Title: Looking For A Real Life, Modern Rpg
Description: extraordinarily picky

rrubyred - August 28, 2008 10:53 PM (GMT)
Genre: Real life, possibly modern.

Difficulty: intermediate/advanced, more on the advanced side.

Type(s) of Creature(s): human only

Preferred Rating: PG-13/R

Preferred Number of Members/Activity: fairly active

Preferred Time where RPG is set in: strictly either modern, or early 1900's (though if it's that far back i would like it not to be set in america).

Other Notes:

- i'm looking for a friendly sort of RP, where people are nice and admin is around
- somewhere that's still quite literate but not bogged down with huge plots or novel-sized posts
- i would LOVE if it was set somewhere in europe - i don't really like american settings, unless it's NYC
- please please please don't suggest a school or academy, or anything remotely gossip-girly XD i like the aged-twenty range
- i like playing male characters
- and i like nice layouts. sorry! ^_^

Hihihi there! We're not really modern OR 1900s, but I think you'll be intrigued. Fairytale Nightmares is based in a post-apocolyptic setting but it has a steampunk/Victoriana subplot running throughout. We're set primarily in Germany, but characters can come from all over as there are plenty of boards to RP in. We're a pretty pretty board with friendly, active members and a single, dedicated admin. FN likes literacy, good spelling and grammar, but by no means do you have to post novels - quality over quantity is a good doctrine to live by.
Have I tempted you yet?

"I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones."
~ Albert Einstein

The year is 2118. It is four years after the Great World War.

The Earth has come under the rule of the self-proclaimed Emperor, Emmanuel Roth. In his plot to rebuild the Earth from the ruins, he has colonised the planet and runs the world from his base in the Aerium, Brandenburg, Germany.

Roth’s theory is that the foundations of a strong society in the future come from the past. It is for this reason that Roth has returned the world to the years of the Victorians; his native Britain’s glory days. But with the good – technology, employment, architecture – comes the bad – murder, poverty, illness and death.

Life and death can be a snap decision, like the flip of a coin. Will you survive to see the Earth restored to its former glory?

I think we're perfect for what you're requesting. We started in Rent fandom, post canon, but in the past two years, we've developed into an RL game based in New York which happens to have the canons from that fandom running about. . . You don't need to know a thing about the musical or the movie, since the characters are just characters, nothing more. We're grown up, decent writers, and friendly as can be. Have a look. The banner in my sig's the link.

QUOTE
You're living in America at the end of the millennia. . . and you're not alone.
Alphabet City
We're in the year 1996 and the colorful residents of the East Village in Manhattan are facing the issues which challenge poor Bohemian artists in the mid-90s. Drug abuse, HIV, prostitution, starvation, death, life, and love. However, they find that they aren't alone, friends are all around, and there is always coffee to be drunk, issues to be discussed, and art to be created, good and otherwise. Come join our cast of canon and original characters, featuring a strong sense of community and creativity and find that you're not alone either.
Other notes:Based on the Broadway musical RENT, set post-canon, though slightly AU to keep Angel alive. We have evolved and changed over the past two years from a fandom RP to a RL RP with some fandom characters.  We are lucky to have a great group of OCs who are keeping the plot moving and changing quickly, and we always welcome new writers and OCs with open arms.
We also have a brand new board!  It's pretty and blue and still has that new board smell!!  Come see.  It's pwetty!!!

Hi there :) I think TF might fit what you're looking for. We're definately a friendly bunch, and as the admin I can say that I am most definately always around. We're literate, our plot is fairly simple and concise. The site isn't set in Europe, but it's definately not an Americanized site -- we have characters of varying nationalities, and ages, so it's not a bunch of teenage characters fighting over highschool drama. The site is fandom based, but don't let that scare you away. No knowledge of the fandom is required, and I doubt you'd really feel in the dark without it, since the basic premise is really simple.

We're a friendly lot, so I hope you're give us a look, and let me know if you have any questions!

We were all just strangers, trying to get by; headed onto a plane to fulfill whatever was the next tiny stitch in the pattern of our lives. None of us knew each other, at least, not in a personal way. We might have seen each other here and there, in the airport, on the streets, never really committing faces to memory. We meant nothing to each other then, because we had no reason to interact. No one else on that plane was a part of life, except for those we were traveling with, and so up until that point we didn’t matter to each other. Our conversations were nothing but white noise to pass the time until we landed at our destination, at which time we’d probably never speak or see each other again. At least, that was what we expected. But what really happened changed our perspective entirely.

