected with unease, tension, and hatred. When the school first opened, everything was fine. The girls took to singing or dancing while the boys took to band or drawing. Acting was unisex; no one really cared who went into that. Things continued in this manor for a while until one year, several new students came and crossed the unwritten gender boundaries of the school. The popular kids were furious and dubbed these new students “outcasts” because they cast themselves out of society freely.

The popular kids ignored these new students and made sure they knew they weren’t welcomed. For a while, the outcasts took this exile and put up with it all for the love of their art. There were some outcasts, however, that didn’t like this exile. They rebelled by attempting to date popular kids, socializing with them, and being all around rebellious. The popular kids were infuriated by this and retaliated.

They planned what was to be the ultimate prank. They would kidnap an outcast, tie them up, and leave them attached to a tree in the school court-yard. That would get the point across to the outcasts to leave the popular kids alone… or would it?

One of the popular kids involved in this prank took it to a whole new level. He started beating on the outcast- as they were tied to the tree- and ended up severely injuring her. She had several broken ribs, one of which punctured her lung, several deep cuts, and internal bleeding, all of which led up to her death overnight. The school’s dean found the body, still tied to the tree, the next morning and immediately expelled the students who pulled the prank and pressed charges against them.

Ten years later, it is almost the spring semester of 2008. Rumors of a ghost haunting the halls of the academic building flew around the institution like wildfire and sparked the interest of several students. they formed a group and called themselves The Silencers. As a group, they planned a ghost hunt of all of the academic buildings determined to find this ghost and put it to rest.

But the night they went on the hunt, a dark chilly night over winter holidays, something went wrong. No one knows what happened that night, only that it happened in the Acting Building. The students went in, ready to hunt this ghost, but never left. the building, as well as every other inch of the campus, was searched from top to bottom. Not a single trace that the students were ever there was found.

Police were notified and the school was forced to close down for the spring semester. Now, it is summer and the school has been allowed to open it's doors again to students with the promise that rules and policies will be stricter and security will be much heavier. Students are no longer allowed to be out alone at night, all buildings are required to have security guards at all times, and all student organizations must be heavily monitored by staff. There are lists and books on the new restrictions for the school.

The students hate it. They rebel at every possible moment. From practical jokes on teachers to simply outright breaking th rules, it seems the entire student body is banding together against one force: the rules. When students with some of the top creative ability in the country join forces, who knows what will happen. But what was that whisper from around the corner? Was it the legendary ghost, Isabella, waiting patiently for her next victim? Only she knows. Think you can handle it?

You may want to try Asion. It's a small board with a dedicated member base.

Con: The background reading is pretty dense.

Pro: Your admins are walking encyclopedias of the world and prefer to be treated like ordinary members instead of enforcers. ;3

Our biggest selling point is the quality of the writing and the quality of the plot(s). I suggest reading the 'before you register' section first to see if we look like your kind of fun. I am coming up on my two-year anniversary with the board. The board, itself, is four years old.

As long as my coadmin and I are around, the dang thing isn't going to give up the ghost. XD

Look forward to hearing from you if you're interested -- link's in my sig.

Ok one thing, we have faced canons but I'm not married to them so yeah if you see someone you like but the face is wrong be all like heeeyyyy buddy, can I change so and so and I'll be all like NO! BOOWAHAHAHAHA!!!!... and then you hit me and do it anyway.
Note: My personality is in no way reflected in the actual board... although it should >.< So don't let me scare you away. End note....

So other than the faced canons thing we fit all your other requirement, a very difficult task I might add, but I'm good like that.
Note: Do you like me Yes or No, circle one. End note...
So back to the basics... Lets see, lets see uh... you can cuss? That's a plus right? *sigh* You see this is hard because we just opened so I can't go on about our members and track record and all that good stuff. All I can offer you is a chance to get in on the ground floor of an awesome plot that's sure to turn into an awesome rp. I offer you Project: Salem.

Set in the near future, Project: Salem is a modern day witch hunt. Rated N.C. 17 for the big kids in us, I think this might be what you're looking for.

... Warning I'm about to post a long plot but personally I hate reading through these things to figure out what's going on so I'm also posting a synopsis. If you enjoy reading long plots then by all means skip the synopsis and read it. I think its quite good but I may be a little basis. And hey if you like the synopsis, read the plot anyway.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Spoiler Alert~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Synopsis: Salem is a secret military agency created to track down, capture witches. The main story revolves around a young witch capture by Salem and trained to hunt her own, the suicide of her former watcher, a Salem agent and national hero, a suicide letter telling all about the secret organization, and one miserable detective stuck between his job or revealing the truth.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To whom it may concern,

However I'm not sure whom would be to concern with the ramblings of this old man any longer. But I still sit and write, I suppose we all want our story's told one way or another, for a man with no family I assume this type of letter is the obvious choice... Choices, the ones we have and the ones we do not, isn't that how these stories always being. For me, a man of my position, to speak of such explanations as the god or the devil is out of the question. However I have no choice for that is the only way I can even begin to phantom what I've witnessed during my time with Salem.

