Title: Just A Guy Lookin' For An Rp

DocWinters - August 27, 2008 04:07 PM (GMT)
Genre: Modern (Warfare, Crime, Supernatural, etc.), Futuristic
Difficulty: Any
Type(s) of Creature(s): Human, Werewolf, Mutant/Superhero
Preferred Rating: R+
Preferred Number of Members/Activity: Medium-High Activity
Preferred Time where RPG is set in: Modern, Future

Other Notes: I've been RP'ing for quite a few years and I'm just looking for something to reignite my interests. Lately I've found myself playing a lot of law enforcement types. Many of the sites that I've been playing with have died off and I'm willing to put in the time and work to keep active. Although (As my signature and avatar suggest), I'm a sucker for good BSG RP's, most of my experience is in the modern genres. The only two things I'm really not looking for is Harry Potter or High School themed sites.

Thanks for looking!

Hey, you said modern and superhero, so maybe we'll be a fit for you.I run a Batman Begins based RPG. As we are based on BB, rather than general comics, we do keep things a little more down to earth, no powers and such, but we are open to characters from the wider DCU.

Well, I have a game that might fit your interests; it's a fantasy game, set half in the modern world and half in an original world (that somewhat resembles Ancient Greece). At the moment it's all human characters, but many are gifted with powers.

What if, one night, you went to sleep and woke up in another
world? A world that in its own way is as real as the one you'd
just left; where actions have consequences, where pain and
hunger and joy are all felt. An unbelievable world of gods
and myth and magic.

For some, it's reality; each night as they drift off to sleep,
they awaken in a world that they cannot resist. An ancient
world of mystery and adventure, just waiting for someone
to take up the challenge. Every night, it is their refuge,
their haven, from a concrete world of deadlines and
disappointments. But what happens when you don't want
to wake up? What happens when you'd rather be
Lost in a Dream?

Set in an original fantasy world. One of several games at
Dreaming Out Loud, a multi-game role-playing site.

We're building a group of law-enforcement types (You'd be #4) and are always up for whatever you'd want to do. Heck, if you wanted to write a board-wide plot we'd be down for that too. We started in Rent fandom, post canon, but in the past two years, we've developed into an RL game based in New York which happens to have the canons from that fandom running about. . . You don't need to know a thing about the musical or the movie, since the characters are just characters, nothing more. We're grown up, decent writers, and friendly as can be. Have a look. The banner in my sig's the link.

You're living in America at the end of the millennia. . . and you're not alone.
Alphabet City
We're in the year 1996 and the colorful residents of the East Village in Manhattan are facing the issues which challenge poor Bohemian artists in the mid-90s. Drug abuse, HIV, prostitution, starvation, death, life, and love. However, they find that they aren't alone, friends are all around, and there is always coffee to be drunk, issues to be discussed, and art to be created, good and otherwise. Come join our cast of canon and original characters, featuring a strong sense of community and creativity and find that you're not alone either.
Other notes:Based on the Broadway musical RENT, set post-canon, though slightly AU to keep Angel alive. We have evolved and changed over the past two years from a fandom RP to a RL RP with some fandom characters.  We are lucky to have a great group of OCs who are keeping the plot moving and changing quickly, and we always welcome new writers and OCs with open arms.
We also have a brand new board!  It's pretty and blue and still has that new board smell!!  Come see.  It's pwetty!!!

Hi there! Why don't you give us a look-over? We might just be your thing! ^^

"I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones."
~ Albert Einstein

The year is 2118. It is four years after the Great World War.

The Earth has come under the rule of the self-proclaimed Emperor, Emmanuel Roth. In his plot to rebuild the Earth from the ruins, he has colonised the planet and runs the world from his base in the Aerium, Brandenburg, Germany.

Roth’s theory is that the foundations of a strong society in the future come from the past. It is for this reason that Roth has returned the world to the years of the Victorians; his native Britain’s glory days. But with the good – technology, employment, architecture – comes the bad – murder, poverty, illness and death.

Life and death can be a snap decision, like the flip of a coin. Will you survive to see the Earth restored to its former glory?

CtS might be what you are looking for. We are a sci-fi/fantasy set in the near future with a good member base, but we are always looking for new people to corrupt. :)

The world is caught in a vicious cycle, and left to
the new generation are the sins of the past.
Out of greed and sloth, a new enemy was born.
The dragons rose from beneath the earth, woken
to find their own murdered for reasons unknown.
Their wrath destroyed the world, leaving humanity
with only one hope for salvation.

Considering themselves the new master race, Psionics
took their proper place as the reluctant protectors of humanity.
Equally powerful, the dragons and Psionics fought for years.
Each coming to a standstill, neither gaining any ground.
Using forgotten labs, experiments were created, designed
to take over the fight.