We never made it back to Los Angeles. Instead, our plane plummeted from the sky practically before we knew what was happening. We became stranded on an island that we could make neither heads nor tails of, with no contact to the outside world and rapidly dissolving hopes for rescue. Regardless of what we would face on that island, the question remained: why were we there? Some said that it was mere coincidence, but others aren’t so sure. Because some of us believe that there is a greater motivator than coincidence. There we were, a plane full of strangers who knew nothing about one another. But now, we live together, survive together. We have been drawn together by a force that plays the greatest hand in directing our lives. We are the Fated.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Fated is a semi-canon roleplay based on the television show Lost. The canon characters will be available for use, as well as original characters. However, we will differ from the show in that our plot on the island will not be the same. There will be no separate tail and fuselage sections. There will also be another group of castaways on the island that were there before the crash of Flight 815. Everyone is free to reinvent the story of their character on the island and how they interact and survive there. Knowledge of the television show is not required!
TF is in need of CANONS! Hurley, Sayid, Eko, Libby, Sun, Jin. Walt, Juliet, and more are still in need of roleplayers! We are also accepting ORIGINALS, and are looking for people to play every type of character, including castaways!
.:home:. .:Plot:. .:Character List:. .:Advertise:.
Come get Lost with us at THE FATED !
ALS is relatively new so it's not uber active. It's based in Scotland however. It's an university and none of that gossip girl crap either haha. Your character can be as old or as young as you want, because you don't have to be a uni student, you could just be a local.
    -SQUEAK- you say you don't want high schools advertised, but i'm gonna ANYHOW SO MEH XP basically we have students and then we have the teachers as well; i play one of them it's amazing. they have their own little subplots and drama going on and are older so idk if it'll appeal to you, hopefully it won't annoy you that i'm plugging it ^___^
THIS IS THE BEST TIME OF YOUR LIFE !
THIS IS HELL.
9:00AM 01 SEPTEMBER 2008
regency park high opens it’s doors to the new year.
9:20AM 01 SEPTEMBER 2008
regency park’s fire alarm sounds and the school is evacuated.
9:30AM 01 SEPTEMBER 2008
in just ten minutes the school is burnt to the ground with over
ten students missing inside the main building.
10:30AM 01 SEPTEMBER 2008
the parents arrive to take their ‘little darlings’ on home away
from the wreckage that was once the most prestigious and only
private school in charleston, south carolina.
9:00AM 07 SEPTEMBER 2008
unable to find anywhere else for the student body to finish their
education regency park’s four hundred or so population is shipped
off to the only other place in the town; charleston’s public high.
Have you ever walked into school in the morning knowing that
you’re one of the most hated people in the building? Have you
had your whole class ignore you because your father employs all
of theirs? The kids of Regency Park have. The difference between
them and you? They don’t care.
Raised as Charleston’s elite the rich bitches and spoilt brats of
Regency Park were brought up knowing they were better
than anyone else. They can wave their money at a problem and
it goes away; since birth they’ve never had to worry about a thing.
Now it’s all changed. Now they’re at public school and no one
here plays by the rules.
It seems like forever that the little Princes and Princesses from
Regency Park High have been lording it over you and your school.
They’ve strutted down the street, their families getting richer off
your family’s poverty. Apparently people couldn’t take it anymore.
Apparently somebody burnt down their school. And now they’re
here. Ready for you to take your revenge.
Everyone could take time to get to know each other like the principal
suggested; everyone could get along all happy and nice. And everyone
could have a fair chance at settling in.
But then it just wouldn’t be High School.
Would it?
THIS IS HIGH SCHOOL.
THIS IS WAR.
I WANTED TO BE YOU
welcome to the hot and sunny city of boca raton, florida; it's one of the state's finest and most beautiful cities, as it's near the beach. here in boca, it's customary to have a love for shopping at large malls and a powerful need to be at the beach every other hour. the residents of boca are a somewhat quirky type, but inside, they're all the same - dramatic and ocean-lovin'. but overall they're pretty nice for rich people.
oh yeah - in order to live productively in boca, you have to have plenty of cash money...in other words, you need to be wealthy. nothing really comes cheap here. sayings of decent houses under four hundred grand are just myths. however, there is a very beautiful neighborhood of apartments which overlooks the ocean called bordeaux, and its apartments are up for owning at reasonable prices. it's usually where most people begin their lives in boca, but for some it's home sweet home forever.