How that word brings back memories, ones not even this old corpse can forget. They told me I couldn't speak of it, S.a.l.e.m., the "Secret Association in League towards the Exploration of Magic." That was our official title but I'm no longer sure if I can believe even that anymore. Is what we were doing really exploration? The more I think about it the less I can accept it. No, I've always known somewhere, deep down, that wasn't exploration, it was extermination.

Oh god how many have I killed? How stained are these hands, that fumble to write these lines, in blood? It sickens me, just the thought of the pain I've caused, and the horror of her face keeps me from my sleep: hunting my nightmares. Its gotten so hard to even shut my eyes, that face, that face of an angle and a demon torturing me. Damned hand, stop your accursed shaking how many times will you force me to write this letter. Let me continue before I lose what little nerve I have left.

You may find this next part hard to believe, even after what I've witness I still have troubles believing. Enough with the run around, I've always been a direct man, that's how Ive lived my life, there's no reason to change now. Salem was created with the sole priority to hunt and capture witches. After they were caught they were taken back to our labs where they were probed, prodded, and experiment upon until ultimately there was nothing left to test: at which then they were disposed of permanently.

Then I believe what I was doing was protecting my country like any good soldier, and believe me I was damn good. You see I say was because; a good soldier never questions his superiors, he carries out his orders without hesitation and most importantly he keeps his country's secrets to himself: yes I was damn good once upon a time. But after what I've seen, at the end of my life I've begun to doubt what is most important. Is it being a good soldier, or a good human. I know I'm going to hell for the sins I've committed, there's no doubt about that, so this letter isn't the redemption of my soul but a plea for the rest of the ones I've destroyed.

I can't name them all, hell I can't even count them all, the live I've ended. But one, it stands out, I wish it didn't for it hunts me so, but it stands out. Her name I do know, Anisette Marie, I made sure they spelled it right on her tombstone. Beautiful girl with the saddest eyes I've ever seen. I suppose anyone's would be so sad witnessing there parents murdered before them. She was but a mere child and yet she still stood up to her parents' killers and in front of those monsters she summoned what little power she had to keep us away from their lifeless bodies.

I reacted like a soldier, like I was train to when facing a threat. No matter how big or small you crush it. I remember her name, I remember her face, I remember the weight of her lifeless body in my arms. She bleed the same blood, she cried the same tears, as did her parents. And from that day on I was no longer a good soldier. I questioned, I disobeyed, and now, on this tear stained pad I'm telling the secret: to whomever will listen. Here is my secret, here is my country's secret. I still felt heart beat...

I sincerely wish I hadn't,

Sergeant Major, James T. Fields

Imagine yourself a detective, you stumble upon a scene of an decorated officer in front of you, and a little over here and a some more over there on the wall. He no longer looks familiar but the name still rings clear, how couldn't it its been everywhere in the news. This years metal of honor recipient put a bullet threw his head a day after accepting the damned thing, how the news'll love to get a hold of this story. Sometimes they can just make you so sick you need a ci... right, right no smoking in the crime scene.

As you put that rectangular box of heaven back in you nameless officer one hands you the blood soaked letter in a plastic bag. Great your job just got tougher, "James T. Fields is a national hero... he will be missed dearly... the cause of death was accidental... a gun malfunction..." Gah who would believe that, a decorated soldier accidentally shoots himself in the face while cleaning his firearm. And this letter just put the final nail in the coffin, although you're sure that the higher up's will make this disappear too, they already have there story so why are you here. Well to keep up appearances no doubt. You have that promotion coming up and you'd hate to be passed by again, right?

So you do like a good little flunky should; you keep your mouth shut, when they call the press conference you stand there as the detective heading up the case, you give you sincerest condolences for the loss, and you rule the case as an accident and close it. That's what you'd do right? That's what Detective Avery Nickolas did, or was suppose to do. Stepping up to the podium he clear his trough repeating his sincerest condolences for the loss when his chief by his side nodding in agreement. Just the sight made Avery's stomach turn into knots so when it came time for the ruling he paused before delivering the phase that lunched a news frenzy.

"Ahem, James T. Fields was and is a national hero who's unexpected death affect the lives of many... he will be missed dearly. As of now the cause of death will be ruled as an accidental... gun malfunction.... However during the course of the investigating there was a discovery of possible evidence to a different crime. That is all the information we have until further investigation, any questions please addressed to the chief. Thank you."

There are faced canons but originials are open and totally welcome.

So, to sell this game... This is the second version of what is probably my favorite RPG of all time. The plot was good, the characters were great, and the community really was that - a community. I met people on that site that I still play with now in other places; people that I talk to all the time. It promises to be a great site again so if you're interested, I recommned joining.