While the children of humanity were being born as second class citizens,
treated as little more than slaves to the people who saved them,
a small group fought for freedom. With too many failed attempts
and spies in their midst, their only prayer is to find allies among Dragons,
the Suwani people and their clever nésemóono.
Allies that could potentially change everyone's fate.

It is a weak world in a flux of change.

Just remember,

No one is safe - everyone is at risk.

X-Men: Eclipsing Binary may be what you're looking for. We're a movieverse game set starting just after the end of X1, with our plots diverging from there. We're more of a plotting-and-scheming game with the X-Men and Stryker dueling behind the scenes and have a real-world feel than four-color, though we are PG-13 (to give younger players a chance to get in on the fun).

Come on by and check us out, we'd love to have you.

“We’re not what you think. Not all of us.”
“Tell that to the ones who did this to me.”

One man sees injustice and plans for war. Another sees intolerance and teaches peace.

One woman wears the face of a murdered man even as she plots to free his killer from prison. Another struggles against dreams of death and fire that threaten to consume everyone she loves.

One father labors ceaselessly to heal his son. Another transforms his into a weapon.

And, as an assassin vows revenge upon the mutilated body of his only child, a gentle soul is sent on a mission of death that will set the world ablaze.

"The war is coming, Charles, and I intend to fight it ...
by any means necessary."

"And I will always be there ... old friend."

X-Men: Eclipsing Binary is a PG-13 movieverse rpg beginning just before X2 and having a strong emphasis on writing, characterization, and plotting. We are canon-only, but accept x-characters from all three movies, including those appearing only in cameos or mentioned in the computer files.

If you're into canon X-Men, Damascus Road might be worth checking out. We're a movieverse board, set 4 years after the events of X3. Our first board-wide has started not too long ago, and new members have been jumping into it -- in case that's what might trouble you, how to join an ongoing plot. No problem at all, since our plots don't center around certain individuals, but factions as a whole :)

We hold these truths to be self-evident; that all men are created equal.
That they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights.
That among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Four years have elapsed since both X-Men and Brotherhood faced the blazing fury of the Phoenix on Alcatraz Island. Time enough for Jean Grey’s death to be mourned by those who cared for her, and for those tears to be wiped away in turn by the wondrous reappearance of Charles Xavier. Reinstated as headmaster and leader of the X-Men, the future once again looks hopeful – periods of darkness will always be interspersed with light, however faint. Proving that medical means could never offer a real solution to what some humans saw as a threat, reports that effects of the ‘cure’ were wearing off were confirmed to be true; mutants everywhere regaining total use of their powers with the fullness of time, whether they had volunteered to be stripped of their x-gene or otherwise. Maintaining a civil relationship with the government and tolerated by the public, it would appear that mutantkind and Xavier’s own dreams of acceptance might finally stand a fighting chance.

Diversity makes tolerance more than a virtue.
It makes it a requirement for survival.

Scattered and disconcerted after their metal-manipulating leader was deprived of his gifts and with no one else resolute or willing enough to guide them, the Brotherhood lay in tatters. Still licking the wounds of Magneto’s stinging betrayal even after regaining her mutation, Mystique’s staunch and unwavering belief in the liberty of her kind remained evident even while forced to live the life of those she detested; perpetually driven by the thought of slavery at the hands of humanity and ideals that had been imprinted into her mind by the very man who would abandon her. Believing it to be a cause worth fighting tooth and nail to uphold, the metamorph set out to regroup the Brotherhood under her own reign, rebuild the underground organisation from its roots and fill her ranks with the like-minded – those who are willing to do anything to ensure that homo superior inherit the earth.

Courage is poorly housed that dwells in numbers;
The lion never counts the herd that are about him
Nor weighs how many flocks he has to scatter.

Yet even the most tenuous balance can never truly be held firm for long, and not all humans are quite so accepting. Those with the utmost faith will prove to be mutantkind's greatest detractors.

Hello,

Check us out, it may just be what you're looking for. We are not overly complicated, and give you the freedom to create your own character and carve out their story.
The Tel'Ranaemyn Inn. Here's our general theme:

user posted image

Located in the northeast section of Rhydin in the city of New Haven, a city that has no regulated law enforcement, and no ruling government, the Tel'Ranaemyn Inn seeks to be a refuge to those in need, or those in need of a place to lie low.