in bordeaux, there's plenty of drama to go around. it's mainly filled with the crowd of older teenagers or young adults, so you can imagine that there's going to be trouble. every day it seems like there's another break up or word of so-and-so having a one night stand with whatsername. some people have to be careful of what they say and do here in bordeaux, and some even have to lie their lives by just to stay alive. it's all up to you when it comes to what happens next. welcome to bordeaux in boca raton.
we'll hit south broadway in a matter of minutes
and like a bad movie i'll drop a line
fall back in a grave i've been digging myself
Lady Notorious - August 31, 2008 02:12 PM (GMT)
Welcome to the lovely little town of Tottori, population... Well, let’s put it this way; everyone knows absolutely everything about everyone else. Or rather, they would love to. It’s one of those nosy little towns where everyone knows who is hooking up, breaking up, or, even, waking up. Pathetic, right? That’s what many of the inhabitants think but, hey, it’s home and leaving home is definitely harder than one may think when one has been living their childhood. But this isn’t about people growing up and leaving their home town. No... When you are welcomed to you’re also greeted by one of the longest lasting rivalries in the history of the world. Or at least in the world of academia.
user posted image user posted image
May I introduce you to the two most prestigious schools in the country, if not the world. At least, that’s what they think in Tottori and thanks to the outstanding college acceptances, most people would agree with it. There is of course a high school for those who do not attend either of these schools, but those who don’t are frowned upon by the upper crust of Tottori society, namely the people who are somehow involved with either, or even both, of the schools. For Bennet Academy for Young Women and The Darcy School for Young Men are the places to be if you’re someone in Tottori, or if you’d like to become someone. The students at the schools are the best of the best, in some field or another, whether it be wealth, intelligence, artistic ability, etc. But nobody can ever beat the entirety of the student bodies of both schools in their rivalry. Nobody.
user posted image user posted image
When the school’s were founded, they were founded as brother-sister schools and that has never changed. But like all siblings, The Darcy School and Bennet Academy have bickered over every little thing and anytime the two school’s meet, there is always some argument between them and not only in the administration; there is an extremely fierce academic and athletic rivalry between the students of the school. They have meets about once every month, switching off each month between an academic and athletic competition, and the students know one another very well. In fact, the student government of each school meets weekly to discuss joint affairs. If not for the fact that one is located at the South End of Tottori and the other at the North End, one would think that they were the same school. They even have school dances together.
user posted image user posted image
And, since the students are male and female teenagers, well, they ignore the rivalries of their schools in order to fulfill the pleasures of the body and soul. But every so often the rivalry causes some issues in relationships creating so much friction between the male and female student bodies.
Well, here it is. All of the Circumstances in Tottori. And by all, I do mean His and Hers.
Des Baroches Casino & Resort. Everyone everywhere has heard of the place, what with it reaching world fame in what seemed to be a week. It’s one of the world’s foremost places to visit if only for it’s location on the coast of Monte Negro. A place that makes Las Vegas look clean and virginal and Hollywood appear to be just another suburban town. The place is home to one of the best restaurants in Europe and is in all sort of magazines more than the next great Hollywood train wreck. It’s become a lifestyle in and of it’s self and the world around wants a piece of that action.
And why shouldn’t it be so popular? With big budget movies dying to film a scene here or there and all sorts of shows going on, well, it’s better than anything else in the world. Certainly Hollywood doesn’t offer as great of a shot as watching the latest big budget action star blow hundred at the crap table just like you. Or the amazing not so slim chance in hell of actually seeing that model you stare at in the magazines at the table next to you. It’s a social equalizer like no other if you could actually manage to afford it. Really, the resort itself has to be the headlines favourite story since it’s always mentioned along with the heiress who might be dating the popstar who wears those skimpy skirts.
Though not all of the headlines are what they could be. January 5th a body was found off the coast of Sicily of all places, later identified to be one of the resort’s former customers. Reports suggest he may have gotten into a bit of trouble with loan sharks since there are gangs of them roaming around the casino freely since it’d be wrong to kick someone out because they look sketch. But not to worry, the man was later found to have overdosed on some nasty little drug, leading people to believe that there might be a drug ring somewhere within the resort. And while Des Baroches denies this, well, let's just say common sense will lead to think otherwise. Which may just say something about the clientele since they’ve gotten more visitors yearly since then.
