Title: Animal RPs
cloudpaws - August 23, 2008 05:24 PM (GMT)
So yeah, I've seen a lot of animals roleplays out there, and have been wanting to start one for a while now, unfrotunately I can't for the life of me decide which one I'd wanna do.
So let me know your opinions guys =D

Honestly?
I do not comprehend animal RPs. What happens in them? How can you RP an animal? How is it different from human RPs?
I simply don't understand them.

I used to exclusively do animal roleplays.
In one where you roleplayed wild animals, I had a squirrel. And I have to say, though I don't do them anymore, animal roleplays ARE fun. Especially when you get a good mixture of acceptable species.

Note: I've never played an animal RP and I don't have any intention of doing one soon. However, I thought I'd jab in my input.
I voted for "canine" and "wild animal." I love wolves, foxes and dogs and if I were going to join a pre-established RPG, that's what it would be.
However, I think that there are so many other animals out there that it's a shame that canines, felines and equines get so much attention. Like CJ said: squirrels. I love squirrels. Or raccoons. I think I would consider joining a site if it was a little more creative in the types of animals it had (not necessarily the variety since I think I'd have more fun on a squirrel-only board than a board with 100 different types of animals).

Well animal roleplays are really like any other roleplay in the sense that you are assuming and playing the assumed role and situation that your character or a character would be in. Its the same with fantasy genres, you play a mythical creature or humanoid specie, or human celebrity genres, you're playing another person.
It really all boils down to the same thing =)

What would you say to a mixture of maned wolves and another animal?
I'm hoping to do something either semi-realistic, or non-realistic at all xD

I've never actually played a squirrel or racoon, even though yes, they are adorable. But I dunno, I mean I usually stick with the semi-realistic genres, and I just can't see a blue and yellow squirrel >__>
*shrugs* maybe its just me haha

Wait . . . I'm missing something. Why would the squirrel be blue or yellow? And how would that be any less realistic than a blue and yellow wolf?
cloudpaws - August 23, 2008 08:33 PM (GMT)
It wouldn't be, I was just trying to express my thinking xD
What I was trying to say was that I can't imagine squirrels really being all that interesting to play, whereas wolves have a bit more character in my mind whether they're blue or not.

Hmmm... Maned wolves... Aren't those not truly wolves at all, but a wolf-like variety of wild dog? Really cool idea to use those instead of the classic wolves.
And really, the personality in an animal roleplay is what you make it. Even a squirrel character can be spiced up to be complex.

I voted wild animals, though I love canines...a lot. I think it would be fun to do like have a site where it takes place in part of an ecosystem, like or forest or in part of the desert.

does this entail peeing against the lamp post and humping the neighbors leg