Rhydin is the name of the country and the name of the continent. It is a unique place and exists in a Nexus. This means that all manner of creatures, from the year 2285 or 10,000 BC could potentially find their way here. Perhaps they were driving their car in modern-day Manhattan, made a wrong turn, and suddenly found themselves in a very different place? Or maybe a caveman ran inside a cave to hide from T-Rex and found himself in this strange new world. A sailors ship is tossed about in the seas and he finds himself here. The possibilities are endless.

Not all the inhabitants of Rhydin get along, no place is as peaceful as that. Different races and cultures make for a vast myriad of belief systems and political views. It's possible that some may have ideas to another, as people learn to find comparisons and compromises. Everyday life in Rhydin can be not so ordinary.

With a forest to the North and the ocean and docks bordering the East, New Haven is a steadily growing city that is ripe for almost anything.

Thanks for the consideration!

Throwing in with the supernatural/lycanthrope bent. We can definitely use another cop around, whether it be normal NOPD or the more supernatural-specialized RPIT force. :) We're of slower activity for our group right now due to the summer, but typically receive at least a couple of posts a day. The game is a reboot of a game which ran for a couple of years, and is now on its eighth month and still going.

Description: It's 2008 and vampires and lycanthropes alike are legalized citizens of the United States, recognized as more than monsters and endowed with their own rights. But that doesn't mean everything is okay.

New Orleans is slowly but surely recovering from Hurricane Katrina. A city known for chaos, it is finally getting back on its feet thanks in part to its were community. But that isn't to say it's safe.

Hounding The Moon focuses on a city that's been controlled by shapeshifters for the better part of a century. Things change, though. Discrimination is never far, and with it the possibility of the day-to-day world coming down on you. The threat of a takeover looms on the horizon -- the vampires want their city back -- and out there in the swamps, someone is watching, and waiting.

Requirements: Hounding The Moon is an 18+ game which is focused predominantly between instant messaging (AIM) and message board role-play. The primary character influence in-game are currently lycanthropes (prone to change as the story progresses), but we are also looking for people to play the human variety as well: normal folks, animators, witches, psychics, RPIT officers, etc.

We are not currently accepting applications for vampires, but that will change once the game gets off its feet and the game-wide storyline progresses.

I can offer the following things
Futuristic, Warfare, Crime, Humans, Borderline R rating (while slightly maintaining that PG-13 one), and around 20+ members active

A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away...

After a two thousand year technological halt, things have begun to pick up again in the galaxy. However, the galaxy has returned to a state all too familiar to history. Five thousand years ago the empire was born and the rebellion came about, now five thousand years after the rebellion and the struggle between the rebel and imperial forces, the galactic empire has been reborn. Now as large a superpower as that of the galactic alliance, they are back in the running for galactic domination.

Unlike five thousand years ago, the mandalorians are now a key factor in the events of the galaxy. They themselves have amassed a sizeable force and have persuaded a few brute races to join their cause. An enemy of both alliance and empire, they stand alone, in defiance of any sign of order.

The Jedi order has split into three different orders and have grown from there. While each order is not fully aligned with any particular faction, the three jedi orders seem to be in favor of the galactic alliance, save the gray jedi who are known to have jedi fighting on both sides.

The sith, while also having been around throughout the ages, are still in the shadows; waiting, watching, and planning to move when their time is right. Under the one known as Venalus they seem as if they will be able to be able to make their move.

Criminals, criminals, oh the criminals. Crime of course is up everywhere and affects everyone. However, the criminals of the age are proving to be smarter than those of old, as they expand in their criminal industries. While some criminal organizations aren't entirely criminal and others are, there may still be some form of crime in the future should most of it be shut down by the authorities combating it.

The common people, or freelancers, are just the people making their own way in the galaxy. They don't have any real ties to anyone or any faction in the galaxy. It is most commonly said about freelancers that they are just out for themselves and could all but give a damn about anyone else, but thats just what other people say.

The aura of the force surrounds everyone and everything. Whether it draws you in or not, you are a part of the force and it is a part of you. Only you can make your own destiny and fulfill it. Choose wisely for there are many paths before you.

The Aura of The Force Surrounds Us All

The Year is 2012.

Countries worldwide have fallen like dominoes to the diseases of 'Greed' and 'Power'. With the United States and Great Britain gone, it was only a matter of time before the rest of the world fell victim to the same fate. Only one place was able to stand strong against this self destruction.

It's a world where the gangsters rule like kings and the good people tremble in their wake. How far will you go to become one of them? Or will you become another nameless corpse on the street? In a world where the Gangs rule everything from police stations to grocery stores, will you be the last one standing in the end?

But what lurks in the shadows of Japan is much worse than any gang or weapon. Welcome to the city of Nihon, Japan, a city that will see brighter days ahead...the only catch is, can everyone stay alive long enough to witness peace?