After all, a small threat of drug dealers or winding up in a ditch somewhere with all your limbs broken is worth it to some of the visitors. Worth it to say that you stayed at the greatest place on earth and hit it big. Or perhaps you lost it all? Really no on will know until you man up, book a trip and take the risk. Des Baroches promises to make it a regrettable mistake you want to do again and again…
Graciously Yours is an Edwardian Era Girl's School set in 1904 England. We're starting off with the cattiness already! And not just are we dealing with girls with attitudes, we're also dealing with a historical backdrop - such as a Japanese girl and a Russian girl sharing close quarters, English socialites and Americans in just as close quarters, A suffragist instructor, and so many more.
QUOTE
-My Dearest Friend -
I hope the weather finds you well, and that your spirits are just as well. I know that this letter is quite overdue, as you have implored me many times that I write to you. My status here is well, and it would be a honor to have you here too.
The year is 1904 - and our dear, dear Queen Victoria, she's been dead for 3 years now. While parts of the world seem to be rife with unrest, our little area of England seems to be doing fine.
Our school has changed hands, and we're positive that you'll love it here. Our owners mysteriously disappeared in 1901 - around the time of the death of our beloved Queen. Still, we continue to work, and the chatter amongst girls of our station still continues on. The biggest chatter is the mystery of what happened to Mr. and Missus Pennington - and why is it that they have disappeared so suddenly. Their whereabouts are a mystery to all of England - though it truly is fun to talk about them and devise rumors. We have gotten a new headmistress, and she's such a sweet woman. We adore her so very much.
The word here is that a building near us is being renovated into a school for gentlemen. Our matron is unnerved by this concept, and has given us a long lecture regarding how we should behave as the fairer sex, but for the life of me, it truly is difficult. It is hard to not hear about the times that the young menfolk come in and tour the school. Sometimes, we'll take secret excursions to the other campus, as it isn't very far from here - it is only within walking distance.
Our classes are difficult, and we are expected to do our best on everything. We are expected to excel in our studies, and become decent housewives and mothers. We learn about the arts and other countries, but never a thing about politics. Politicking is something that is truly too much for many of our female minds, though young women at this school exist that seem to dream about it.
Still, you'll find many here that are interesting, many who aren't, many who will positively get on your last nerve, and so much more. We are but a motley little crew at this school, and with your intelligence, you'll likely get in on a scholarship. Perhaps I can put in a word for you? I dreadfully hope so.
The name? Oh yes - it's the Pennington Academy for Young Ladies. You'll fit in well here, I assure you.
Regards!
-S.
"" RULES | CANON LIST | FACE CLAIM | ADVERTISE | AFFILIATE ""
so lets say your a celebrity. your living the life nothing can go wrong you know it. but sometimes fame is to much especially if your a teenager you cant make your own mistakes with out the world reading about it the next day. now normal life is looking better and better every day. life in la is looking shittier and shittier as each morning comes and your face is in the papers. what if there was a school that promised normalcy where you can go to school with other celebrity teens and normal teens. where only the celebrities know about the schools secret and the normal kids are there for the schools arts program.
---
so now you have four years to be normal get a part time job make friends that youll keep for the rest of your life although they dont know your really the guy they crushed on from the movie. or the girl they fell in love with. or for that matter who they wish they were. they have no idea what they wish to become is something your running away from and that you wish to have their life.
---
even though your running from hollywood you still have to do premieres, make movies, put out records and interviews. right? or else hollywood would suspect something if 50 teen idols picked up and left right? so even though you've escaped your still pulled back in from time to time and when you go you remember why your in the crappy town in Indiana in the first place. stardom isnt all its cracked up to be.
---
but how long can you stay hidden with out hollywood figuring out where your coming from or for that matter the normal students to figure out that your the guy they have the hots for. and run you out of the school? when you fall in love can you trust the girl to keep the secret? or will she blab to her best friend and the entire town know? would you take her to a premiere? give her a wig and protect her identity? so many questions that will be answered.