WELCOME TO DELIRAMENTI ASYLUM
• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •
Despite being a hospital slash mental institute, the weight of death had never really dawned upon the staff of the Deliramenti Asylum until the passing of Dr. William Korsakov. Although the Seattle City Police Department had concluded his death as a tragic accident of natural causes (mainly old age), even the 'saner' staff of Deliramenti could not settle with such deductions. Because clearly, but Dr. Korsakov, like an old habit, was rather die hard. It was so strange and perhaps psychologically disturbing for the staff to have to accept that even men like him were simple human beings, like everybody else. His death had to be a suicide or a homicide. Either way, Korsakov could not have died like everybody else... Right? And so, the medical and psychological staff all pointed fingers at each other, blaming the other for the death of their employer. Friends stuck together, and if there ever were cliques within the Institute, then they had become more strongly defined in structure.

Of course, the other perhaps more 'normal' rumor buzzing about the lounging areas over the steam of scalding hot, insipid coffee was the matter of who would be the next head of this Institute? Of course, James Breckenridge's name was the first name that everybody popped out. He had worked alongside Korsakov the longest, and had successfully worked his way up to the ranks of being the head of the Male Ward. Between himself and Julia Monroe, the head of the Female Ward, Breckenridge had the obvious advantage, given that he was more experienced, and well, although she was a successful and most definitely wanted psychologist, she had been a changed woman ever since the second asylum breakout, six months ago.

Even someone as alone and quiet as Breckenridge obviously gets the rumors through the cracks of his office, and therefore he, too, had anticipated his promotion... Of course, that was only to have it shot down with the mysterious appearance of William Chambers. Coming from London, England, he stepped right into the shoes of Korsakov as if it were his birthright. Of course, people would have questioned this move, except for the fact that even the toughest of the staff were frightened by Chambers' intimidating nature (if they had thought that Korsakov was intimidating, they hadn't seen anything yet), and for the fact that their former employer had left Chambers to take care of business in his own will. The mystery that arises here was that nobody had ever heard of Chambers in their lives. Not even those whom Korsakov had kept dear. Not to mention that a certain James Breckenridge, with his chance of a promotion crushed, seemed oddly... Twisted. Changed, in a way. He wasn't the Doctor that everybody had known before since the appearance of Chambers.

And that was when the first suspicions had started to arise.

As mentioned before, the death of Korsakov was surrounded by mystery. Of course, with Breckenridge's shady behavior, especially with the sudden appearance of Chambers, people started to suspect that it was Breckenridge that had framed Korsakov's 'natural death'. He had the motive, and he had more than enough medical knowledge to, you know, poison him or something and still make his death seem accidental...

The weight of having two major escapes (and no signs of recovery by the escapees who have been contributing to the once again increasing crime rate to the city of Seattle) seems to have harmed Deliramenti's reputation, which, of course, takes its toll on the (mostly) innocent staff of the Asylum. Whatever happened to its good old days of being the most recommended mental institute in the country? Was that not why some of the most talented medical and psychological staff worked here? And what compel them to stay? Reputation or not, there certainly still exists a charm to Deliramenti that keeps the employees getting out of bed every morning.

With a new kind of tension arising within the asylum, not only between colleagues but amongst fellow inmates, and between doctors and their patients, and rumors of Korsakov's suspected 'homicide' spreading, the truth will slowly unwind.

Okay, before I post the ad I'm going to do what you ask and sell you the board. *thinks*. Yeah, I got nothing. :p I just made it yesterday and we've got one member other than me but three characters (I've got two). I'm waiting to officially start the IC posts until September 14th but you're welcome to make a character and chat OOC until then. I just really hope that you check out the site. We'd love to have you.

The Site
The Flipside is a brand new site. With it's first term starting on September 14th, you'll be able to start the fun with the rest of us. Staff positions are open and we're welcoming plenty of new ideas.

The Plot
Baybird High’s students are a bit competitive to say the least.

When the High School announces that they’re going to give the club that raises the most money in the fall fundraiser 2,000 dollars the whole school turns into a warzone. The Cheerleaders won’t talk to the Football Team and the Stage Crew and Drama Club are trying to sabatage eachother!

The Facts
Based in a public school in Vermont “The Flipside” is an original character RP. Make your character and post away. Every 20 IC posts counts as $10 raised for you club. You can RP in classes, the halls and even on the buses to and from school.

The Link

This is the typical letter to these two schools. St Mary's has been designated as the girls' school, and St Peter's for the boys. The schools have seperate classes and campuses, but mix when it's time for clubs and dances. The nuns and ministers all claim their children are saints, but everyone knows what goes down in Catholic schools. Either the sexy uniform of plaid skirts with white shirts and red ties that the girls wear get the boys of St Peter's "excited" or the girls are enticed by the boys habits of smoking behind the bushes. The churches and schools really have no idea that their students don't live by the precious Bible. But by their own motto...
